I noticed that the people in the photo looks like a media representation of what men are supposed to look like. Most men I know don't look like that.

Let's see:

Isn't it funny how MtFs aren't expected to undergo any medical transition at all, and we're not allowed to 'police' their trans identities by expecting them to actually.... look like women. The question is why you would say they’d turn heads in a gay bar as opposed to a straight bar. The fact that the overwhelming majority of transmen are. gay and the overwhelming majority of transwomen are lesbian needs some deep scientific explanation.

It looks like the studio had managed to round up every successful FTM in the country for that photograph. The vast majority of men don’t look like that.

Then again, steroids can make you look like this. But steroids will wear off, after which point your looks will change drastically and your muscles will deteriorate. Stay away from steroids.

I would have to agree. Some of them do read as male from this one picture, and admitting that doesn't really prove anything except with that money, surgery, dedication to hormones and the right genes, even as a woman, you can read as male. But regardless of that, they are still women, putting on a morbid costume. They lack male biology and especially male genitalia. And even beyond that, their '' male '' experience as women who might read as men isn't at all the same as the experience of maleness that actual males have gone through their whole lives: from gender stereotypes and gender roles to male socialization, other cultural and individual factors that affect how men experience their sex and maleness, and puberty and growing up as men. Add to this male homosexuality, and you have so much that no straight women pretending to be a gay man can fully comprehend, understand or emulate, albeit they might try. All of this is part of the attraction to the same sex (to me), to fully recognize someone of the same sex and to be able to understand and even relate to their experience as a person of the same sex that they are. Male biology and the experience (no matter how individualistic the experience might be) growing up as a biological male are both important.

I have to give props to the studio, because it most of taken them months of searching an entire country to look for 20 FTMs who look like male supermodels. I bet half of them are not from the country in which this photograph was taken and were just visiting. I wonder though, how many of these "men" took steroids? Steroids can make an average looking man look like a supermodel for a few years.

It is easy to make a group of average looking people (a fives or sixes) look like tens on a photograph if you have a professional photographer, high end camera, high end studio lighting, high end photo-editing software and can arrange the models in a way to make them appear taller than they are. People often forget that Tom Cruise is 5'7" after all. Maybe three or four of the models in this photograph are biological men, because some of them do look convincing.

Gay men do care a lot about how our partners look and how much muscle our partners have, but the penis is still an essential feature. We don’t think about it that much because it’s obvious that we need it to be there.

You're right, I blanked that steroids are mostly just testosterone. I don't know much about them, but I think there are some that aren't just testosterone.

But you're right, CSHT (cross-sex hormone treatment, I prefer this term because HRT is for women after menopause) leads to vaginal and uterine atrophy and so much cancer. Russia kills a lot of female athletes by giving them testosterone.

The whole "reducing people to their genitals" argument is so stupid.

For most people, sex is a very important part of a relationship, and genitals are pretty damn important for sex.

But aside from that obvious point, where does that argument logically end?

Intelligence is an important trait in a partner to me. Am I reducing a person to their brain?

I'm balding and I have no control over that. Life gave me that little present. Ive had a few guys say they aren't interested because of that. Are they reducing me to my hairline?

I want a partner who is stable and can hold a job long term. Am I reducing people to their work ethic?

The answer to all of those is obviously no. Like genitals, each of those things are requirements for a partner. Saying I'll only date males with natural dicks isn't reducing them to their genitals. It is highlighting one very important requirement.

Saying gay men or lesbians are reducing people to their genitals for not want to date a trans person is basically a low key way of saying that that is the only thing we care about, and it used to be considered homophobic to assume lgb people are only interested in sex...

For normal people our bodies are a big part of who we are. Just because trans people have or feel disassociated from their bodies doesn't mean all the rest of us need to as well.

It also doesn't mean the "enlightened" way of living is to disassociate yourself from your and other people's bodies. This reminds me of how it seemed like in the early 10s being poly was a big thing all of a sudden and the poly people went around all self-righteous acting like they have become enlightened while all the rest of us are just simple cave-people constraining ourselves to just one person.
