Person who has a mental disorder that makes them feel disassociated from their body isn't self-aware enough to realize the way they experience themselves is disordered and different from the way the rest of us normal people do and gets pissed off from seeing us living our normal, healthy lives with each other.

Yes, the people who have the mental illness of being disassociated from their bodies are going to tell the rest of us it's wrong to feel connected to our bodies.

Ugh! What makes sex and race and sexual orientation important categories to protect against discrimination is that people didn't choose and can't change their sex or race. Women can't just "take off" being a woman and "solve" sexism. Having lived sex or race from birth and being unable to separate from those things are what makes those things those things! It's impossible to understand those things and those perspectives if you aren't those things--growing up as a woman is fundamental to being a woman and shapes who they are as people for example. Anything else is mimicry at best.

My parents were in college in the 70s and the way they talked about stuff when I was growing up, sociology was on par with underwater basketweaving.

I took a sociology class as my ethnic studies requirement and it was pretty interesting. It was about different groups in poverty around the world--favelas, homeless in NYC, bush people in Africa, Pacific Islanders, and Appalachia. The dept was aware it was the class for outsiders. The professor basically said that sociology doesn't have a direction or know what to do. Old fashioned sociology is like Victorians doing National Geographic type trips to gawk at non-Europeans and modern sociology is stuck in the "I can't judge anyone" thing and the professor was older when I took that a decade ago so she was probably from the 60s or 70s mindset which is a different generation to now as well.

"Reducing someone to their genitals"

For normal people our bodies are a big part of who we are. Just because trans people have or feel disassociated from their bodies doesn't mean all the rest of us need to as well.

It also doesn't mean the "enlightened" way of living is to disassociate yourself from your and other people's bodies. This reminds me of how it seemed like in the early 10s being poly was a big thing all of a sudden and the poly people went around all self-righteous acting like they have become enlightened while all the rest of us are just simple cave-people constraining ourselves to just one person.

Watching that person talk reminded me of the start of the courtroom scene at the end of the Chernobyl series where the prosecutor-type person makes a long doctrinal recitation that doesn't mean anything or is relevant to anyone who isn't one of the handful of people deep into that specific thing. It's basically finely-worded grammatically correct nonsense to appease someone far away.

Looking at that sub, lol. My first thought as a 34 year old gay in a small city in the Midwest was "so that's how people in NYC are dressing nowadays, yikes!" Men wearing pieces from thrift store ladies sections, so hot right now!

What's happened is probably the thing that often happens with clubs. The members go deeper and deeper into the club's thing and also try to outdo each other and end up iterating themselves into a very niche space. In this case they're doing esoteric things yet it's called 'male fashion' rather than 'avant-garde outfits' or something like that.

Modern art looks like nonsense because it's made by artists who went to art school for other artists who went to art school and they're all trying to 1-up each other. It's all super-inside jokes and references. Us regular folks go to art galleries because we just want to see beautiful things on the other hand. The gender ideology people are modern-arting themselves into this bonkers stuff that doesn't connect to reality either.

Coronavirus shows government is a problem, not the solution by purselady in whatever

This article is kind of stupid.

It starts off complaining about the FDA and corona tests that were less than 100% accurate.

Prior to government regulation and the FDA, the field of medicine for regular folks was largely snake oil non-cures given out by quacks. That's the free market. Who doesn't want more of that?

Also the concept of the "free market" requires a government to define and enforce the parameters of the market. Without the government we're back to the law of the jungle.

It's similar to the way fat acceptance people talk about stuff, like the mental person is completely separate from the physical body and the physical body doesn't matter at all. In reality the mind and body are inseparable and one thing.
