Um, eckscuse me, sweaty, but don't they realize how bad first names are in the climate? Someone could feel unsafe to have their real first name in their soul told to them. Like, I know a friend who's heartless cockgiver and fuckhole (as is respectful) made them use the deadname (I refuse to say slave name because using someone's deadname is literally worse than slavery) on their birth certificate, and didn't even realize that their soul's real name was at the time something different. This isn't even counting how jobs only use one name and still call them their name after some years. They got hired a few years ago- but their soul's real name changes each season as they got into a different series, I believe now they use the name Loid, which could change when a new series takes hold. Will someone please think of these people before saying 'just use their name?

Do better, Venmo me, flagellate yourself.

Cackling. They always loved putting in links that went to giving them money.

I had some very confused elderly relatives in hospital because the nurses kept calling them by their legal first names which they'd never used.

Back in the day they were so poor they could only afford 5 or 6 first names per family so most people were called something different to their birth certificate the majority of the time.

Libs of tiktok is a legend. They tried going after her but they lost interest I guess.

They didn't lose interest. They lost power. They've only succeeded in drawing more attention to the account. Various media outlets like the CBC are desperately trying to do damage control by framing the pedo-adjacent organizations she highlights as innocent victims.

We're in for it in the west. The rush to sexualize children is scary.

Wouldn't the term homosexual be preferable to gays and lesbians since the later is clearly gendered language and excluded non-binary homosexuals?

[–]soundsituation 11 insightful - 2 fun11 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

The sign is too close to the signifier with homosexual; the reality-based definition is baked into the word itself and we can't have that because it correctly implies that homos aren't interested in banging trans people of the opposite sex.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

non-binary homosexuals

Going by their logic, if sexuality is based on gender, shouldn't such a person be only attracted to other non-binary individuals? Or people of the same non-binary gender. Also "gay" is usually preferred even by homosexual women, so there's also the "gay non-binary" permutation.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Well no, since non-binary homosexuals are attracted to the same sex and non-binary is defined as not being part of the sex binary but separate than non-binary homosexuals are attracted to (error nan).

True. "Fag" is more gender neutral.

(It's a joke, ♥️ LGB)

That's a decent point since everything else on the board is designed to degender all interactions... BUT... TRAs have also been on a crusade against "homosexual" because gays started using it as a way to fight back against the whole "same gender attraction" thing.

The one and only thing on this sign which doesn't seem to be up to date for the trans ideology is the sign saying to use "sexual preference" over "orientation". That was what we wanted during the gay rights movement but now trans ideology is pushing for "preference" because they don't want us to have a way to say no to sexual advances other than "transphobia".

[–]soundsituation 8 insightful - 3 fun8 insightful - 2 fun9 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

I'm genuinely surprised that sexual preferences made the no-no list. These people talk about genital preferences all the time.

[–]Q-Continuum-kin 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's probably just the corporate talking points not quite keeping up with the newest trans ideology. Gay rights groups used to push to remove the "preference" terminology because it implied being gay was a choice. Now the TRAs want to put it back because they want to take away reasons to say no to sexual advances.

[–]cancerforbodingdog 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No, they say genital preferences are bad. They say you have to be attracted to a trans person just as you would be attracted to a person who's actually that sex.

lmfao who knew "homosexual" was such a bad word. Imma use it exclusively now.

In fact, the avoid column will be the words I use exclusively from now on :D

I have a mom and dad, I hope to have a wife one day, who will give birth to hopefully some sons and daughters. Ladies, and gentleman, this is my sexual preference, I like women. Once she is pregnant, we will go on maternity and paternity leave. All the Mr, Mrs, Miss and Ms will be excited to to see our new baby, who wil not be a homosexual. The mailmen, polcemen and chairmen will be elated to see our child <3

You can tell it’s liberals and not leftists because leftists would say “ACAB” for that last one.

[–]Q-Continuum-kin 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Side note. I used to interact with a guy who was/is obsessed with TRA ideology. He used to spam ACAB stuff so one day I said "assigned cop at birth" and it crossed his wires enough that he had to stop saying it.

Less about pushing the insanity and more about protecting their big and deep pockets. Hospitals are sued daily. For the most stupid shit because of this, a hospital will mitigate lawsuit potential as much as possible.

I never liked political correctness. This furthers my belief that it was always a slippery slope. Those who seek to control language in order to wield power never stop seeking control. 'Progress' can never be final.

A few points:

  • homosexuality has been erased
  • are we actually 'misgendering' everyone now by default? Erasing sex from the discipline in which it matters most?
  • Honorifics and salutations are a traditional sign of respect. I'm not old, but even I cringe at some bank clerk addressing me by my first name as though we're friends. It's business. Also, how does this work when you don't know the person's name?

Are they trying to alienate every single normal person on the entire planet?

Seriously...

What's supposed to be offensive about "sexual preferences"?

[–]jet199 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I'm not having some lowly doctor or nurse addressing me by my first name like one of the servants.

I think using they and them instead of she and him, even if the patients only use the later pronouns, would be confusing as hell.

Before anyone complains - yes, I know that they/them/theirs can be used as singular pronouns. I'm just saying that using these pronouns for everyone will be confusing.
