My take would be that they just wanna make really sure they're done. You may well be a very reasonable person, but they don't know that. Having done some research on this, I can say that is technically true as far as I'm aware, but the definition varies greatly. I disagree on the plausibility / character assessment. This is cranked up to 11 compared to any of the proven accusations. Like we all know Epstein paid minors for sex, both with himself and other rich / powerful people. But as far as I'm aware, none of the confirmed survivors have alleged a violent rape like this.

And if you go back just a bit further when gay sex was actually illegal, I almost can't fault gays of that era for not seeing sex with underage teens as a big deal. They were all in the same boat as pederasts whether they wanted to be or not. It certainly isn't a culture that fits in with modern values, but I can understand why it was the way it was.

OK so this was in the context of playing a game called Diplomacy. Never played it, but it sounds like the sort of game where deception would be an expected part of play. So I donno if this is any particular cause for alarm. I'd have been surprised if they discovered it wasn't capable of using deception when expected. After all that's what LLMs do, imitate human behavior.

What might be alarming is if we caught it being intentionally deceptive in a situation where this wasn't expected, for instance if it suddenly started saying Eliezer Yudkowsky is a sexually violent predator.

That's the same thing I do, report and block. About half the spammers constantly make new accounts so blocking them doesn't help... but about half don't. So it does make a difference. I agree that it'd be nice if the process of doing those two things was a little more streamlined.

The true part is a remote village got internet for the first time, and all that comes with it, which of course includes porn. I'm inclined to agree. They're trying to make a show of show the justice system being "impartial". But both trials are bogus. Hunter probably came closer to breaking the law, the letter of it, as it were, but neither prosecution would have happened to regular sods like you and I. They don't go after every gun owner who's later found to do drugs (nor should they) any more than they charge people with 34 felonies over some bookkeeping issue. It really has nothing to do with the law at all.

It's just the cancer often called the "deep state" trying yet another method to stay in control.
