Can't happen in Malay because pronouns are already gender neutral to begin with. Instead, it's based on 'is this thing a person or not a person?'

In Malay both pronouns for the other person is "Dia". No him/her versions. For non-persons such as animals and objects, 'Ia' is used instead.

Even if Malay was a gendered language, good luck trying to convince a historically Islamic country to make any changes.

Since they don't want to invest in a human being, they're not going to invest in a way more demanding pet like a dog. Cats are the least demanding (generally) and so they end up with more and more cats.

Funny that we think that fandom has an age limit nowadays. I was suprirsed to hear this from the seniors, but one of the things that helped fandom not go too crazy were the presence of old people. Think senior Star Trek fans who printed their monthly fan magazines pre-internet days. They served as elders who teach the younglings how to behave. We're really missing that nowadays.

The fandom I'm in has a father with 4 children. They all love the same series, so he would write children's fanfiction and read them as bedtime stories. Really wholesome.
