I don't have a problem with individual trannies for the most part. At worst my interactions with them are similar to interacting with a religious zealot. If they say irrational things and won't listen to reason it's annoying, but I can tolerate it. What I have a problem with is when they can't show others the same tolerance. If they take any disagreement as a personal attack or moral failing on the other person's part, then we can't get along.

Trans politics unfortunately are mostly dominated by the latter kind of people trying to codify beliefs that are at best subjective as law.

Not sure what to think. I used to believe a small number of people were "really trans", which I guess is the transmedical view, I now have have serious doubts that it ever makes sense to encourage that thinking. I'm sure some people really have gender dysphoria, whatever the cause, but it should probably be treated like any other kind of dysphoria.

Speaking of that article though, while you're there, follow the a link to Medical model of disability and then the antonym, Social model of disability. This particular brand of insanity is something I only heard of recently, but apparently it's very widespread in academy.

In a nutshell the claim is that disability is not caused by "impairments" such as blindness, lack of legs or being crazy, it's cause by society. Damn that evil society.

I sort of agree, but it's not worth giving up our guns for, and unarmed police probably aren't realistic otherwise.

Personally I'd just like use of deadly force to be seen as a career ending failure. Their job is to catch criminals, not kill 'em. Some guy rushed you with a knife so you killed him to save your own skin? Understandable, but you're not cut out for this job. Rare exceptions can be made for hostage situations, stopping active shooters and suchlike, but killing in self defense, while sufficient to avoid criminal liability, should not be considered a normal or acceptable part of police work.

Of course some times (like this case) it's pretty hard to even justify self defense, but as I see it the more important point is that if they're shooting people they're not doing their job right.

In my opinion, it's more like a religion than a regular non-contagious delusion. Gender is made up, just like souls, sin and so forth, so most of their beliefs aren't actually falsifiable. If you believe you can fly, you will be quickly proven wrong as soon as you jump off the roof, but if you believe you're "really a woman, despite having a penis", this doesn't actually mean anything so it can't be proven or disproven.

You are right that it's not all, but not about the details. It covers all penetration and attempts at penetration which cause injury, and also oral sex; by someone 18+ with a child under 12.

How about lukewarm opposition? I actually do think it's a bad law. My biggest objection is that when you consider the reality of child molestation (namely that it's usually someone close to the victim) this is going to make it even more emotionally difficult to report. And in a more "stranger danger" type of scenario, what if the rapist thinks "Well, if my life's on the line anyway, better not leave a witness"? I see bad outcomes in both cases. Whether the additional deterrence of death compared to life without parole justifies those drawbacks seems very doubtful.

Yeah I had similar thoughts when someone was talking about wanting to be trans in a game. Specifically they wanted to be a transman with a binder or mastectomy scars. What the fuck is the appeal of that? Wouldn't you think their fantasy would be to play a "cis" man and not have to deal with that? (This of course is an option in the game already.)

By any rational measure, being transgender should be regarded as a problem. It's a physical birth defect if you accept their understanding, or a mental disorder if you don't, but it's not a good thing either way.
