One problem is that any ban on a media is the same as two separate policies, one applies risk to paying parties, and another applies risk to non-paying parties. The issue is that applying risk to non-paying parties is identical to copyright policy from an economic point of view. The intent of policy is always irrelevant to economics. Same policy with different intent gives the same results. Demand doesn't actually coordinate with supply in media exchanges until you apply that risk. That's why copyright exists.

But the deminishment of demand from Germany is not going to relinquish the demand from everywhere else so commercial production is going to continue.

Yeah, he was especially good at reaching out to gay teens and giving them actual advice and not just telling that they’re fierce. He was always realistic, I recall numerous times him telling a teen who had written in or called that whilst they were under-18/living with their parents/at college funded by parents, if their parents were anti-gay, just tone that shit down until you can get out on your own. Also, telling them to give their parents a chance and time to get used to things.

His “it gets better” campaign to cut teen gay suicide was rather clever and I believe even the Obamas did a video for it.

I had time for him. But the selling out really made me feel that he could no longer be trusted to be unfiltered (he was always giving harsh truths, especially about some of the deranged kinks and practices some people were doing) but if he was going to pass everything through a woke filter then he was no different than every other progressive outlet.

I kinda agree, it does seem like a half-ass solution, at least as far as explained here. But I'm not sure I agree people who download pictures are "true criminals". I think the true criminals are the people who made them (assuming they weren't self-made). If the goal is to focus more on CP producers and less on people who just have the pictures, that would certainly be a good thing in my opinion. But on the other hand, I'm aware of the practical justification for possession being illegal, which is primarily to destroy the market for commercial production. I suppose there's some doubt about whether a misdemeanor still adequately accomplishes that goal.

I think most are liberal-left who are afraid to admit they were wrong about anything so ridiculous. Their thought leaders are still doubling down, so they'll continue as long as they're surrounded by a critical mass of people that will do the same.

I was listening to some ex-radicals from the 1960s talk about the delusion they were in. I think there's a lot of that going on.
