That was my observation. There's nothing in this article to indicate that the child wasn't affirmed every step of the way. She's trying to claim he wasn't transed early enough, and I don't know whose fault that would be.

She should know that suicide rarely has a singular cause. The claim that preferred pronouns and names reduce suicide by 70% strikes me as unbelievable because where was the epidemic of child suicides before we were transing kids?

She's a physician herself, possibly professionally involved in pediatric transitions and seems to desperately need her belief system to be validated. Acknowledging that perhaps hormones and surgeries aren't a solution and that maybe she failed her daughter by setting her on that path must be unthinkable.

Andrew Sullivan published a great substack article today in which he identified the problem as a breach of the social contract. Gays won rights through public discussion and debate. They were asking for equality, with the understanding that people were free to hold personal beliefs about homosexuality, marriage equality etc without being persecuted themselves.

That social contract has been broken in an increasingly authoritarian quasi-religious 'no debate' mindset wherein anyone who holds dissenting beliefs is branded a 'hater'.

I've been interested for a while in hearing the perspectives of kids of trans parents. I mean we hear from parents, and sometimes ex spouses, but rarely other family members.

Sounds like this guy doesn't have any custody and has rarely seen his son even prior to transition. He calls himself a 'girl' even though he's likely in his 40s or older.
