I took a Major Black Writers course at a local communtitty collidge once. I was exposed to a lot of great writing by great AA authors from throughout history. One thing I noticed tho, the grades, the papers, the in class essays, were all graded so easily. Easiest A I ever got in a course. From this tiny amt of exposure to lefty social science liberal arts academia, (as a rule, I prefered my non science/math courses in college to be dead, white, and male) I took away the idea that college + identity politics = really lax standards 🤷‍♂️

Recently reread The Silence of the Lambs and I gotta tell ya, they used to do the whole transformer thing diff in America. hate atomic explosion footage because you have no idea of the scale....case in point: one of these explosions is 3 kilotons, which is about the scale of the Beirut munitions and fertilizer explosion from a few years back. I think it's actually closer to 1-2 k estimated yield, but that fucking thing looks huge because it's in the context of all those buildings and ships and the harbor and everything. This 3 kiloton explosion looks tiny, because the camera is so far off and flat with nothing to compare it to but the desert floor, but in reality it's a fucking huge explosion too!
