How do you all feel about Blaire White? by Kai_Decadence in GenderCritical

[–]owmygenderfeels 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Blaire is a man, not a "she/her", and a sexist MRA, anyway. He's not worth listening to and I'm certainly sick of seeing "GC feminists" promoting him, which you see every now and again. Often with female pronouns. It's bullshit; pronouns are not rewards for good behaviour or for "passing". Even with the "nice" TIMs (so... not Blaire White) who try to side with GC feminists, I will never trust them. I appreciate any trans people pushing back against the biggest crazies, self-ID, indoctrination of children, etc. but TIMs are still using womanhood as a costume instead of just saying they're gender nonconforming men, and I cannot shake the suspicion that acceptance of their "womanhood" by "TERFs" is the ultimate validation for them. And some women still can't shake their female socialisation and their need to placate and encourage men.

And r/banfemalehatesubs, the sub that documented the female hate subs that Reddit chose to leave up, was banned along with the rest— right after they made a post about the misogynistic hypocrisy of the banwave.

It was only reinstated because the banfemalehatesubs admin threatened to go to the media after being rebuffed by Reddit admin (in an unprofessional manner, too, showing how confident they are in their unaccountability). Banfemalehatesubs users sent it viral on twitter.

Even after being reinstated and some of the misogynist subs were banned, banfemalehatesubs' megalist of female hate subs is still huge.

The Real Female Dating Strategy documents what happened on Twitter: https://archive.is/OdSAv, https://archive.is/CAmb9, https://archive.is/g7FPz, https://archive.is/9wjGm, https://archive.is/O6ikt

Archived Reddit page of the attempt by feminists to communicate with Reddit Admin: https://archive.vn/4rdp9 (all "continue this thread" links also archived). Reddit Admin are documented repeatedly demonstrating misogynistic condescension and a refusal to answer questions. They also demonstrated a sudden and pointed double standard in respectfully responding with suggested actions to another user who raised their own concerns in that same thread. Said user had made sure to state that "we are run by a trans admin and were created specifically to include trans women perceived as female".

Reddit admin also demonstrated a sexist, antifeminist double standard in comment removal in that thread: https://ibb.co/4KrcChq. Ceddit pages: https://archive.is/bbecM, https://archive.is/9PP7J

But it also comes across as rote-learning when you scratch the surface.

I agree with this comment:

In almost every instance, I’d agree that in order to have a valid opinion, you have to at least watch the thing you’re criticizing, but for something that is potentially pedophilic, I’m all for prejudiced critiques without having viewed the content, simply because the act of viewing the content gives the manufacturers of said content a “win” anyways. And in a world that values quantity of quality (i.e. the story will just read “this is what is trending on Netflix”, without contextualizing that many of the ppl who have caused it to trend were overwhelmingly mortified and have since cancelled their Netflix accounts) it encourages others to make similar content, thus contributing to the increase in more potentially pedophilic content.

It would be like me purchasing an offensive album, so that I can burn it as a demonstration against said offensive album. It still counts as another unit sold at the record company. Purchasing it is counterproductive to my cause, and by doing so, I become part of the problem and not the solution.

You can criticise the sexualisation of female children without giving pedophiles something to put in their spank bank.

Seriously, I've seen child dancers whose performances were unnecessarily sexualised, and it was creepy as hell, but this is so much worse. The footage of their performance just looks like what you would see if a pedophile started a strip club. The dance moves are just straight out of explicit stripping routines and mimic porn moves, and the costumes are intended to show off their crotches and arses while the dance moves draw focus to these areas. And if that's not enough, the fucking camera work makes it clear whose eyes we're seeing this through, just in case it wasn't obvious enough already.

Men who think it's no big deal should be regarded with suspicion.

About three years ago, I noted on gendercritical Reddit that the percentage of trans people being claimed to commit suicide had increased from 40% to fucking 50%. Fifty percent! And it was being parrotted around everywhere without question, even by paid journalists. Then the percentage went up to 60% (it had been 40% two years previously) and I said that at the rate they were going, in a few short years they would be saying it was 100%. I was joking!

I have in the past worked with Tims and Tifs and currently work with a Tim. I don't really care in professional contexts. I also work with people who are white supremacists, and people who think that covid-19 was made in a lab. I don't discuss those things with them.

You're not required to affirm the white supremacist's beliefs or the COVID conspiracies, though.

OP is not comfortable being in that class anymore, and there's no issue with changing classes if she can. It's not that she needs to learn to be tolerant of different beliefs, it's that her own differing beliefs, which could slip out even if she tries to hide them, could potentially have ramifications for her as a student. Many of us know from experience that small slips like with pronouns, new names, etc. can be met with wildly disproportionate lashing out and punishment, and not even from the trans person necessarily, but their supporters vying for social capital. There's no way of knowing for sure whether the trans person or their supporters will do that or will be more live and let live. But this issue is way more heated in a university environment than in most workplaces. So why risk it?

TRA's on twitter foaming about the term ''womxn'' by koonay in GenderCritical

[–]owmygenderfeels 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Replacing a letter with a little x is 100% a queer theory/TRA thing and I don't know why they're suddenly rejecting it, or why rejecting it necessitates pretending their own PC term that they invented was being imposed onto them externally.

"Womyn" already existed and was used by radfems, as well as a few variants like womon, wimmin. The idea was to reject how the words "woman" and "women" sound like women are defined in relation to men (the etymology is more complicated than this, but that is nevertheless what the words "man and woman" and "men and women" look like and how most people read them).

"Womxn" was not one of those variants; it was invented by TRAs and that crowd to create an alternate spelling of "woman" that wasn't tainted with the terfy connotations of "womyn". Their reasons for an alternate spelling of "woman" was to render the term "gender neutral", according to their definition of gender neutrality which involves erasing recognition of sex rather than rejecting gender roles. They rejected the already-existing "womyn" to distance themselves from radical feminists ("TERFs") and emphasise their differing motivations for coming up with it. Look at "Latinx"; I don't know which came first (though I suspect it's "Latinx"), but the repeat of replacing a letter with an x is meant to signify that the same people—the correct people—came up with it and their motivations are the correct kweer theory motivations. It's intended to reinforce TRA/queer theory group identity. I don't know why these TRAs are pretending this example of queer theory shit was invented by anyone other than their own community.
