What's disturbing is there are far more than just that list. The two I've seen and heard of aren't even on this list. Here is a great article about them.

One of the storylines (about the young FTM from "Good Girls") was especially horrible in my opinion. In the episode where she "came out as trans" to her mom, her mom hugged her and said to her "I always wanted a boy."

The line made me so angry it made my face burn hot. How many young girls have heard that their parents wanted boys? From that line of dialogue, I feel like as a viewer, I can assume that the mother hasn't done a great job of hiding that preference from her daughter who is now saying she's her son. It was infuriating.

Hmmmm, a parent who "always wanted a boy" and a child who desperately wants to be a boy... I wonder how that came to be...

The most laughable thing about Suzie/Theo in Sabrina, is that they put her in a straight relationship later on, but they pass it as gay, lol. IIRC the partner is told to be homosexual.

Beware people, this is what peak gay looks like.

Bonus silly fact: in an episode she confesses to her partner that she isn't actually a boy. No shit sherlock, nobody would ever have guessed.

Did they trans Suzie?? I only saw season one. Jesus

Yep, they did. And the fans get outraged if you call her by her former name or use the wrong pronouns. Hell, even google corrects you if you write "theo sabrina" in the search bar.

By the way, the actress herself identifies with non-binarism.

It's propaganda. Hence why a lot of children's cartoons are now introducing trans/nonbinary characters. They're trying to "normalize" their movement and promote it as a progressive, happy and innocent thing for all ages, when it's really more akin to a dangerous cult.

[–]fuck_reddit 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Gotta "normalize" it for kids so that by the time they're adults its too late to turn back...

Well, it's settled then. If I ever get my own house or flat, I'm never getting cable. Especially if I end up becoming a father, because there is no way I would want my children watching shows with trans characters. There will be a TV hooked up to a DVD player and a games console, and there will only be 10 channels. If that's not enough for them, they'll have plenty of books to read.

Cable's increasingly pointless anyway with the internet around. Cut the cord years ago.

I think it was She-Ra that introduced a non-binary character but they were literally a sex-changing alien lizard or something...which I felt kind of undermined the point, lol. Same thing with the "non-binary" Gems on Steven Universe. They're alien rocks, not mammals. Their "non-binary"-ness makes a kind of sense that humans' doesn't.

Except that She-Ra's "nonbinary" character was 1. Originally female, I believe 2. Voiced by a guy named Jacob Tobia who is a batshit insane TRA creep

[–]chickensizzle 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Theres an article written by him that is almost literally "why won't people fuck me, I deserve it". Makes me wonder why the creator sought him out...

[–]LasagnaRossa 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't understand the point you're trying to make in (1). The show changed many things, She-ra is even lesbian now, so it's irrelevant that the lizard guy was originally female in the old show.

Eh, I just think it's a little weird that they took a female character and went "look xe's nonbinary now" then gave the voice acting job to a man

Holy shit hunny at least make an fucking effort. How's about no to the 5 o'oclock shadow. 'Genderqueer' he calls himselff. My hot take , genderqueer is just a moniker for a terrible transvestite.

Any self respecting transvestite would look a zillion times better than this absolute shocking mess.

The absence of gender in the lizard of She-Ra actually makes sense, since it's an alien and can literally change body. It isn't presented as an human, so children shouldn't expect that non-binary it's actually a thing.

I mean, when I was a child I loved Mew Mew, where these girls had animal characteristics. I knew they were impossible for our species, I didn't miss any tail or wings.

[–]VioletRemiCat, homosexual one 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

And for LGB people it was still hard to get at least one character into show. And lesbians are extremely underrepresented even now. Only times lesbians are included are for fanservise or sexualization. While transes are now everywhere and in big quantites, and in TV series they are replacing gay/lesbian couples by "oh and this character is trans now".

[–]malloww 23 insightful - 2 fun23 insightful - 1 fun24 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

The one that got me was Susie/Theo on the Netflix respin of Sabrina. They take a gender non-conforming girl on a show that's clearly trying to be feminist and go, oh wait, she's not a girl, she's a boy! Then there's an entire Mary Sue plotline around Theo basically cheating using Sabrina's magic to get on the boys basketball team. Every other time in the show magic is used for some kind of personal gain there's a consequence, but this time they just ignore it and never address how Theo manages to stay on the team without magic since she's objectively terrible at basketball. And then they use magic to break a kid's bones and suddenly all of the bros are super accepting and the entire dynamic isn't addressed again.

And finally, icing on the cake, this season Theo gets a boyfriend and they have sex. Mind you, Theo is literally just a girl with short hair who wears plaid, no hormones or anything. But the relationship is clearly framed as a "gay" relationship. So they're preparing to do the deed, and she says "I never thought anyone would accept me as I am" and I was like... wut. You are literally, unmistakably a girl. This is a straight couple with quirky senses of style. There is nothing revolutionary about a teenage girl getting with a teenage boy, and anyone who finds this somehow groundbreaking is a complete moron. It was so bizarre, and I've wondered how it came across to people who aren't paying attention to this shit. It must have peaked at least a few people.

This is a straight couple with quirky senses of style.

I think that's the point. The shows get the kudos for having "queer representation" with none of the potential whining from conservatives if they were to have an actual gay teen relationship. Win-win.

[–]malloww 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, and the evidence of that is that when Susie was implied to be a lesbian and then later when Theo was implied to be a straight guy she had zero romance plot lines at all. Also evidence - Ambrose started out as very obviously attracted to men. Then his lover gets killed off quickly and that part of him is increasingly erased to the point where I think if you never watched season one you'd have no clue he's not straight. Even disregarding the trans aspect, you are 100% right, they don't want to show an actual gay relationship of any kind.

[–]haveanicedaytoo💗💜💙 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Hold up... Wasn't Susie/Theo a lesbian in season 1? (I haven't watched any of the other seasons.) So does the boyfriend identify as a lesbian too, or what's going on?

[–]malloww 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Nope, that was implied as a possibility but it was framed as "Susie/Theo is figuring her sexuality out because she's not like Sabrina or Roz". Then they basically shelved it entirely until they needed a way to incorporate the new boy (who is actually a hobgoblin, aka 'normal looking actor-level-attractive guy with green hair') and BAM, Susie is now a gay man.

[–]PassionateIntensity 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No, he's a gay man. So they erased the gay characters.

Google isn't helping. I wonder if they said/showed Susie being interested in girls in Season 1 (I've forgotten most of it) or if I'm just remembering wrong. Maybe I got the vibe because the actress is a lesbian?

Artists have always felt a desire to not just make things that people like cause they're pretty or fun, but to make something that matters. Hence why so much art includes social commentary or political messages. Trans-politics have simply become the latest thing for Artists Who Want To Matter™ to latch on to if they have no real struggle in life but still want to feel like they're contributing to some Serious Issue.

Whether it will affect people... Absolutely. It already is. If you're young, insecure and starved for attention and a sense of purpose, all of media and "journalism" and education is telling you that with the magic words "I am trans" you will be treated as special, untouchable, flawless, brave and important. Who wouldn't take that offer? There's more to come, too. The developers of Life Is Strange (a game series particularly popular with young women) is currently working on a game in which the main character will be a "trans man." They don't care. They will push this crap and hurt countless people in the process so long as it makes them feel tingly and warm in their tummies about how important and brave they are for pushing it.

PS: "Transparent" is complete trans-propaganda. The series is modeled after the creator's life. She had a trans-identified father and sometime into making the show she came out as nonbinary. Total nonsense.

I find it really annoying that we can’t get any realistic lesbian characters but they are prioritizing trans characters.

It's one part chasing dollars with controversy and the other part pushing propaganda. Homosexuality isn't as controversial as it used to be and most of western society tolerates it.

Well we noticed the rise of LGB characters as well, and sometimes it has zero incidence on the plot, they either need to check a box or it's fan service because, you know, "gays are soooo cute". To the point that I gave up on Mindhunter in season 2 when they brought in Anna Torv and 1-made her character useless and 2-brought in a useless Lesbian love story.

At this point it's just fan service. It does not serve the purpose of advancing gay rights, like Philadelphia did, for instance.

So I am not surprised to see more T characters and, obviously, useless T characters who bring nothing to the plot except the "oooh... aaaah..." effect.

To the point that I gave up on Mindhunter in season 2 when they brought in Anna Torv and 1-made her character useless and 2-brought in a useless Lesbian love story.

To be fair, all the love stories on that show have been pretty pointless. At least Bill Tench's character has a whole arc around his family. But I thought the most unbearably boring and pointless scenes where the ones involving Holden and his girlfriend. I was so glad when they finally broke up.

[–]FrenchiePup 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

They have no idea how to tell stories anymore.

There is a reason why there are rules in story telling.

It reminds me of The Room, when the old ladies talks about her cancer. Apparently she asked Wiseau if there was any reason why her disease was added to the story and if it was coming back and he had no idea.

I think everybody who writes fiction now goes to the Tommy Wiseau school of scriptwriting.

[–]immersang 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

True. Especially when it comes to romantic story lines the rule seems to be "there has to be one". No matter how pointless to the rest of the story. That used to be different. I have been re-watching Scrubs recently, and the romantic / personal lives story lines outside the hospital were much more organic and felt natural in comparison to many shows or movies you see today.

I don't care if there are trans characters, but what really pisses me off is when they pair the new trans character with the established gay character so they become a straight couple. I've seen 2 shows do this.

[–]fijupanda 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Not so subliminal messages. Reinforcing gender stereotypes among other things. Trend it until the medical industry, big pharma have more sheep to shear over the years. Life long patients. Then again, there is mention of transhumanism as well as being some sort of long term agenda by the powers that be. Trans individuals are simply being used here when all is said and done. As one transwoman mentioned on twitter that all this TRA baloney, transing kids, getting into women's spaces will in the long run harm trans people immensely and they might not recover from it.

It's eugenics to be blunt.

Puberty blockers and cross sex hormones decrease fertility, cause damage to the brain, may increase chances of osteoporosis, fucks up mental health, and god knows what other issues in the long term scenario since it's not even researched enough. it's basically experimental medicine used on children for crying out loud.

Was just reading a article about new research that shows that rats that had their uterus removed struggled with working memory.

I really wonder how the avalanche of lawsuits in a few years will go down.

Didn't notice it too much, but that's mostly because I don't watch the latest things out of television anymore. Well, I know about Stephen Universe doing all these weird experiments with gender, but that's because the show has become a meme as a result of its Tumblr fanbase. Never watching it.

The only shows produced in the last 12 months that I have watched are The Witcher and Tiger King. The Witcher has no trans characters. Has no gay characters either, but a show does not need to have a gay character in order for me to enjoy it, it's just an added bonus if this gay character is entertaining and not just there to tick something off the diversity checklist. Tiger King does have a trans person (it's a documentary), but he never felt the need to bring it up and he was not a spoilt brat, so I can respect him. Certainly not a good role model though, because he'd rather amputate his arm and go back to working for a delusional lunatic like Joe Exotic than wait six months to get his arm repaired.

Aside from those two, all of the shows I've been watching lately have finished production.

Interesting this about Kelci the trans guy is that in the Tiger King special where they interviewed the cast, Kelci made it clear that while he prefers male pronouns, he would never force other people to use them for himself, and that the people who were outraged about him getting "misgendered" didn't really speak for him and that he didn't really care and just likes to lay low. Hark! An actual trans person who's just trying to live their life and how that is clearly at odds with what trans activism has become.

Developers that made nice game "Life is Strange: Before the Storm" are making new game...and it is about transgender bisexual.

Translobby have a lot of money invested in them. So nothing weird in this. Plus all vocal TRA and transes are middle or top class white people, with enough money, who are invited to shows and living really good life. And second part of them are just self-ID abusers. With minor part of actual transsexuals who require help.

[–]immersang 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Before the Storm (which was part 2 of the Life is Strange series) was already kind of ridiculous as it featured multiple bi or lesbian teenage girls in small town America that were all totally comfortable with and open about their sexuality. I basically constantly rolled my eyes through that game, and I'm a bisexual woman. So, that was already pretty much wish fulfillment for the gender special aka "transbian" fanbase. (I loved the first game, but apparently it attracted so many gender specials that the developers decided to completely lean into that the second time around. Not surprised they are dropping all pretenses now and go full trans.)

[–]VioletRemiCat, homosexual one 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Yeah, but still, at least some decent lesbian representation in games.

I will not be surprised if in new game this time small town will be full of transgenders.

Yeah, but still, at least some decent lesbian representation in games.

I don't know if I agree. On the one hand, sure, at least it's there. On the other hand, it seemed to be written in the typical "how men want to imagine young, soft lesbians" way, with an additional dose of "every woman is secretly bisexual".

I stopped watching Orphan Black when they introduced a trans clone and made the gay character fall for "him". It was so awkward and poorly acted.
