First frost came through my part of Arkansas this week that damaged many garden plants. I picked this last batch of jalapeno peppers, cayenne peppers, and a small amount of okra. I thank the Lord for this harvest!

First radish of 2023 picked from my garden ~ I chopped up the greens and the globe and fried it into my rice at lunch time. Frying seemed to tame the flavor and make it more mild. (I liked it!) One of the cats helped me eat some of the raw greens!
That is a leaf miner making those trails in the leaf, you have to physically remove each affected leaf away from the plant or they spread rapidly

First Tomato Blossom of 2023 ~ This plant was grown from seed I saved last year. The parent plant was an Early Girl. This plant is the next generation and may have different characteristics from the parent plant. I'm curious how it will perform. So far, it is the *earliest* to blossom.
How do you plant a seedless watermelon? Last year we bought one at the store and ate it.... and I found ONE seed inside the fruit. I saved it and planted it this year.... and it germinated! (The plant is growing in a recycled cup, and was not purchased.)

"Seedless" Watermelon, Second Generation ~ Last year we bought a watermelon from the store and I found one seed inside, planted it in the spring, and from the homegrown fruit, I saved about 64 seeds. It was small, but tasted sweet and refreshing.
Corn damaged by hail failed to grow a full ear.... from my small garden in Arkansas, 3 weeks after the worst hail storm I have ever witnessed. Stalks fell down and leaves were shredded. Farmers also see hail damage. I expect food shortages soon (but trust the Lord to provide, as he always has).

Some pink lemonade berries are ripening on a small bush. I'm surprised the birds did not eat them all.
Purple Plum Radish Blossoms ~ Matching the name, the blossoms are also of a purple color. I almost lost this radish variety. I had old seed, from over 10 years ago, and planted what I had. Several germinated and I am letting them grow and hope to save fresh seed from them.
This snake was a surprise for me today in my garden. I don't know what kind it is.... Do you? This is in Arkansas, USA. [video]
Yellow Bell Pepper in Giant Pot ~ This is my first year to grow pepper plants from free seed I saved, instead of buying plants. This little plant is my best one so far and just got transplanted to its permanent location in a large container.

Cat Tower Muskmelon! This melon was tasty and sweet. And it grew on a cat tower. I planted the seed and 138 days later the melon was ripe in Arkansas. (About 4 months, 16 days)
New frog (or toad?) visited my garden. I have never seen this variety before. It was hiding inside a container of rain water that I use for my plants. I tilted the lid for him, and the next day he was gone.
Water Drops On Green Tomato ~ My garden has been receiving good rain lately and I thank the Lord for that. These plants also survived a massive hail storm on June 14. [Arkansas, USA]
The bees are back in the garden! [video]
Honeybees Dying - Something has changed this year. I wasn't seeing any honeybees in my organic, pesticide-free garden, but then I saw a few, but some acted handicapped, having trouble walking on the flowers. Today, I saw a dead bee on a plant. It just died there? What's happening???
Sad Start for Okra - Many of the okra plants I had started have died or their growth is severely stunted, probably due to the colder than normal temperatures and excessive rain (in Arkansas). This okra plant is trying to make a flower with just one small, slightly yellow leaf!
