A country with 100% ppl wearing masks is generally effective at preventing water droplet spread, which can be a major source of transmission. When a large chunk of the population doesn't comply, it's generally ineffective. It also doesn't protect the mask wearer, but protects others from YOUR water droplets.

Soft lockdowns are generally ineffective. If 100% of ppl comply, it may slow down the rate of transmission, which could be good for hospital overloads. A strict 1-2 month lockdown would have eradicated the virus for good and we wouldn't have to go through 2 years of bullshit.

A common mainstream saying is that there was propaganda on both sides of the war. The essential problem is that in the aftermath, mainstream never identified what the propaganda was on our side.

Hibiki in the other thread gave an estimate of up to 10,000 unjustified deaths, but that was based on no evidence and just theory. I doubt it was that low. Another more evidence based book I skimmed over estimated 100k.

In the end, it's hard to reach a strong estimate if government factions are shutting down speech and investigation.

Funny, the 2nd author is a teacher from a secondary school.

However, the study is done fairly poorly if we talk pure science. They need to collect a lot more variables such as level of preventative measures, rate of reporting/recording COVID cases, the % of ppl still semi-quarantining, etc. for each region. And then do a multivariable analysis to see if there are any other factors affecting the data.

For instance, a high level of vaccination rate could arguably cause the population or government to be less strict on preventative measures.

A low level of vaccinate rate in a county could mean the people just don't care, meaning they also won't care about going to the doctor for a mild/moderate cold and thus a COVID case would never be recorded.

Lastly, it's also possible that getting infected and developing innate immunity is a better at preventing a second infection compared to the vaccine. However, this would require you to get infected first whereas the point of a vaccine would be to prevent severe symptoms for the first infection.

Nevertheless, this study was weak.

Government officials aren't health experts. Even numerous health experts are ignorant towards vaccines possibly having limited effects and/or even being dangerous in certain cases. Both mainstream and conservative mainstream are pushing disinformation, so it's hard to figure out the truth.
