I've seen a lot of that stuff online too. Lots of characters with top-surgery scars, not just on deviantart, but twitter and furaffinity (furry-themed art site) too. Hasn't happened yet, but it depends on how deep my friends are into the TRA cult. If they were quick to 'cancel' me and all that, I'd be wary about being friends with them again. But for friends who are at least open to discussion, even when disagreeing, I wouldn't drop them.

Feeling guilt by Skipdip in GenderCritical

[–]threefingersam 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I used to think of myself as open-minded. Then I realized I was being empty headed and gullible. I used to accept trans ideology without even considering the implications or consequences for women's rights. It isn't evil to question movements that have appeared so quickly and suspiciously. It also isn't hateful to state facts, although I know today's political climate is pretty shitty for telling the truth. Not to mention that "hateful" these days basically means "something I disgree with" in woke circles.

"Transphobe" is just a convenient word to shut down discussion and marks a person as a target for "cancelling" - social punishment, legal punishment and so on. If Trans people were so oppressed, why can destroy ordinary people's livelihoods so easily? Why do we have to bow down to them like they're royalty?

[–]threefingersam 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My friends haven't turned trans but they're still supportive of trans ideology. I jumped off the trans support train thanks to TRA loons on twitter and finding r/gendercritical. Then learning about how the gender cult was polluting real life - trans preying on children and destroying women's rights. I found out what was happening overseas, and what was happening close to home - like men in women's sports, men in women's prisons, "pregnant people" etc.

There isn't a big difference between me and my friends, except that I decided to dig deeper and read about the implications/consequences of trans ideology. They tend to stick to mainstream media and don't read around much on the internet. Afaik, my friends have only been exposed to pro-trans media.

In short, trans lobbyists used deceptive and underhanded tactics to gain traction: They drafted potential legislation for trans issues beforehand (i.e. before govt could make their own drafts). Trans lobbyists used the LGB as a shield and camouflage against scrutiny. They also ensured that their actions got limited media attention to avoid getting noticed by the general public.

A lot of women have been socialized (aka brainwashed) into being "nice" and putting others before ourselves, even against our self-interest. Some women have resisted/unlearned that conditioning, but it's difficult for others.

I think about how from childhood, female boundaries (emotional and physical) are disrespected and unacknowledged. Weak boundaries means greater vulnerability to manipulation.

When I see people sharing their sexual habits publically, it shows they don't respect others boundaries.

I have realized that not shaming enables people to get away with heinous things. Shame is a actually a more useful social tool than I initially thought

Women who survived coronavirus angry after persistent symptoms dismissed as 'anxiety' by doctors by wicklesnarf in GenderCritical

That really sucks. It is a common experience to women seeking medical help. I've had experience of having my health concerns (not covid-related) dismissed as "anxiety."

[–]threefingersam 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't have the stats but there seem to be various kinds of people who id as trans/non-binary: Some have mental illnesses such as depression/anxiety, some have autism, and others have Narcissistic Personality Disorder or Borderline Personality Disorder. In the case of TiMs/transwomen, there's also autogynephilia (AGP) to consider. AGP in short is a fetish where a man is aroused by the idea of being a woman.

For those trans/non-binary people who don't have mental health issues, I reckon peer pressure and TRA propaganda lured them in.

Talking to friends about GC views by _UngodlyFruit_ in GenderCritical

[–]threefingersam 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It is hard. I'm no expert, but I try to talk to my friends in-person or at least not by text-based methods. This is because I think people can easily misinterpret the tone of written words.

When it comes to topics to start on, I like talking about the most recent controversy about J.K Rowling's tweets. Like about the content of the tweets and the response she received. I ask someone what they think, and gauge their response. When it comes to GC views, I take the approach of women's rights and freedom of speech. Having concrete examples of how both are threatened by TRAs is helpful. Specific examples of TiM criminals allowed access into female prisons, TiMs beating female athletes at sports & so on.

I guess the idea is to inform your friends, ask questions and hopefully they'll ask questions too. At least that's how I'm opening up conversation.

Apparently there's no difference between neo-vaginas and natal women's vaginas and I'm wondering how true this can be by Questionings in GenderCritical

[–]threefingersam 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

No, it's a plastic surgery on a guy's penis. That and I've read of a method where the large intestine is involved: https://www.mtfsurgery.net/mtf-vaginoplasty.htm If people say there's "no difference," that just shows their ignorance of female anatomy.

Also the argument that "lesbians should date transwomen" is homophobic and sounds dangerously akin to homosexual conversion therapy. No matter how much a TiM modifies his body, he is still a man.

Women are pressured to Be Nice by threefingersam in GenderCritical

[–]threefingersam[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Some examples I want to list: -Women are disproportionately punished for voicing a controversial opinion, compared to men. One of the more recent examples of course being JK Rowling's tweets. If a man had said what she said, you can be certain he wouldn't receive the same level of social media outrage.

-Women are told to smile or called out for not smiling, even from strangers.

-Often when women post online, they'll preface an opinion or question with an apology - "Sorry if I'm overstepping" "Correct me if I'm wrong" ... As if having a voice is something to be sorry for!

-Honesty from a woman is often called "meanness"

-I had to learn how to speak up for myself and strengthen my boundaries as an adult, because I worried too much about "hurting others feelings." Unsurprisingly, I was socialized into considering other people's feelings over my own.
