By all means, do what you want to do. That said, the human you are replying to cannot be reasoned with, likely lacks critical thinking skills and suffers from low self esteem. The human has only offered insults, straw men and ad hominem tactics. The human you replied to is a "right fighter", a person who argues to feel superior, not a person who has conversation to uncover accuracy.

So in short, hey, thanks! That's a huge compliment! We will go on to colonize other planets in our galaxy and given enough time, we will explore far away worlds too--using exactly those traits that got us this far.

Adopting a newborn is competitive and expensive, usually costing nearly 50 thousand dollars in the U.S., with the matching process taking years for many who wish to adopt. While many people would be willing to adopt a newborn who would have otherwise been aborted, cost, not morality, is often the issue.

Your premise, like the title of this post, is uniformed and oversimplified. You expect to hurdurdur your way through a complex topic, which is depressingly common.

RBG had no such simplified position. She understood the complexity very well and had this to say

It's a great question, I'm glad you posted it--and it's such a weird answer. Everything atom that makes you or I, was something else at one point. All of the information that is you and I, will become many other things--with the cycle repeating over and over.

If arranged it so when I die, my body is literally planted underneath a sapling or seed, and a large tree grew & survived because of the nutrients my body supplied, would I theoretically continue to live on in some “form” forever, just as part of a tree? by [deleted] in whatever

This is fairly easy to answer. We are the arrangement. If we were the matter itself, unimpacted by arrangement, I could exist as a spherical cow of plasma. I could shapeshift and still be me, which of course, would be fucking awesome. But if I use a shotgun and rearrange my brain atoms to become wall art, "me" won't be around to appreciate the art.

If you cut off your finger and bury it in a house plant, where your finger then becomes food for the plant, are you alive in the plant as well as in your own body? What if you don't even cut off your finger, what if you just count the millions of atoms you exhale in each cycle of your breath and pair them with the atoms shed from your skin, on a simple walk across your lawn, or a walk in a park. All of those atoms are being committed back to the environment, with some becoming food for the blades of grass. Are you alive in your body, and in each blade of grass?

Not all atoms from which we are made give us our sense of self. Only a small amount of the atoms that form our bodies exist in the central structure where consciousness occurs--our brain. Consciousness isn't found in any one of the individual atoms, but in the collective structures formed by those atoms. As these structures deteriorate, so does consciousness and thusly, sense of self.

Again, you (as in sense of self) are not the atoms, "you" are the result of structures created by atoms. No structure, no you. You will not live on as a tree because you become tree food. Your atoms, however, will persist for some time--think in frames of billions of universe life times.

In my opinion, instead of worrying about whether or not you will live on as a tree-being, make the most of this short time line where some atoms are currently arranged in a fashion that has produced Enza. I suggest you look at the people you love, the people you hate and realize they are all temporary formations--learn to love them more, or hate them less--whatever the case may be.

What the fuck is he saying? Is that a single sentence? Is it a coherent thought?

Look. I'm not trying to be a dick here. I'm trying to figure out what the man (Biden) is trying to say, so I can tell if I agree or not. But his speech is slurred, his pauses are strange and his thoughts aren't exactly clear.

I think the Biden is trying to say that the police involved in the Blake shooting should be charged. I think he is suggesting the officers in the Taylor shooting should be charged and I think he is suggesting the terrorist behind the recent Portland shooting should be charged. But I'm guessing because the man can't form a coherent sentence. How is this supposed to play out if he's actually elected? Are we going to have a translator? Will Harris just take over immediately?

Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk. Time is a cruel bitch and it will steal dignity, capacity and strength from all of us who endure enough of it. But I just don't see how this can work out with Biden as President.

Here is how I feel about open carry.

  1. It makes the person in open carry the first target. It's basically only useful in a combat environment where the enemy is expecting arms no matter what.

  2. If a person insists on open carry to support 2A, I do not care what their political background is, please make the rest of us gun owners look sane. Learn the sling arms positions and carry in one of those. If you are in open carry for anything other than a combat purpose, sling arms should suffice.

Political orientation has exactly nothing to do with my position, larping happens across the board. In short, if you aren't carrying due to a known and expected threat, please don't choose an aggressive stance--every 2A supporter will benefit.

A former boss and now good friend of mine, an older man, escaped communist Poland and eventually made his way to the U.S., where he worked diligently, day and night, until he could start his own company. He isn't a billionaire, but he is very comfortable.

He's a tall man. As a teen he was a gifted athlete and on a sponsored basketball team. The team did well and set off to western Europe for a match, it was during this trip he escaped. He escaped. Those are important words. He could not take any belongings with him, monitors checked for that kind of activity as they knew from previous experience, some would use the opportunity to flee for a better life. Think about that...he was NOT free to leave. He was a prisoner with country sized borders.

He left his family, his siblings, his friends and everything he knew. He was about 15 years old. Imagine the strength and courage the entire family had to have. His father had to let him go, his mother had to let him go, it was his only chance. The other siblings were not on the team, it's not like he could take them with, or he would have.

I'm at a loss for words when I read the propaganda that is accepted on platforms like reddit. I feel for the young, brainwashed, indoctrinated youth who are being lured along a dangerous path. I feel for them.

This country is far from perfect, far. But to date, it has been a global leader in many areas related to freedom. It is NOT a perfectly free country, there is work to be done. We find "bugs" in the code and we need to patch. Sometimes the patch causes two more bugs than it fixed. Humans are not perfect, thus no country is perfect. It's among the best models we've had so far and communism is clearly a step backwards.

I guess what I'm wondering is whether or not people thing immunity needs to be removed completely. We basically have 3 potential levels:

  1. Complete Immunity (obviously a poor choice)
  2. Partial Immunity (meets certain qualifiers)
  3. No Immunity.

I just don't see how 1 or 3 can work. I think the solution is to keep working on the qualifications under option 2. I'm no attorney, so I'm limited to what I can even start to suggest. But when I read other average people like myself who write about the topic, they seem to think option 3 can work. To me, option 1 is ridiculous and option 3 is easily gamed. Think about organization like Scientology who overwhelmed courts, option 3 lends to this very thing.

I'm out of my comfort zone here and don't have a solution myself. I just don't see how it can be option 3.

This man Darwin'd off the planet. I'm a 2A supporter, I support open carry. I don't support moronic behaviour.

If it is true that this man simply wanted to practice open carry as a secondary to his blm support, he should have understood his environment much better. The man knew he was attending a protest. The man knew (we know this from his own commentary) that some number of people oppose the protest--he called those people pussies who hated the protestors. So he goes into a charged environment, claiming to have a secondary task of supporting a Constitutional right. Ok, maybe not the best time to mix and match, but whatever, it can be done if you do a little thinking.

Speaking of thinking, he didn't do any. My biggest problem is how he carried the firearm. If his purpose was to support 2A, he should have had carried the firearm in a crossbody, weak or strong-side sling position. Again, if the point is to just say hey, I have this right to bring my firearm outside, no need for any aggressive stance. But many pictures and video show him carrying in tactical and alert positions. Tactical and Alert positions are far more intimidating than say, a weak-side sling, barrel down position.

I guarantee you, had he approached the car in a weak-side sling position and the driver still fired on him, that driver would already be charged with a crime, likely some level of murder.

This imbecile, who I'm supposed to believe supports 2A, showed zero common sense and zero discipline. He's dead because he was larping as some kind of street commando. I have sympathy for him and for his family. It has to suck to die and to lose a loved one to larping.

And as a side note, he also showed that he was lying about supporting 2A. He clearly used a show of force. If his intention was to support 2A, he would have focused on the importance of not getting involved or escalating any kind of aggression. He would want to make open carry look safe and non-threatening. He was carrying that weapon because he was playing soldier and loving the attention. This is one of the DUMBEST reasons to open carry.

He's not the only person to make this type of open carry mistake. Some say he's a good guy, a Libertarian. Who fucking cares what his political orientation is. I can find video after video from people across the political spectrum, making similar mistakes--Foster just happens to have died because of it.

This man is not to be admired or followed, he is to be pitied and used as an example of what not to do. His mother and all those who loved him now suffer...and for what? So he could play commando, name call his opponents and point a 7.62mm rifle at a person using their car...on a road. I know, what an odd place for a car.

Edit: If you are a blm supporter OR you are heading to ANY protest and feel the need to support 2A at the same time:

  1. If you are carrying a rifle, go with a sling position. I recommend crossbody, muzzle down <--Won't wear your arms out.
  2. Know your environment. Are you in Syria, or in Blue-ass Austin Texas. (choose your carry position accordingly)
  3. Never point at anything you do NOT intend to shoot.
  4. Know that your open carry is no smarter than telegraphing a punch. The enemy sees it coming and can plan for it.
  5. If you find yourself in the position of Foster, let your last words be, I'm an idiot, do not follow. If you can't save your own life, save another.

I'll clarify action and differentiate it from behaviour. An action is you choosing whether or not you will for example, open your browser, read a submission, reply to a submission or create your own submission. Behaviour is what is expected once you've made the choice to perform an action. You choose to submit, you must follow submission policy, you choose to post, you must follow posting policy.

You are not bound to any action. You do not have to read a submission, reply to a submission or create your own content for submission. These actions belong to you, this platform does not require you to perform any of these actions. This is where you practice self control and self governance. Choose your actions wisely and this platform can benefit you.

Her presentation is funny. It's kinda like those comedy channel people who talk about serious issues, then make a joke and lampoon who or whatever they've decided to target. It's funny, remember?

She absolutely does care about what some people think and she markets herself to those people quite effectively. She's a voice in a specific echo chamber.

While I happen to share some views with her, I don't find her particularly effective when trying to reach anyone outside of her belief structure. I see her more as a motivational speaker who keeps her own team engaged more than I see her as a strategist who furthers any of the team's causes. That said, teams benefit from such reinforcement and I suppose you can proxy her to furthering the cause via the motivation mechanism if you like to stretch.

As far as not tiptoeing around issues, no, she often just side steps them or causes a diversion--this is her job. Take the Floyd issue, where she decided to make the narrative, "he's not a martyr", when clearly the narrative was his unjust death. This tactic allowed her team to relieve themselves of the burden of seeing that they could do wrong. Humans, none of us, like to believe we or our team, might sometimes be the problem. Those who drink the kool aid have a canned response, it goes something like, 'she already said Floyd's death was wrong'. Of course she did, so she could move forward with the distraction and not look like a complete sociopath.

Again, this tactic was helpful to her team, I do not contest the efficacy. It did not however bring anyone new on board, but I already covered that, it's not her job. I'm not putting her down, she does her job effectively.

I'm hopeful that those of us who support for instance, 2nd A, will find someone who can speak beyond the echo chamber. To do that, the person will have to listen to the concerns of those outside the belief structure, they may even have to tiptoe from time to time.

If he wasn't asking for investors why would you even offer? If you've got 20 years in, you should fully understand there is a process to seeking and vetting investors. No one in their right mind is going to hand over direction to some guy off the street unless the investment offer is absurdly high.

I worry about how much context is left out of any meme. To me, when I look at political memes, I see nothing more than over-simplification of complex issues which often dismiss the spectrum of human individuality. I just can't find any single one of them, "amazing".

That said, I regret calling the post "garbage", it wasn't helpful and likely only served to have the OP feel insulted and dismiss any better point I could have made.

It's not alive here either. Free speech takes work and Voat has shown people don't want to do the work.

Voat tried to allow free speech. Extremists took advantage and started speaking. Those who oppose extremism then fled, so they themselves wouldn't look extremist. What needed happen was just the opposite, regular people needed to join in number and simply drown out the extremist voices. But why would anyone take such a risk in our current cancel climate?

Social media has decreased and degridated free speech, Saidit is no different because people are no different.
