The one thing I have notice is that a lot of woke trans allies are mixed on this issue. I have read comments saying that they support transwomen (they never mention transmen) but they don't think they should play with "cis" women and show concern for women getting hurt. However when then TRA shame them and call them "terfs" or "terfy" they quickly apologize, but it does show they not every has drunk the koolaid and even if they have been shamed to comply online I doubt they have changed their opinions offline. And, can you image if this really happen, it would be the southpark episode come to life.

I think we can safely assume that this is about transwomen playing rugby with women and not about transmen playing rugby with men.

[–]turtleduck23 25 insightful - 2 fun25 insightful - 1 fun26 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Oh I know. I was referring to how trans allies only seem to support transwomen but never advocate or show support for transmen. Whenever I read comments about trans "issues" its always "TWAW" they never seem to comment support or demand that transmen play against men in rugby or football (for the US).

Nothing says "civil rights" like a 200lb. guy stomping a 120lb. woman into the ground.

Honestly sports show to me how quickly the TRA spread their narrative.

I think the most common viewpoint of the LGBT community a few years ago was "trans people don't need to be in sports with cis people, you just need to respect them and their gender". Even trans people said that.

Nowadays this view would probably be banned from many communities.

Frankly at this point they might as well just make all sports mixed gender. If they say biological differences aren't an issue, then why even separate men and women?

This will happen if a trans person wishes on a monkeys paw. They get to play, but theres no validation uwu

Sorry, I don't stand with trans or non-binary people at all. Sports should be segregated based on biological sex.

Well, actually I'm not sorry. It's embarrassing that a so-called gay organisation is defending this madness. It makes us look bad.

What about gender fluid people? If their gender changes in the middle of a match do they have to get subbed out for another team-mate?

If you care about women's sports, there's a US organization called Save Women's Sports.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that it was Save Women's Sports that got a bunch of female athletes, including Martina, to sign a letter to the NCAA (US university sports regulatory body) asking that women's sports be kept for women.

Former rugby player here. Fuck every single one of these “activists” who haven’t even set foot on a pitch. They have no idea how dangerous the sport is on its own, let alone with men playing against women. Seriously, it’s a recipe to permanently paralyze or kill someone.

    [–]BEB 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Oh, they have an idea how dangerous it is, they just don't care.

The Powers That Be now let men play in all sorts of women's contact sports - roller derby, MMA, handball.

SaveWomensSports.com has a lot of information on transgender born men competing in women's sports. If you have any sense of fair play, the stories on there will outrage you.

How does rugby make you feel as a transgender or non-binary person?

Idk about the rest of you guys but slapping "gay" on a hobby and making a special gay version for it makes me 100% likely to avoid it. If I want to play a sport I'll play the NORMAL FUCKING SPORT, there's no way in hell I'll want to be a part of a special gay version which is probably just a bunch of fetishization/glorification and virtue signalling. When I play a sport or engage in a hobby I don't want to be condescendingly patted on the back for being SO STUNNING AND BRAVE because I do said hobby while gay. I only want to be appreciated if I'm actually good at what I do.

Plus I'm not "out", have no desire to be, and my sexuality isn't anyone else's business anyway.

Is that not an analogue to how the trans people feel though?

    [–]BEB 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And then the question goes back to why should one group's feelings (transgenders) be allowed to destroy another group's material reality (everyone else, but especially women?)

Transgenders can compete in sports. Just not the sport of the sex they feel in their head, because sports are played by bodies, not feelings.

Their rights end where other groups rights begin.

"Sport should come from a place of inclusion"

Even I'm no sports buff, but should that be 'sports' or 'sporting organizations' or 'sports organizations'?

      [–]BEB 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

This type of statement is so irritating because transgenders can play sports - no one is stopping them as long as they play by the same rules as everyone else.

One of these rules is that sports is segregated by biological sex because men receive more testosterone than woman from the womb on, and then puberty gives men more, distinct advantages.

      [–]Three_oneFourWanted for thought crimes in countless ideologies 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

And aren't there some parts of the sexual dimorphism that gives females advantage in other areas of sports? I would assume they're more nimble, and can more easily be a lot more agile than most men on average? No sex is better overall, but there are distinct areas where each does have the advantage

      [–]SheepleArePeople2 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

iirc at the top of the ladder men are straight up physically superior to women in literally every aspect. The only sport Ive seen where the top woman is virtually equal to the top man is archery.

But yeah, the average woman is much more flexible than the average man.

I think sport is how they say it in the UK. Like how they say maths instead of math.

Right to play? There is no right to play. If there is, I should sue the NBA and NFL for not giving me a spot on a team. After all, it's my #RightToPlay !!!!111!!1!
