Just because I use the same term for multiple things doesn't mean I equate them all.

Wow! Here's the thing... it's not anorexia if you actually weigh 400 pounds.

That takes a lot of doublethink to hold... it's about hormones and not about hormones at the same time?

Alright, fine. You can do that. I'm not going to stop you from protecting girls and women from abuse and injustice. I'm not asking you to compromise on that.

Haha no. Puberty is not traumatic for everyone - at least not in the way that it is for trans people. Imagine if you had a hormone condition when you went through puberty. You would get a beard and chest hair, your voice would deepen, etc. Now, imagine not being allowed to correct that because hormones are restricted - you can't correct it until you're 18. That's what being trans would be like if we didn't allow puberty blockers.

And, wow. Trans boys can play on the boys' team, but trans girls can't play on the girls' team? That's a double standard if I've ever seen one!

I'm still open to a compromise...

Do you know how traumatic going through the wrong puberty can be? Forbidding medical transition until somebody is 18 can ruin their life.

Or how horrible it feels to be on the hypothetical "trans sports team"? Imagine that... out of the, say, 13 trans kids in a large high school, maybe 6 or 7 are out, and only 2 or 3 probably want to play sports. How the hell could you get funding for that kind of thing?

"invading everything and expecting everyone to change and play along with their worldview"

Yeah, we aren't doing that. I'm fine with compromising, but you all are asking for far too much.

Okay, you're right. "hateful" is a too strong word.

However, it is very much insulting, and definitely uncalled for. Additionally, while it may not have been posted by a GC user, the upvotes show their opinion towards it.

It's a stab that you're taking for absolutely no reason - even if it's just a prick to the finger.

Hate is insulting a group of people for no other reason whatsoever.

If somebody says "Women are all ugly cowards", wouldn't that be anti-woman? Couldn't you use it to infer that that person hates women?

Living in harmony with trans people. Is it possible? What are some compromises which would allow us to keep our spaces? by [deleted] in GenderCritical

[–]theachan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Trans person here! You asked, so I'm answering.

  1. Children aren't put on puberty blockers - that's not going to happen. Dream on.

  2. Keep women's sports for women only - OK. I get it. That's fine.

  3. Be allowed to date whoever we want without being labelled bigots - Yep. That's ok.

  4. Your spaces - If you allow post-op trans women, potentially?

  5. "trans women aren't women" - No. That's basically unconditional surrender. If you want to differentiate from us, you always have "cis women".

  6. Crime statistics - OK, separate trans category. That's fine.

  7. Pronouns - Another non-negotiable.

Some other people might have less, but that's as far as I'll go when it comes to compromising.
