Because it's bloody EASY. And it's also easy to say it's right-wing - by saying that you can just equate radical feminists and gender critical people with nazis and that's that. POOF. Who on earth would discuss with nazis about their opinions?! No-fucking-body. Painting radfems as rightwing is a mad and pathetic move - but it works for many because it's an easy way out. You hear the word TERF and you're ready to CANCEL. Holy hell. How smart we've become... /s In reality it's the libfems who are doing a massive favour for patriarchy, and they do it with a smile on their face.

JKR is a hero because she has all the chances to literally STFU and stay in line with the TRA - but she doesn't. Because, it seems, she has a conscience. And she is a WOMAN and understands what it means to be one - in a biological and sociological sense.

Every other woman in a prominent position seems to be a weakling that is still trying to be the "cool and good girl not like the others" that just cares and cares and cares - until penis is a female organ. Until anyone can be a woman. Until words have lost their meaning. Until misogyny cannot even be described because if everyone is a woman, nobody is a woman and so on... No oppression, no wrongdoings. And these "wOke" morons think they are on the right side of history! Ah, geez. My fucking god, the idiocy.

Zero respect for those women. Sorry not sorry. If you have nothing constructive to say - at least have the decency to stay quiet, FFS. If you are not brave enough to speak out loud, please shut the fuck up. I understand that especially in the U.S. things are getting WEIRD and you may just need to keep your job which means = silence... But all these Hollywood bigots going TWAW are seriously disturbing. My lord, did Sarah Paulson - A LESBIAN - cancel JKR as well?! Well she could, right. Sorry to say but she is rich enough to have a shit opinion.

The heavy lifting will be done by women in lesser positions, as usual. Whether it's race or economics or being a lesbian or nonconforming or a mixture of all, or something else... We will be the women who actually see and feel when this gender-nonsense takes hold and takes over US as people - as WOMEN - so we will also have to be the ones to kick that shit in its ladyballs.

Take a deep breath, sisters, because I have a feeling we may have to plunge deeper into this genderhole until we can crawl out.

right-wing

And yet, TRA actions are far right based, their politics are very radical and their rhetorics are very agressive and do not tolerate anything against it.

far right based and far left radical also because many leftists are as radical as the conservatives. I've been recently disappointed with them because It's free speech until it's something I don't like being said.

Yeah this is something that I think libfems are going to potentially continue to make politics worse if they label anyone with even the slightest different take on these issues as "right-wing" and won't bother to listen.

I mean really ... J.K Rowling as some "hard right-wing" despite donating a ton of her wealth to fairly liberal organizations and is mostly on liberal sides of issues but one slip on this and "NOPE SHE IS HARD RIGHT WING NOW". I feel in this video Lindsey is doing a bunch of leaps in attempts to prove she is still "a solid liberal girl" instead of taking the issue head on and completely ignoring some of the core of J.K Rowling's tweets.

Sarah Paulson? Awww man... :( she was one of my biggest crushes when I watched AHS

Of course, she's a shill for the TRM. The "woke" left is her bread and butter.

Otherwise, she might actually have to work a shitty job like the rest of us for a living.

I couldn't continue after the first few minutes when she labeled Rowling's Twitter posts as extremely transphobic/bigoted/far-right. Is it worth continuing to watch until the end?

I've been a fan of hers since the Nostalgia Chick days, but this is incredibly disappointing of her. She's priveleged and straight. It's easy for her to dismiss "TERF" arguments with "this never happens" or "no one is saying this." Try telling that to all of the lesbians on the autism spectrum that are victims of this movement.

I've unsubscribed from her for now. This really bummed me out for the entire day, and I didn't even finish the video.

She's literally a perfect caricature of the left: recycled hot takes over media that only the woke left pays attention to anyway, promotes absolute morons like Contrapoints, gets credit for being part of some counterculture despite saying exactly what the woke Youtube sphere wants to hear, and gets paid for shitty video essays about nothing of consequence while lamenting "the system" while real people have to work real jobs.

Don't give her clicks. There are literally millions of other people more worth listening to.

She's friends with Contrapoints, and ex-MRA turned TRA. What else did we expect?

I came here after seeing that video pop up in my youtube. I haven't watched it yet since I'm still gutted that she, of all people, would post against Rowling...

[–]Thatstealthygal 20 insightful - 1 fun20 insightful - 0 fun21 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Isn't she a pal of Contrapoints?

[–]DoWhatItTakesTo 21 insightful - 1 fun21 insightful - 0 fun22 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly. She couldn't be peaked right now if she wanted to. She said it herself, she has a book coming out in 2 months. Now is not the time to make any sudden moves.

[–]levoyageur718293 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Contra was a "bridesmaid" at Lindsay's wedding.

[–]Thatstealthygal 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah there is no way she would be publicly GC and privately she'd have to be very moderately so at best.

[–]NerdyFashionGirl 14 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It's just so disappointing, I managed to get through the whole video, at one point she said that "if you disagree, by felicia" then in the next paragraph talks about how bad J.K. Rowling is for cultivating a circle jerk of yes men around her. Like that's the definition of the pot calling the kettle black.

[–]DoWhatItTakesTo 14 insightful - 1 fun14 insightful - 0 fun15 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I watched it. It wasn't bad (to me). Lindsay has to use words like "transphobia" to describe people like Rowling because the definition she has been given for "transphobia" is that broad. I think she's doing the best she can in the ally box the TRAs have built for her. Her comments about death of the author and supporting someone you don't agree with are still reasonable and sound.

She has a book coming out in 2 months so this is somewhat brave, IMO. It would have been easier to stay silent. Maybe. I guess I don't know what she's hearing on her end, lol. Maybe there was pressure.

I think she's still a good person. Being public friends with ContraPoints can't be easy for one's ability to form one's own opinion on this subject. ESPECIALLY when you think "lived experience" is more valuable than mere anecdote.

[–][deleted] 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Ugh, I couldn't bring myself to click. Lindsay's videos are my happy escape. I'll check it out sooner or later and analyze it (still always gotta "listen to the other side"...), but it's too heavy for me for now. It's too heavy in the midst of covid and our GC community's upheaval.

(Glad this platform exists so we can still debrief on stuff like this--thanks gparmesan!)

[–]emissch 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

lots of straw man arguments in the first few minutes while reeking of the classic woke elitism, i couldn't finish it sorry. Rowling's blog post is a well written piece that conveys her stance so well, and these are the reactions it gets. it does seem to me that any dialogue has completely broken down and nobody is listening. edit:words

[–]Camberian 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Smarmy, rapacious, bought. The first few minutes were quite enough, no thank you.

[–]MezozoicGay 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I just can't understand how rational people like her have become entrenched

It is how propaganda works and always was. And it always have something dehumanizing, like "terf". And you can't "have a discussion with an animal, so better just dismiss them instantly" - all dictatorships are like that.

[–]MissDemeanor 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It just shows the depth of the cultural brainwashing. People think there is a nefarious subtext, that when people talk about trans ideology critically they are speaking in dog whistles. I mean the number of people that have told me Jks words are deeply damaging and hurtful to trans people and that they will provoke violence and suicides, is insane.

[–]chickensizzle 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've been a fan of hers for a long time and would be disappointed....but she's been on the TRA side for a long time. Doesn't cost her anything to be in the presumed "woke" side where ALL the male breadtubers are. I take way more offense to those straight men telling us to shut up than another woman.

Haven't watched the vid yet as I'm at work, but dare I guess she didnt even read JKR's essay?

[–]123UrNotMe 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

As a fellow Starscream fan, I'm deeply disappointed. The weirdest thing to me is describing us as right-wing. It takes literally ten minutes of reading to realize most of us are lefties. Also, two, why would it matter if some of are republicans? Intersectional Feminism is a movement to improve the lives of all women, regardless of any other factors pertaining to their identities.

[–]nerio 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I can't watch her anymore.Ever since I peaked I have had the weird feeling that she would think like this. Most celebrities and social media individuals are pro trans. So I'm not shocked plus she's friends with contrapoints.

[–]Killer_Danish 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to it, but check out the latest section of a thread they made about her on Kiwifarms. Nobody is having any of it! (Google: Lindsay Ellis Kiwifarms).

Yeah, Kiwifarms is full of edgelords, but they aren't buying any trans-crap.

[–]seminolehighlander 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I unsubbed and was disappointed to not even have any provocative or good points or analysis or...anything. I actually have respected her content in the past and was even ready to think about things from a different angle, even. I almost thought she might even defend JK's right to speak her mind and decry such backlash. Silly me--no idea she was friends with Contra. Someone else in my life who I am open with about my views, watched and independently came to the same conclusion. Just a kneejerk reaction to get woke points. I actually enjoyed Blair White's video about JK Rowling.

[–]wrongthink 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

She was the "I'm literally shaking right now" meme through the whole vid.
