Yeah, I'm choosing to believe this person has been with us longer than that, but you very well could be right. I know it seems to be the truth from where I'm sitting, that rats are only just seeing the ship sinking.

The only reason I'm contrite is because up until all this bullshit, I supported trans rights. They shouldn't be called slurs. It really depends on the region of the world. I have a feeling that masks are recommended in the USA because... well... it's a giant fucking petri dish and everyone has it, so anything that MIGHT help at this point is considered a win.

In my country the outbreak has been very well under control, the curve flattened, and we've mostly reopened, and pretty much no one wore masks for routine trips to the shops etc. It was judged by our health authority that the risk of people improperly handling/laundering cloth masks (as untrained people are gonna do) actually adds unnecessary risk for little reward. When that changes, maybe the recommendation will too, because trust in the truth still mostly matters here!

That's funny, because the admins have been telling us mods in a mainstream woman's subreddit that subreddit participation is NOT an acceptable reason to ban the user, and could result in us being removed. I can totally see this. And I've also observed how quickly they learn that offline physical spaces aren't exactly super rah-rah-hooray about overweight neckbeards in dresses/rainbow hair in the ladies' room. It's no wonder that they protect their safe space online at all cost.

It's still stunning that a community that is supposedly so oppressed has somehow amassed the amount of power and social capital to ''cancel'' those who disagree. I don't think I've seen even racists taken down with such chutzpah as a person who says women are biological females get.

All of the misogynist subreddits that have been banned and come back with whack-a-mole subs don't get mass banned like this.

We should be given a chance to come back. Strict rules and modding against hateful or disrespectful speech. But no, they don't even give us a chance and deem that because we think a certain way (dissenting even by 1% from the TRA agenda), we're bigoted and hateful.

If they had any decency and lack of double standards they'd at least quarantine.

Your best bet when caught out is to gently affirm ''I signed that letter/said that, yes'' and move on. Any sign of taking it back or apologizing and you'll never hear the end of it.

Nah don't worry, I'm right there with you. I think people on this new site are a bit more relaxed about there not being any particular dogma as to HOW anti-TRA you have to be. I don't use words like Tim/Tif but I understand why others do. I think removing downvotes on saidit (+ the shock of having our sub deleted!) has really enhanced our unity. I don't see nearly as many comments lecturing others for using the wrong words or being more moderate in their views :)
