They can’t even fathom that a woman can learn things outside their rhetoric and come to a rational conclusion different than their cult spew.

This is the one thing I cannot stand about liberal feminism, and why I've shed any ties with the term feminism altogether.

Every space you find wants to put you in a box. Educate yourself, they say from the ivory towers of university sociology classes and all the spare time in the world to invent things to be upset by. It's just unthinkable that actual oppressed women don't see the problems they do, and they need to be educated. The poor little dears. If only they enlightened themselves enough to sympathize with the plight of manspreading.

When you lie about what I believe about mental health medication and when you misrepresent the views of a trans woman for whom I feel nothing but admiration and solidarity, you cross a line. 2/11

I’ve written and spoken about my own mental health challenges, which include OCD, depression and anxiety. I did so recently in my essay ‘TERF Wars’. I’ve taken anti-depressants in the past and they helped me. 3/11

Many health professionals are concerned that young people struggling with their mental health are being shunted towards hormones and surgery when this may not be in their best interests. 4/11

Many, myself included, believe we are watching a new kind of conversion therapy for young gay people, who are being set on a lifelong path of medicalisation that may result in the loss of their fertility and/or full sexual function. 5/11

These concerns were explored by the recent BBC documentary about the Tavistock Clinic. Whistleblowers were talking about transitions driven by homophobia. https://bit.ly/31KLdRf 6/11

As I’ve said many times, transition may be the answer for some. For others, it won’t – witness the accounts of detransitioners. “The system sees surgery as the easy fix to girls who do not conform.” https://bit.ly/31LWP6L4/11 7/11

Sophie is a trans woman and a true feminist ally. She was making the point that anti-depressants were over-prescribed to teenagers in the past, with serious consequences. https://bit.ly/2VNqyIK 8/11

The long-term health risks of cross-sex hormones have been now been tracked over a lengthy period. These side-effects are often minimised or denied by trans activists. https://bit.ly/38F0GnD 9/11

Carl Henegan, professor of evidence-based medicine at Oxford University, has described the off-label use of puberty blockers on under-18s as an ‘unregulated live experiment on children’. https://bit.ly/3dVU6Kg 10/11

None of that may trouble you or disturb your belief in your own righteousness. But if so, I can’t pretend I care much about your bad opinion of me. 11/11

She is likely one of the rare types that pass 100% and earned her pronouns. That used to be how it worked. You got called ''ma'am'' and ''she'' when that is what people saw when they looked at you. OR, that you people started to call you when you revealed yourself to be a solid, good friend, and they adapted to make you feel better. Before the mass gaslighting began and we owed this emotional labor to strangers.

Like that lady who pretended to be black and was rejected by the black community. I hundred per cent agreed with the black community on that matter but then somehow I felt that the same argument for trans people would made me a transphobe so I had to hide it deep down in my brain.

Why is this somehow not an acceptable counter-argument? Literally how is it not okay for a white lady (oppressor) to ''identify'' as Black and change her body to reflect that, but it's stunning and brave for a man (oppressor) to identify as a woman and discard all of his privilege the instant he says ''I'm a woman''?

Has anyone tried bringing this up? What do they typically say? Getting mainstream feminists to realize that transwomen still have enormous male privilege - yes, even if they never wanted it, directly benefitted in their own view, or ''asked for it''. White people don't get to opt out on those grounds, do they? - is the only way to stop this madness.

  1. It shuts people up. The less dissent you allow, the less other people will see. They were born male and are used to using their privilege to become the ultimate authorities. There are also aggregators like Russia involved.

  2. The male-led pharmaceutical companies and for-profit healthcare in the USA is also incentivized to keep people from thinking too hard about whether they need to transition.

  3. When your identity is literally based off other people's words and positive validation from the community you ''belong'' to, they literally DO feel like taking that away from them is hateful. That's how entitlement and a need for validation works. If they were so confident in their womanhood, nothing anyone says could take that from them and they could handle dissent.

oh and

  1. They can always pull the ''It'll be your fault if I kill myself'' - quoth every single abusive man when you try to leave, ever

[–]venecia 32 insightful - 3 fun32 insightful - 2 fun33 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

I was around to watch the birth of all this bullshit when Tumblr got popular.

the accepted dogma seemed to be that trans people suffer from gender dysphoria, which is best treated by transitioning and using their favoured pronouns was a way of helping them not experience even more dysphoria.

Basically it just kept going from there. Misgendering became a literal hate crime instead of a mistake someone made. Being excluded from anything women have for themselves made them feel more dysphoria - hate crime. Talking about periods makes them feel excluded - hate crime. Lesbians saying they don't like dick - hate crime.

It really is that simple. They took their former privilege as white males, found an avenue of guaranteed victimization, and ran with it. Incels have now discovered that they can transition and then guilt women into having sex with them lest they be branded transphobes. It's crazy as hell.. welcome back!

Dementia care advice for trans patients by AraucariaAraucana in GenderCritical

I mean, I don't think that's exactly fair. Many patients with advanced dementia can't recall lots of other facets of their core identity. You're just as likely to have to talk them down from panicking about being referred to as the wrong gender as you are to remind them of the current year and that you're not their mother. Some multi-lingual people don't even speak their mother tongue!

That said, I'm interested to know exactly how carers are being told to deal with this. Are they even allowed to fib to patients and ''misgender'' them, even if not doing so would bring them more distress?

Oh wait it's here. Jesus..

They also include advice on how to help a transgender person with dementia to maintain their preferred appearance when they can no longer do it themselves.

So we're to force a dress on a man even if he no longer identifies as a woman? What the what now?

I didn't hit peak trans until one of THOSE people was encountered in real life. You know, the rainbow haired barely-disguished men in dresses busting for the chance to use women's spaces. The ones that we all convinced ourselves and others were strawmen made up to discredit trans rights.

He latched on to me and decided we were instant friends. He had terrible body odor (fruitlessly covered up by cheap flowery perfume) and spent the entire lesson burping on me and loudly clearing his throat/gargling snot in that loud way that men do. The only indication in dress or otherwise that he identified as a woman was a female name, and rainbow hair. But the last straw was when I quitely stole away in the middle of the lesson to use the toilet without announcing anything, only to return to find him emerging from the ladies restroom to ask where I'd gone (thank god I used another up the stairs). Why would he do that? When classes ended for the day he asked where I lived, and kept bothering me for contact information on social media before I relented and took his phone number.

And then it just hit me like a truck that he was allowed to do all of this with no other requirement other than say he ''felt'' like a woman, and asking to be called a different name. And that he had a penis. And that he was so thoroughly socialized male that he didn't see how any of what he was doing should be uncomfortable or threatening to ''another'' woman.

Yes, I admit that I was selfish enough to see all of you as t-slurs right up until the kind of people you were warning me about actually exist and actually do this stuff.

a lot of the young women who've drank the kool-aid won't wake up until they themselves are attacked in some way

Can confirm, that's the only way I ever could have possibly peaked. Being the object of obsession of a morbidly obese, rainbow haired brute who ''identified'' as a woman and tried to follow me to the toilet is the only thing that could have done it. Before it happened to me, that was just some bullshit story from a T*** because the TRAs are so vocal about predators/not-even-attempting-to-pass ''transwomen'' only existing in transphobic fantasies.

The takeaway here is to pull the Biden approach: lie in wait and offer them enough rope to hang themselves, and then sweep up the pieces. It's already happening and will only accelerate the more of these low-lifes people actually have to be subjected to irl.

Thanks for being here. I only speak for myself but it warms my heart when older trans people and younger ones who are capable of reason stand up to this absolute bullshit whereby the most oppressed person in any given place has the right to act however they want.

[–]venecia 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, GC on reddit went seriously off the rails at times, and TRAs were constantly in there roleplaying as man-hating TERFs so they would have something outrage worthy to share. Like right there.

No reasonable person here thinks those comments were okay, except maybe the ones about being disappointed about a baby's sex (happens to lots of women, with both girls and boys).

r/actuallesbians are super paranoid right now about making sure "No terfs get in here." It's kind of funny by [deleted] in GenderCritical

Yeah, I feel like ''old guard'' trans people are pretty allied in being horrified by all this and really wishing it would stop. All that they worked for is going up in smoke if these hyperwoke continue to witch hunt and add former allies to the backlash. I'm for damn sure not sticking around when the response to ''I'm not a witch, I just don't think I should kneel and kiss the ring of the pope'' is ''Hmm, that sounds like something a witch would say!''

I'm so sorry that you were duped like that and that you were in any way encouraged in doing something so dangerous. I understand the pain and desperation you felt and how wonderful it feels to come across something that so many other people tell you is the ultimate cure. You weren't stupid for believing it: we're all here because we accepted the TRA bs ourselves, though obviously some of us were outright victimized before learning better.

I'm so glad that you won't have any longstanding health problems and that you are on track to get to the root of it all. Thank you for sharing with us!

There seemed to be unanimous support - does the average woman with PCOS support female erasure or were they being brigaded by TRA trolls who want it to seem like women are ok with this?

Here is a link to the thread that set it on the course to shutting down and going private. It's pretty clear to see that ordinary users were sick of this shit, but they're trying to make it out like they were outliers or T***s.

You're free to make your own choice here, but I've never had good experiences with male romantic partners who say that women's concerns about safety are ''fear mongering'' with no basis in reality. Or talk in that Voice of Great Male Authority that ''well IIIIIIIII have never felt unsafe in a bathroom/on the street late at night''. Everyone knows that tone. The one where you KNOW you have to agree with the weaponized mediocrity and let this neckbeard tell you what your experience is, or you'll be arguing for hours.

That's funny, because the admins have been telling us mods in a mainstream woman's subreddit that subreddit participation is NOT an acceptable reason to ban the user, and could result in us being removed. We are allowed to ban, say, a poster on T_D (before it got the axe) ONLY if they break the rules, not a moment before.

The idea was that nobody should be branded a bad-faith user simply based off subreddit participation. Back when reddit gave a shit about assuming good faith.

And aren't they supposed to be dysphoric? There are very inexpensive options available to a transman who no longer wants to menstruate, which certainly a dysphoric individual would take advantage of.

Instead they're hanging around women's communities constantly reading all about periods and childbirth and demanding to be included. Um? I thought you were leaving? They ought to be part of MGTOW with the level of not leaving they're committing to.

Shit, I thought this was a one-off that I only got. I deleted the associated account. Thank god that I never chose to use an email address with my main accounts.

This is an awfully weird coincidence and I wouldn't be surprised if they're sending these out with the intended purpose of ''Hey! Here's an old account! Is it associated with this email address?'' Click ''yes'' and reddit now can see your IP and definitively link it to all other accounts you have. Click ''no'' (which I did, and now regret), and pray that they don't scrape your IP anyway/notice which account you're using when the page opens.

Don't click shit. Wait a week or so to throw them off the trail, and quietly go in, renuke, and delete the account.

No no, I get it 100%. I would have stumbled across this too if I had found this kind of resource when I was young and figuring it out.

What people mean when they are asking ''how do lesbians have sex'' is how sex is done with two vulvas and no penis. And instead of getting a clear answer to the damn question, they have to be spun around about what the term ''lesbian'' even means before having their questions answered.

I'm so pissed for young queer girls having to deal with this shit.

Not at all surprised that the de-facto Livejournal replacement that in Tumblr magnified this foolishness by a million!

NYC recognises 3 genders on birth certificates (M, F, and X for nonbinary).

What the actual fuck. Medical professionals should be clearly stating the sex of the neonate for the purposes of the child's future healthcare.

And the fact that you can just choose the sex of your baby at birth against available evidence is batshit insane, and HAS raised some very fucked up children who struggle with mental health issues for life.

Manage the feelings of men at all times. Anticipate what feelings they may get and work around them. After all, men's feelings can turn dangerous or deadly in a heartbeat.

What we're seeing in the TRA community is people who have been thoroughly socialized as white males who believe that their feelings are more enormously important than anything in the world, and they still feel entitled to coddling and invisible ''feelings management'' from women despite, bafflingly, wanting to become one. Don't point out that realizing that their feelings are not the most important thing in the world is Step 1 in actually becoming a woman. They don't want any of the self-sacrifice that we've been taught to do forever.

Exactly. And actually, for some of them, the aspect of their fetish that is the most gratifying is knowing that they have infiltrated women's spaces and are getting away with it. Straight from the horse's mouth. The validation they supposedly need to feel like women/human being can be used by the fetishists and there is literally no distinguishing between them.
