Oh yeah, and we've also been told that even wanting it is bitchy and demanding. Never you mind that tradition sees men proposing, and they're the ones CHOOSING these ''bitchy'' ''demanding'' women and CHOOSING this life-ending-sacrifice instead of the sticking with the cool girl who is down with whatever.

It's outright horrifying how women aren't even supposed to want marriage anymore for the sake of ''equality''. Play mommy, take care of his kids, but don't you dare ask for commitment.

ETA: And the ''cheapest/least fussy wedding'' contest on reddit is always my favorite! Where women are celebrated for asking the least in return and pretending like the thing they've been told to want their whole lives is something they couldn't care less about

I'm currently in the process of planning a wedding, and it's insane that in the various online wedding communities I've joined, I don't think I've ever seen a single man posting there. My fiancé is actually super involved in the decision making and communication with vendors, and people keep commenting how good it is of him. It seems like yet another way that women are groomed to expect the bare minimum from their partners and take on the majority of the workload.

i never got how this was supposed to make the man seem more sympathetic. Like, what does it say about HIM if he wants to marry a woman that he sees as a nag.
