Ovarit is like reddit but run by feminists. It exists as a counter to the censorship of feminists but the women there can discuss anything they feel like. Kinda like how reddit was created by libertarians and designed around libertarian principles, but hosted all types of subject matter, not only things related to libertarianism.

Prostitution is even more dangerous than those dangerous slave labor types jobs. There's nothing more dangerous. They are being killed, injured by johns and pimps and they are dying of drug overdose and suicide, deaths of desperation.

The solution is finding real jobs for these women not trying to create a legalization scheme that just emboldens the sex traffickers.

[–]Maeven 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No. I do not want women punished for their own exploitation.

I seriously doubt any woman is making a substantial income on prostitution, because if women could earn enough to save they could escape and most want to escape. The sheer amount of abuse and danger involved with johns and pimps make it so. But her income is irrelevant. That's hush money to keep her quiet about the abuse. If someone is given $1m hush money by her rapist, she still didn't do anything wrong.

It's about exhausting them into capitulation. If you can confuse your audience, sow doubt in their minds and make them afraid of contradicting what you're telling them, you can control them.

What this idiot is describing are features that differ as much between black and white men as they do women.

The truth here is that sexual dimorphism looks a bit different in Europeans, Asians, Africans, etc. Hair growth patterns are more dependent on race, ethnicity and genes than on sex. End of fucking story.

The other side to this is that the culture idealizes hairlessness in women and this is unhealthy for all of us. We should not need to subject ourselves to excessive hair removal regimens. They are only further distorting our image of what women should look like.

Can muslim women be GC feminist too? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]Maeven 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Religious criticism will crop up. I'll say that I am very critical of patriarchal religion, which means basically all organized religions. I do not single anything out. There are harsh practices used against women in every culture and usually when that culture has a strong central religion, the religion itself adopts and encourages the practices.

I also understand that the women who are religious (or other things that we criticize) are really just trying to survive and live in a world hostile to women. In my own ways so have I.

There are always ways that we can find to incorporate pro-female sentiment into deeply held beliefs. I'm very proud of the Marian sect of Christianity in their wholehearted embrace of a female religious figures. I am not religious but I have spent time among women who are, and there is beauty in their beliefs too.

As you consider the arguments, I hope you can consider whether or not you see truth in it. If it has truth, let it help you reflect on your relationship with your creator and your faith and strengthen them. As this is only what truth can do. If it is untrue. Please forgive us, we are imperfect creatures and while our efforts here are well intended, we make many mistakes too.

Islam bashing was cranked up by conservatives to a truly ugly extreme and linked to support for violent overthrow of countries which the right has always wanted to invade anyway, because of realpolitik. Once it became a reality, the liberals were forced to go in the opposite direction and suppress criticism (more realpolitik).

Men pointing fingers at other men to deflect from their misogyny is all too real.

Western men will say "aw look at those women who have no rights to go outside, look at the women forced to wear hijab. See, don't you know how much better you have it?"

Muslim men will say, "See, those women who have no financial or social support system to depend on, see how they work full-time jobs and then can't raise their children right. See how they are objectified and pimped. Don't you know how good you have it?"

There is no difference here. Just men who see women as chattel and have a different idea of what they want from us.

[–]Maeven 21 insightful - 2 fun21 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Different harms involved.

Tucute are the group pushing woke conversion therapy on LGBs. They are led by the incels who can't be bothered to improve their looks and bedside manner while remaining entitled pricks.

Truscum are the group pushing to make rape by deception acceptable. They believe they can pass well enough to get a partner and maybe even keep their partner in the dark. I don't know how that works and I don't want to, but apparently the number of LTR and married truscum whose SO still doesn't know is not zero. And that's horrible.

If both groups are advancing some flavor of rape culture then it's a close call. I think tucutes are possibly the worst if only because there are so many more of them and they're always proselytizing. Truscum don't proselytize to the broad public since according to their ethos, most of the public is not True Trans.

I have a lot of empathy for people who are mistreated by society, which means at first I was trying to listen and understand and do my best to be supportive. I'm not going to say I was an "ally", because I've never been much of an activist nor was I actively involved in the trans community. But I was sympathetic and followed the rules, and if things sometimes contradicted each other and if I didn't entirely understand the reasoning of what was being done, I trusted that the trans community and medical community was acting in good faith and doing the right thing.

Up close and personal experience with people who were deeply involved really opened my eyes, alongside deeper soul-searching about what it all meant and the consistently stubborn community and their refusal to permit any questioning or doubt of what they tell us is true. It was a red flag that I knew all too well from other toxic communities, and I knew it was deeply wrong. I recoiled - and eventually found my way to people who would appreciate a curious mind and allow me my own thoughts.

I have a problem with intersectionality discourse, even though I appreciate that there's good reasons behind it.

My problem is that Tumblr soured me to it with their "you're not a feminist unless you're fighting for the causes of people with disabilities, mental illnesses, micro-gender identities, sex workers rights" etc etc ad nauseum. I have a finite amount of fucks to give and yes, I'm going to prioritize my fucks on the things that impact me and my loved ones. But the social justice warriors aren't having that. They feel entitled to your energy, to everyone's energy, all the time and for every single cause. It seemed in those spaces that women were being asked to care about every issue except for sexism. That's the behemoth intersectionality turned into and it really pissed me off.

I think it's important to understand that souring. It has a lot to do with the way white woke culture took over intersectional ideas and made a very toxic environment from it. It doesn't mean those issues don't matter or that racism isn't important (and important to discuss how race and sex intersect, in the original sense of intersectionality). It's that people have very different meanings and experiences of what intersectionality looks like.

[–]Maeven 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't like the attacks on issues that are considered white. Primarily because, even if we are white and aren't affected by racism, we are affected by sexism and shouldn't be attacked for having our own unique issues. I can sympathize with black women who experience sexism differently and still advocate for the ways sexism affects me. I can have uniquely american-centric problems and there's nothing wrong with that any more than Korean feminists who focus and discuss uniquely Korean problems.

I'd rather we not tear each other down. Just recognize that different people have different needs and leave it at that.

That's not what I see in the links you provided.

Actually what I do see is feminists focusing on material remedies for physical harms caused by the porn industry, instead.

"the ordinance sought civil remedies that would enable women who are harmed in the making of pornography, or as a result of its consumption, to sue for a future ban on sexually explicit material demonstrated to be harmful and to collect damages from pornographers for provable harm done by that material"

Interesting that this was not a ban at all. It's actually a lot more powerful, because it is an attempt to hold an abusive industry responsible for the repercussions of their actions.

Where is this ban on speech? Where is this ban on contrary opinions?

Sure I can understand that not everyone sees it that way. But the abuses happening in the industry are undeniable and we already outlaw prostitution. I don't see any difference between prostitution and pornography. Both situations involve women who get groomed into performing sex, who are frequently misled about what they will actually be doing/drugged/and prevented from leaving the industry.

I suggest reading Pornland if you want a complete explanation of why radical feminists believe that the coercion in the industry amounts to rape. I'm just offering some highlights.

Apparently the google album of all the homophobic tweets has been circulating around the lgbt subs. I posted it myself in askgaybros a few times, especially when they say "no one says/believes x" by xandit in LGBDropTheT

Most of them aren't like that and yet we always get ostracized when we're honest about our attractions.

Most of them aren't like that and yet the biggest LGBTQ organizations and news sources produce content that tells us to consider sex with the opposite sex, that it's transphobic not to, and provides guidance on how to have sex with them as if the only issue was that we just aren't sure how.

Most of them aren't like that, but when we try to seek dates with the people we're genuinely attracted to, and make groups for ourselves, we're called exclusionary.

Oh wait.. most of them are like that, after all.

LOL. That's not a free speech issue. Pornography is paid rape and women are against rape. Go figure.

How much porn conversation is normal when hanging out with guys? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]Maeven 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's not normal at all. It's the bizarre combination of an addiction and a lack of filter.

I'd be wary about confronting this, since addicts rarely react well when confronted. Maybe someone closer to him like the brother could say something? When it comes to sex topics, guys are more comfortable talking to other guys.

Ok I want to ask this in a forum of only women since all our spaces are taken. It's about running a fever a week before your period? Sorry if not allowed mods by 100_percent_truth in GenderCritical

I used to get a "period flu" the days leading up to my period. Was indistinguishable from any other mild virus. I didn't check temperature or feel feverish usually just tired and run down, light headed, that kind of thing.

I'm going to be larping as a transbian there. They want to pretend to be women.. I'll be a woman pretending to be a man pretending to be a woman... and when I finally share my "vagina fetishist" preferences, they won't even mind b/c of course the banhammer never applies to transbians.

Yes, you're clearly confused about feminism.

If you'll do us the courtesy of sharing the relevant passages from Mackinnon and Dworkin, I will explain what you are missing and elaborate further for you.

"Can I be attracted to nb folks as a lesbian?" "Well, lesbian attraction is complex..." by winterwillow in Lesbians

[–]Maeven 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

This is just a completely different language. I'm genuinely baffled.

I just want to be a simple lesbian, enjoying simple lesbian things. I don't want to navigate 30+ genders and label my attraction around them and don't understand anyone who does.

Any Pagan/Wiccan Lesbians here? by LesbiSilly in Lesbians

[–]Maeven 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes. female-based spirituality is very important to me and has been most of my life.

I'm in the process of discovering and blending my pagan roots with some Deanic influences. Deanism is kinda new so I doubt many have heard of it. It's based on Madrianism (catholic offshoot), with what appears to be a strong Hindu/Shakti influence. Bringing living goddess traditions into the mix but in a female-centered approach has been satisfying.

Do you find that people don’t believe you when you describe what’s happening to lesbians? by [deleted] in Lesbians

It actually means a lot to see you say that. Thanks.

Yes.

I told someone that I was worried about dating because lesbians get pressured a lot by trans women. She agreed that trans women are men, and I have the right to reject them but thought that I was being paranoid, and that people in LGBTQ groups would understand my hesitation/I wasn't likely to even meet any trans women.

It's a very liberal area. I've heard exactly the opposite from lesbians who have involved with the community. She just made up this super ignorant assumption from thin air. I guess she didn't want to believe me. It really hurt.

Modsupport has a related post about this.

Tl;Dr There are minors going onto gonewild and soliciting for PMs from adults. The mods want to report these accounts, but reddit has no report category for this, and reports submitted under other categories like spam are just ignored.

In other words, adults are having private sexual conversations with children, reddit knows about this and they are turning a blind eye.

What about Voat do you take issue with? how about other reddit alternatives? by [deleted] in MeanwhileOnVoat

[–]Maeven 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Voat isn't infested with antisemites so much as it was created by them after the alright purge on reddit, and only antisemites want to be around antisemites.

I don't know the history on saidit as well but I have seen plenty of antisemites here, there are some subs like the conspiracy one which are just full of it. Is this platform that much better?

Reddit is just kinda throwing ban hammers wildly around at new subs right now. Probably along the lines of "if you ever used posted on a banned subreddit this is a ban evasion sub". There's a bunch posting to /r/modhelp and getting removed.

An example of this:

"I made a subreddit dedicated to brainstorming new weapon concepts for the game Destiny 2. It was 10 members, but only myself and another person actually posted and shared ideas. As these were merely ideas and OC, no copyright issues were present. Well, I tried to post a new idea and it turns out my subreddit got banned 1 day ago for "creating or repurposing a sub to reconstitute or serve the same objective as a previously banned or quarantined subreddit." I have never known of another subreddit dedicated to what I was trying to accomplish with my own subreddit, let alone have I ever been affiliated with one. What I want to know is why I was never warned or notified about my subreddit ban, and why it was banned when it posed no threat. Most of all, I want to know if there is a way to appeal the ban. My subreddit in question is r/KulaxisFoundry"

To all the newcomers - gender critical feminists are not biological essentialists, and we do not conflate sex with gender by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]Maeven 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

We're against redefining woman as an arbitrary category of gender woowoo. Having language specific to sex categories is important and we're trying to defend it.
