I've always asked the same questions to TRAs and never got an answer. This is why I'm prone to think the whole ideology is a cult. No facts, no questions, accept the dogma or get shunned.

Yeah. The only answer is TWAW and blocked. It all comes down to them wanting to separate biological sex from gender just enough that it suits their agenda, and conflate them when it doesn’t.

Can't question anything? Cannot dissent (without swift repercussions and cancellation)? Are required to repeat nonsensical mantras, without ever replying to any sensible questions about them? A lingo that was created to erase the Others and to elevate the Chosen Ones?

It IS a cult. Nothing more, nothing less. And it's sweeping across the whole planet soon. (Don't want to sound like some doomsday angel but hey, it is what it is.)

It's a cult but without a leader.

Honestly, sort of makes me think we should bring Scientology back. There's a lot of sheep out there needing a shepherd and if you don't give them something ridiculous to believe in they'll start making up their own.

Well, Scientology sadly never went anywhere! But yeah, maybe there they'd get their fix for a cult-like atmosphere - and do less actual harm. The other option right now seems to be bloody QAnon which... let's just say, isn't a better cult exactly.

You know, with the decline of religions, I wonder if there are any healthy secular groups for people to join?

[–]jelliknight 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

There was a really interesting one called the Sunday Assembly, which was intended to fill the social role of a church. You all get together, sing some ballads, listen to a talk on how we can be better people, then do some volunteer work. A good idea but it didn't really take off. Without hellfire to motivate people enthusiasm wanes. But if you're looking for yourself personally, gardening groups and repair cafes are great places. Very secular, very supportive, mix of ages and political affiliations so no one feels that they get to take it over for their particular cause, plus sometimes you get tomatoes.

How can you even accept the dogma when it changes every few years? First, they’re not the second they identify as, but the gender, so the term “transsexual” becomes offensive. Then, there is no need for gender reassignment because females come in different bodies, but gender reassignment needs to be covered by insurance to validate trans people. Oh but also now the argument is that transgender people are literally the opposite sex because intersex people exist? And you can tell this via changes in brains and if you argue that men and women don’t have different brains now you’re the sexist? None of it makes sense.

There's a cult expert, Steven Hassan, who actually came out with his concerns that the craze to transition minors has cultish aspects:

https://twitter.com/CultExpert/status/1279890721655455750

I'll post this on its own thread too because Hassan appears to be well-respected, so his questioning of transgender activist ideology is noteworthy.

It is not first time I am seeing gender ideology is called "cult-like": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcqqGJrCpFY

You're seeing it more and more, and critical race theory too.

Yes the struggle is real

I see it as similar to religious people saying "I just don't follow that part of the holy book." The whole stupid thing relies on the premise that anyone who accepts TWAW/TMAM is "valid" so of course, it ends up incoherent

You know those illusions like where the elephant has 5 legs? Trans ideology is like that. If you look at any small bit, it's fine. If someone says "I need hormonal treatment because dysphoria is a medical condition", ok, that makes a sort of sense. If they say "you shouldn't try to change people opinions about being transgender, it's who we are, like being gay." that also makes sense. If you try to look at them both at the same time it becomes obvious that the whole thing is wrong.

I think you'll like this - https://www.reddit.com/r/truscum/comments/eoxuxd/my_new_doctor_is_an_extremely_outoftouch_sjw_who/

Body here (Note did she ask her doctor what her gender was or did she just assume?)

TITLE: My new doctor is an extremely out-of-touch SJW, who thinks dysphoria can be "CURED", & doesn't believe in BIO SEX. Vent Oh man. If what I just experienced doesn't demonstrate just how harmful the tucute ideology is (in influencing the medical care of ACTUAL trans people) I don't know what will... (also TW for ftms, I guess...)

First off, I'm not the first 'trans' person this doctor has ever met, though from what she said, it seems as if I'm the only actual trans person she's ever talked to. When I explained my physical chest dysphoria (which isn't even that severe, btw) she simply asked me WHY I was dysphoric about my FEMALE chest, and when I told her I was dysphoric about my breasts because they're inherently FEMALE, she basically said this:

"You shouldn't be dysphoric about your breasts because breasts are neither male or female, breasts can be male and because you identify as male that automatically means that YOUR TITS ARE MALE UWU. Therefore, you're just pathetic and transphobic for wanting to adhere to society's expectations of strictly male-or-female. BIOLOGICAL SEX MEANS NOTHING, if you identify as male I see you as male because you are, simple."

She asked if I had a binder. I said yes, 4, but I only wear them when I need to, i.e when my breasts would otherwise be visible (my chest is SMALL AF)

She told me that I SHOULDN'T even get top surgery because I should learn to accept my breasts because they're small anyways, and that loads of men have enlarged chests... and that she's met loads of trans men who were, and I quote, "PROUD" of their FEMALE bodies and FEMALE tits.

YOU GUYS... I'M NOT MAKING THIS SH*T UP, I CAN'T 😭😭😭

rejecting top surgery is understandable for some trans men, i get it. but being "PROUD"?!?!?!? MATE...

Then SHE ASKED TO SEE MY BREASTS. FOR NO REASON AT ALL. WHY??? Why do you need to see my breasts? wtf?

I told her that I'm dysphoric because I'm not a cisgender man. She said this:

"I hate the word Cisgender. I mean, I don't introduce myself like "hey, I'm rachel and I'm a cisgender woman", because it means nothing and nobody cares. I'm a woman, and so are trans women* (I agree ofc), there's NO difference (*UMM WHAT LMFAO) and nobody will judge you for being trans, no-one will know, SO WHY ARE YOU DYSPHORIC IF PEOPLE LOOK AT YOU AND THINK YOU'RE CIS? I THOUGHT YOU WERE CIS, MYSELF!"

UM. Because, Karen, I may look like a cis man but, biologically, I AM NOT. I have FEMALE genitalia and a FEMALE body, you can't see it BUT I CAN, HENCE= PHYSICAL DYSPHORIA. I don't experience significant SOCIAL dysphoria anymore because I'm gendered correctly in public, but that doesn't change my sex.

Then she asked about my gentitals.

I told her I'm considering meta when I'm older, because i'm SUICIDAL over my female genitals. I've almost successfully killed myself in the past due to my genitals, for hecks sake. SHE KNOW THIS. I told her that I'm trying to save up for a REALISTIC FTM PROSTHETIC, not just a packer, but a PROSTHETIC so I don't look down and feel like a fraud and dysphoric mess over the sight of socks in my jocks.

She said "Don't get a prosthetic, YOU DON'T NEED A PENIS, get one of those LESBIAN WOMEN STRAP-ONS THAT LESBIANS USE TO FUCK OTHER WOMEN IN THE VAG/ANUS FROM SEXYLAND AND WEAR THAT IN YOUR PANTS, BECAUSE THAT'S TOTALLY COMPARABLE AND IT'S THE SAME THING, YOU DON'T NEED A REAL DICK, OR SURGERY, USE A FEMALE STRAP ON"

Yes, Karen. Because bright pink glittery rainbow dildo strap-ons with glow-in-the-dark leather kink harnesses are TOTALLY comparable to actual real male human genitalia and it won't make me, a 16-yr-old (who should NOT be wearing a fcking strap-on) feel even more suicidal or anything, right? RRRRRRIIIIGHT??? Uwuuu.

Would you tell a 40-something cisgender male war vet who lost his penis in an accident to wear a PINK GLITTERY LESBIAN GIRL STRAP-ON instead of getting an ACTUAL PROSTHETIC? NO. That would make him feel HUMILIATED & SHAMED, which is exactly how I felt. I was crying from the humiliation, you guys, it was horrid. I'm not a lesbian and I've never even identified as such.

Would you tell someone born without an arm to just use one of those blow-up skeleton arms from those Halloween stores as if it's an adequate substitute for an actual prosthetic arm? I HOPE NOT.

Oh.

But then she asked me why I was wearing GREY nail polish and SHAMED me for it... I PASS, Karen! I would personally never wear it if I didn't pass, but I do, so I personally feel COMFORTABLE with it. She was YELLING at me about my nail polish because apparently "only girls wear nail polish", yet she said that Biological sex is apparently BS and that men can have tits and vaginas. UM OK. Having my tits on display is masc but grey nail polish isn't? right.

She kept on asking me "Why do you want to transition?"

me- "because I'm not a woman and I'd kill myself"

"But you told me that you'll ALWAYS be dysphoric because you aren't a cis man so why bother transitioning"

me- "Because I'd be LESS dysphoric, I'd be able to function, I'd at least look in the mirror and see my own reflection, it'd improve my quality of life"

"But if you'll never be cis WhY TranSiTiON"

I WOULD KILL MYSELF, KAREN. IF MEDICAL TRANSITIONING WAS ILLEGAL I'D BE DEAD BY NOW, I'D HAVE NO HOPE FOR THE FUTURE, ETC.

"You need to learn to accept and LOVE your female body, I've met a trans man once who LOVED his vagina and LOVED using it!!! YOU CAN OVERCOME DYSPHORIA!!!"

VAGINAS ARE FEMALE, KAREN, YOU'RE A DOCTOR, YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT. NOT MALE.

"But BIO SEX ISN'T REAL, VAGINAS CAN BE MALE IF THE OWNER OF SAID VAGINA IDENTIFIES AS MALE UWU, CISGENDER IS BS, YOU MIGHT BE GENDERFLUID XE/XIM SO I WOULDN'T MEDICALLY TRANSITION JUST IN CASE, YOU MIGHT NOT BE A BINARY TRANS PERSON!!!"

ohhhhh boy.

yeah needless to say I left crying, a humiliated wreck. the hell.

never seeing her again

I can not stop laughing, this is too good. What a woke doctor.

But fuck do I feel bad for this kid. She's sixteen, and the fucking trans advocates have indoctrinated her to believe her only options are cutting of her breasts or suicide! It's so obvious that the constant mentions of killing herself are born from trans organizations promoting the idea that trans children are at high risk of suicide unless they get to transition.
No. Neither one of those are a healthy option for a child.

Yeah tragedy aside it's clear she can't think outside of the binary and associates gender roles with sex in a problematic manner - I'm guessing were she born 15 years earlier she'd be a dope-ass butch dyke.

What are your opinions on Critical Race Theory and Critical Legal Theory?

[–]SameOldBS 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Racist cult.

I see this realization more and more in GC circles, driven by Critical Gender Theory. A good thing, prioritizing critical thinking over "critique thinking"

[–]materialrealityplz 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

For me, and I think for a lot of us, it comes from watching people who analyze the woke left culture (like Bret Weinstein, Helen Pluckrose, etc) - and we got there from being critical of the trans movement.
