Ugh, the way he uses the words "cis" (as mentioned already it's pretty clear she's a natal woman as she's his mother...?) and "menopausal" come across as some 4Chan dudebro talking about hOrMonAL wImIn - implying that going through menopause is a thing to be ashamed of and is disgustingly womanly and makes his own mother a swamp witch at best. At the same time he wants to be a "woman" but I am guessing only in this fetishist TRA manner we all are familiar with.

If there was ANY person this confused individual should talk to about hormonal changes and what womanhood is, it is literally his own mother, but alas... Another brainwashed dude who is nothing but a misogynist at heart and has no real understanding (nor the will to even try to gain such understanding) about women.

Because it's bloody EASY. And it's also easy to say it's right-wing - by saying that you can just equate radical feminists and gender critical people with nazis and that's that. POOF. Who on earth would discuss with nazis about their opinions?! No-fucking-body. Painting radfems as rightwing is a mad and pathetic move - but it works for many because it's an easy way out. You hear the word TERF and you're ready to CANCEL. Holy hell. How smart we've become... /s In reality it's the libfems who are doing a massive favour for patriarchy, and they do it with a smile on their face.

JKR is a hero because she has all the chances to literally STFU and stay in line with the TRA - but she doesn't. Because, it seems, she has a conscience. And she is a WOMAN and understands what it means to be one - in a biological and sociological sense.

Every other woman in a prominent position seems to be a weakling that is still trying to be the "cool and good girl not like the others" that just cares and cares and cares - until penis is a female organ. Until anyone can be a woman. Until words have lost their meaning. Until misogyny cannot even be described because if everyone is a woman, nobody is a woman and so on... No oppression, no wrongdoings. And these "wOke" morons think they are on the right side of history! Ah, geez. My fucking god, the idiocy.

Zero respect for those women. Sorry not sorry. If you have nothing constructive to say - at least have the decency to stay quiet, FFS. If you are not brave enough to speak out loud, please shut the fuck up. I understand that especially in the U.S. things are getting WEIRD and you may just need to keep your job which means = silence... But all these Hollywood bigots going TWAW are seriously disturbing. My lord, did Sarah Paulson - A LESBIAN - cancel JKR as well?! Well she could, right. Sorry to say but she is rich enough to have a shit opinion.

The heavy lifting will be done by women in lesser positions, as usual. Whether it's race or economics or being a lesbian or nonconforming or a mixture of all, or something else... We will be the women who actually see and feel when this gender-nonsense takes hold and takes over US as people - as WOMEN - so we will also have to be the ones to kick that shit in its ladyballs.

Take a deep breath, sisters, because I have a feeling we may have to plunge deeper into this genderhole until we can crawl out.

And then they go online, google a bit and ba-dang.

Why would you not open the door? I totally get the OP's other points in supporting women, and I also do not think that not opening the door is somehow "violence against men" etc., but it just rings a bit odd to me. If I see someone struggling to do something - trying to reach an item in a grocery store, trying to open the door with crutches or whatever - I don't care about their sex, age, weight, skin color or any other completely irrelevant thing. I'd just help and go on to live my life.

[–]vitunrotta 34 insightful - 1 fun34 insightful - 0 fun35 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Just read the letter as well and it really resonated with me. I always dreamed of being an investigative journalist (why I never become one is a whole other story...) and I really believed that the moral obligation of any publication (and any individual journo) was to cite facts - not their own opinions. Like, that was the Rule Number 1. Find the truth and expose wrongdoings, no matter who did them and where, so on... Ah, those idealistic dreams one tended to have once.

What we have now in every country, it seems, are people who have the power to report, yet they don't have the courage to report honestly. Each side just spouts their own agenda while truth & facts are a merry fucking mess for these "gatekeepers." Bah! They are no gatekeepers, they aren't guardians anymore. Not sure they ever really were but nowadays they certainly aren't. They're wannabe politicians who didn't have the balls or money to become actual politicians, so they spout their extremely political opinions disguised as "news and reporting."

They also seem to be quite selfish people who think they know best, and therefore must only let their audience hear about their correct opinion. Dissonance will be silenced and ridiculed. Wow, does this sound familiar...?

Here's another quote from her resignation letter: "-- But the lessons that ought to have followed the election—lessons about the importance of understanding other Americans, the necessity of resisting tribalism, and the centrality of the free exchange of ideas to a democratic society—have not been learned. Instead, a new consensus has emerged in the press, but perhaps especially at this paper: that truth isn’t a process of collective discovery, but an orthodoxy already known to an enlightened few whose job is to inform everyone else."

Bye bye to exchanging ideas, free thinking, debate. The correct opinion already exists, and you best obey.

[–]vitunrotta 29 insightful - 1 fun29 insightful - 0 fun30 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'd like to add - having read the book - that Shrier talks to transitioned people (TiF's) and is extremely respectful and polite to them. There isn't a single sentence where she sounds even remotely "phobic" towards these people. It is, unsurprisingly, also these TiF's who feel that ROGD is the "new anorexia" and that it's essentially very harmful to teenage girls, who haven't even had any sexual experiences in their lives. (Many of these young trans-identifying girls haven't even masturbated.)

This just to point out that she is absolutely NOT transphobic but is very concerned about this phenomenon - as one should be. Giving hormone blockers/T freely to teenagers whose brain is still very much developing is nothing short of abuse, in my opinion.

But of course, the lil Wokists won't even look at the book, far less try to read & comprehend it. In their minds it's just terrible fascist propaganda or whatever. Which is funny, because their tactics are very much veering on fascism, not ours...

This finally puts TRA's between a rock and a hard place. If they keep doing this they will inevitably peak more and more people, which I'm sure they're aware of; if they don't keep doing this they are accepting "terrible violence and their right to exist" or whatever. Silence doesn't seem to be an option for them, yet they know the gigantic, gaping loopholes in their own ideology; and that if the normal folks start taking interest they'll be screwed.

Curious to see how they will go about this in the future. Maybe they'll invent a few more woke words to describe the horrible exclusion and mass deaths that occur whenever someone mentions JKR's name?

[–]vitunrotta 25 insightful - 4 fun25 insightful - 3 fun26 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Off topic but oh damn. I think I am SUPER lucky because my native language is extremely genderless (not completely devoid of gender, but still). For example, there isn't really a separate word for sex and gender - our word for gender merely has another added word to the word "sex", which would loosely translate to "sex role." (Sorry if that sounds weird, but my language IS weird, heheh).

We also do not have gendered pronouns! Everyone is the same, always. Just one word for any third person, that's it.

Oh and, of course no specific gender-identified words. We don't have a or the, and more importantly la and le, or um and uma... there are just words. My god, I love my language, because even thinking of someone adding the (Finnish) word of gender in any form would be nothing but laughable.

I do feel you though. Wish I could send you a shit ton of pens and markers so you could further your agenda! Hell yeah! Supporting you from afar :)

THIS. A lot of feminists tend to think that by saying "religious people need to have their rights as well" means that the people who criticize certain aspects of (mainly Abrahamic) religions are trying to ostracize the followers of any such religion. Nuh-uh, hun. You grew up in a secular household? Cool for you. Not all of us did, though. A lot you people have zero idea. And - this might be a wild idea for many - criticizing a movement, ideology, religion or other belief is not fucking PHOBIA. It's common sense.

I'd wager that those feminists - which is a pitifully small number nowadays - who speak against any misogynist religion - are not condemning the people in whichever religion. They are questioning, condemning and criticizing the fucking religion itself - and of course those who uphold it (umm, duh, MEN. And yes, also the women who were successfully brainwashed.)

Having grown up in a sect I can honestly say it is NOT a fucking choice and usually going against it means you will be cast out. I would have loved to have someone speak openly against this goddamn sect I grew up in - instead of having y'all copping out by some stupid ass "uGh I diDn'T LivE thAt Live sO I wiLl shut Up hurr durrr" reasons. I was looked down upon, made fun of, ostracized, bullied - by my classmates, teachers, friends, friends' parents... all because of something I never even fucking chose. All because I was a "part of that weird sect." And fucking NOBODY asked if I was doing okay, if things were alright at home, if I needed help. Nobody. So I have my very realistic reasons for condemning people who think "aaw religion!" and then looking away like it's some kind of a cop-out. UGH. It's not.

Nobody chooses to be a hardcore (pick-which-ever-Abrahamic-religion-follower) at the ripe age of fucking ZERO. Nobody.

No. Fucking. Body. It is pure brainwashing and indoctrination since day 1 and it is wrong and harmful and extremely misogynistic pretty much 99.9999% of the time. I am in awe - not the good one, the shit one - when I see my feminist sisters would even try to defend this kind of shit. Take a good look at yourselves and then take another, BETTER look at yourselves and then - maybe then - come and give me a lesson about religious violence. I'm so fucking done.

This is an important point, actually. We tend to think a specific person is suddenly very aware of so many things - especially things that are trending... For fuck's sake. There are probably 6 really super famous people on this planet who give two ACTUAL shits (one of them being JK Rowling of course) without some well-paid PR team telling them what to do and say 24/7.

After they "release" their "official statement" on some very "believable platform" like Twitter or Instagram, that's it. They can go on and enjoy their days without any further annoyances. No need to think for yourself! Your self has already been thunk for, hun.

Oh but lest you forget - they are our Feminist Heroes™ who will fight for wOMeN's riGhTs! small print: for me to have 30 million.^

Side note, I do think that actors of any sex should get the money their part deserves (screen time/importance/whatnot) but let's not kid ourselves. The Hollywood women are not exactly the leaders of any movement - rather, they prefer to STOP movements (sadly of their own lips and eyes, usually).

First of all - thank you! It has been kind of a Mad Max: FURIOSA Road, and yet I am content I reached this moment, though it took some time.

The Karen meme has been extremely conflicting to me. I know there are loads of people in the U.S. who are massive, gaping, racist assholes, as we've seen - but I am yet to see a single video of a MAN doing the same. It's always the KAREN. KAREN is horrible, terrible, not good, very bad.

Let's be real here though - the "Karens" in these videos are belligerent racists. But hum? It's suddenly only women (who are also a tad older) that are racist cretins? I think not. But you know - we're women. So even systemic racism in the U.S. can be pinpointed on one singular group of people: Soccer Moms™. People with vaginas. Persons with ovaries. Humans with menopause. Name it.

My question is: where the hell is mister "I have as big of a spine as I have a neckline" Mitch McConnell, for example? How come THIS absolute nincompoop, buttonhead, nitwit of a man gets a free pass in all of this? (Hint: it's between his legs. Even writing that made me shiver a bit, in all honesty. Ugh. I thought of his nether areas for a millisecond and nearly barfed.)

Oh wait, I know. It's because "women raised their sons to be Brett Kavanaughs and Brock Turners. Hurr durr." Well if that is the case, I BEG the question: where the hell was the father then? And if the father was not able to be there, what was the reason? Perhaps inequality when it comes to parental leave? Hm? Expensive, inaccessible daycares? Or maybe - just maybe - the entire invention of the almighty internet created imbeciles such as Turner. I digress, I am on a rant mode. Very little coherence here.

(Please note, these "questions" are hypothetical only, because we all know who are to blame for all of these things. WIMIN. I am also probably blamed for not "raising this generation right" even though I do not have any children.)

In all fairness, I do feel irritated at these women as well - however, if you take one quick look at some of the most popular sites for teens/young adult (women), you'll see this kind of sex is now super in. In other words: it is being normalized violently and young people are not really famous for understanding which trends are fun and harmless and which are... well, not.

I am well past my thirties and even I felt a weird tinge of "guilt" (for the lack of a better word) because I did not feel I had any kinks or semi/full-on violent sexual desires. The lovely word "vanilla" is spread around the internet, referring to people (=women) who are not into rough acts in sex, or who simply don't have any kinks. And it's terrible to be vanilla! Nobody wants to be the LAME girl, come on now. So either you admit to yourself and everyone else that you're a lameass timid loser OR you start "liking" these kinds of kinks.

Back in my day (about 20 years ago) the absolute biggest thing was to get rid of your virginity ASAP and it felt like a horrible, terrible thing to still be a virgin e.g. at the ripe old age of 17. I'm sure this phenomenon still exists as well, but now you're supposed to exorcise that nasty evil spirit called "virginity" while being tied into a bed frame and being choked and slapped and spat on. Charming.

Please, let's not hate on these young women who have been brainwashed into thinking this is some kind of new normal (and that past generations have just conveniently noped the fuck out of someone CHOKING you while you're having sex because they were such prudes.) If you start reading about spitting, slapping and choking at a very young age, chances are you WILL start thinking it's normal and even though your mind & body tells you that you do NOT enjoy it, you feel like you have to - otherwise something is wrong with you.

I would point the massive blaming finger at publications that keep spouting this kind of bullshit without ever considering what these kinds of articles do to (especially) young people. And mind you, it is definitely NOT just Men's Health Magazine that does this. "Sex friendly" (=kink loving) articles are churned out en masse by a ton of different sites, some specifically made for women.

Was thinking about this today - how the imagined "niceness and softness and non-confrontational attitudes of women" (something that very neatly serves the patriarchy, funny that...) is being used against women themselves in this new, very-non-woman pseudofeminism. We know we are empathetic and loving and nurturing - so why would we deny anyone who has gone through the plights a safe space! Even if it means that a literal MAN can take over the word WOMAN because they just one day chose to. Stunning and brave indeed. Sigh.

It's quite astounding, really - how many women, and especially the so-called smart women (well educated) have fallen to this absolutely mad quicksand of blurred words and woke-sounding ideologies. I thought they taught people to THINK in universities but it seems they are now just brainwashing them. Not that I would know, I am a mere plebeian and know nothing. Heh.

I just recently read an article from my home country that spoke about "pussy shame" and I was utterly horrified. It was about women who felt terrible about their outer genitals (labia) and some of them had gone to do some ~corrective surgeries~. I had no idea this had become such a big thing. For it to reach a teensy weensy (albeit super Western and in some cases, disgustingly Americanized) country means it actually is a thing. It's spreading allover. Much like that TERRIBLE sandwich!11!! * add some good Christian outrage here *

We're reaching new levels of low. And I also know where I shall be pointing my finger at. It's not just the usual suspects - the right wing religious bigots and conservative misogynists. Instead, I would like to give a STANDING OVATION TO ALL THE LIBFEMS who went to universities and came from steady backgrounds and ate up this post-modernist bullshit hook, line and sinker: and then started spreading the Kool-Aid around the entire world, like it was their own special Jonestown. Thank you for your efforts, Rebecca Solnit et al. Really, wow, you just took the cake and threw it in the dumpster and then shat on it, and now you want US to eat that shit? I think not.

Any and every action committed by a woman is feminism by libsters. That's it. Easy-peasy, no-brain-eezy. So the original poster of that ham sandwich is DEFO a feminist and performs a feminist act by libfem standards (of nothing...) right?! And if she doesn't, then why is that bollocks unacceptable and woman-hating, but the WAP video is crazy cool? And oooh don't we just adore our Kardashians, Cardi B's, Nicky Minaj's and whofucking-evers allover Instagram that literally make themselves look like live-action sex dolls - and libfems just see this and think YAS KWEEN it's so liberating like OMG gonna make a TikTok about my nails now.

Fucking hell.

And then we have a massive group of fetishist dudes who put on make up, ending up looking like my dog shat some crayons on their faces, and TOODILY FUCKING DOO they are WIMIN now. What is this place we live in?!

I'm so done. Doneso. Donesies. Let's take over NASA and go have a splendid life on Mars. Or just drift into space endlessly, don't care. I am so very done with the human species.

If they weren't catering to male attention and the song was simply about their ability to lubricate, the trans and libfems would definitely be screaming transphobic. But it's a male centered song in reality so it gets a pass.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at, just trying to showcase the neverending loopholes liberal feminists have in their so called ideology. The women in the video pornify and objectify themselves to represent the exact idea a lot of TiM's seem to have about women, so suddenly they are dead quiet about the terrible transphobia. It's almost funny at this stage. I would like to discuss this in depth with a proper liberal feminist and see how they try to squirm their way out of this one.

Then again I don't want to send anyone to the hospital, as the mental gymnastics they'd be required to do would inevitably cause them to have a stroke, so better not bring it up I guess.

Having lived a decade in a macho country where I very much stand out due to my looks, may I just say - BS. First of all, I have never met a woman who is so timid of men/going out alone etc. that they basically lock themselves inside their houses and spend their lives hysterically peeking out of their windows. (I know that is not exactly what you said but it seemed pretty implicit, tbh.)

I, as most women I assume, am wary of certain situations and for a good goddamn reason. I've been groped, followed, charged at; guys have exposed themselves to me; one even straight up started jacking off right in front of me (at least I was with 1 other woman at the time, don't know what would have happened if I had been completely alone...). I've been shouted at super aggressively when I have denied advances, or even when I've done nothing more than kept my mouth shut when a guy catcalled me. One dude got so mad that I flipped him that he started to follow me inside my apartment building. All of these instances were really scary and I thank my lucky stars I was never alone and/or managed to escape on time. (Actually I have so many stories of guys being absolute fucking pervy creeps towards me that I could write a book about them.) And THESE experiences are the reason why I am careful - not some "social conditioning" of girls and women since childhood.

Every day I go outside I am extremely aware that I'll meet at least one dude who will say something very indecent and/or pervy to me. I have tried yelling back at them but that seems to get them really angry - and I'm not dumb, if a man is aggressive they will take me down easily. Why would I risk my life? Of course I won't. I would LOVE to kick all these nasty morons in the balls but I understand there may be repercussions for such actions... Like, a guy punching me full-force in the face, molesting me etc.

I fought hard to get over my fear of ANY man in the streets because of the myriad of shit that MEN have said and done to me. It has taken a shit ton of guts to "regain my space" and e.g. not change the side of the road when I see a guy walking towards me. But there is nothing irrational about me still feeling kind of stressed out when this happens, because (at least in the country I live) pretty much 50% of the times I do have to listen to some "lovely" comments about my looks, ass, tits, what men would like to do with me etc. etc.

I'd wager that when women are wary and conscious of their surroundings it is because they have ALL experienced some shit and generally wish to NOT experience shit anymore. It's all fine and dandy to excuse very valid fears as "social conditioning" but you are literally willfully forgetting the fact that reality is pretty misogynist, and real world can be very dangerous to women. And we know that because WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE.

Your text came across like so many whiny comments from other men who also think my sometimes fearful reactions are just silly and hysterical, when they have absolutely zero understanding about how it feels like to be catcalled and wolf-whistled and groped and leered at EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I walk out of the safety of my own home and ta-dah! I am suddenly a public piece of meat for everyone.

Gladly men with such comments at least have the decency to STFU after I give them a little glimpse of my daily life. Rant over.

I will become less wary of men the moment men become less aggressive. Until that (unrealistic) day, I will take precautions without feeling silly or ashamed or "conditioned" - because my personal safety is pretty damn important to me.

YES! I have been waiting for one of my old-timey heroes to step up. While I don't agree with everything she says (who would agree 100% with ANYONE, anyway?) she has been a big inspiration and I am so glad she has spoken out.

Oh yeah, better not fuck with the rusalki... I didn't know that (possible) ghost aspect though. Cool detail. It was the Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden, great read! And a female protagonist as well, yay! And thanks for the tip, will check out Deathless next :)

This is completely off-topic (sorry!) but may I query after your username? I recently read a book that was based on Russian/Eastern European folklore and loved it, so I'm curious :)

UN Women: "It is our role as feminists to always be there, and to make sure that people know that we accept them for who they are" - check out the comments for a feel-good moment! by vitunrotta in GenderCritical

For those who cannot see the link for whatever reason, here are a few comments (which have thus far garnered hundreds, in some cases more than a thousand likes each - names of the commentators have been erased, I hope this goes with the rules of the GC platform):

"Woman or girl is NOT an identity. It’s a biological fact. And it is one that renders us vulnerable, from birth, to male assumption of ownership over our bodies and us. And it isn’t our job to cater to and mother everyone. WTF. You have lost your signal. You are lost, and you’re messing up another generation of young people. Good job. Really."

"Feminist role is to protect and promote womens equality not to make everyone else comfortable that's called misogyny when women are expected to put themselves last"

"A reminder of the definition of Feminism. Un-women needs to stop supporting the dangerous gender Ideology and remember woman = Adult Human Female"

"It is our role as feminists to act as mommies and hostesses and make everyone feel safe and included." See how sexist that is? Wrong, UN Women. Our role as feminists is to fight for the liberation of female human beings."

"'Women's work', eh? To be indoctrinated and emotionally blackmailed into putting themselves last to ensure everyone else's happiness and comfort since time began... Please focus on helping people to learn how to take responsibility for their own emotional needs. Women are busy."

How do you all deal with being asked for your pronouns in every space? by DangerJelly in GenderCritical

To clarify: call yourself a female/woman. Unfortunately you may receive some backlash for this but don’t shy away.

No battle was ever won easily. Keep your head and mind and be assertive. Is it fair? No. Do it anyway. For your own good, and the good of others as well.

Oh lord. Not this fringethink of feminism, just please no. It's the stigma of exactly these types of (IMHO quite idiotic) simplifications that are still today used to invalidate feminists: they're all just man-hating crazies and have nothing constructive to offer.

That is not true and I personally wholly reject the message. I have brothers, male friends, nephews... And a boyfriend of 7 years. I am not OK with this type of commentary. Someone already stated she suffered abuse from her husband so she probably has a reason to come to these types of "conclusions." Yet - to me it sounds like she should go to therapy, deal with the terrible things she endured, and hopefully come out on the other side without the need to make hateful commentary about the entire male sex. And I say this as a woman who has also gone through a lot in the hands of men - both verbal and physical abuse. I still don't see them as some Global DudeBro Movement that only exists because they bathe in the blood of women every other Saturday.

May I ask: what would you think if the words were reversed, and this was a MAN speaking of WOMEN?

I really, REALLY want someone to make the proper and obvious comparison to race here. I am so white I'm pretty much transparent (ha, got to use the word trans!) so I do not feel like I should be doing it.

...But come on? If this was happening while someone appropriated (...appropriation is one of the words libfems use lovingly and very sparingly...) another race? All hell would break loose. I want to see it, though. Someone doing a proper blackface, doing all the "black" things, dressing as "blacks," trying to erase the fact that they were (still are) vastly discriminated throughout centuries. Someone trying to push for laws that akshuli say NO, your kind never existed and I am free to Dolezal myself anytime! He he he!

Where would the darling, little simpleton libfems stand then? Hm? Would they still be blind to the massive stick in their own eye? (Knowing them, I'm sure they have a lovely loophole explanation that goes in circles so much so that even they believe themselves.)
