I mean if you work shuffling papers or telling lies (sales) and you pay taxes on that, are you really adding value to the US economy? Pretty much the entire US economy is based on printing money and importing things from countries silly enough to trade things for dollars. How much Americans "work" and pay taxes makes little difference.

I think we all know there hasn't been a 19-point swing in the last month. Americans' opinions about these two men are pretty much completely defined at this point and will barely change. The polls swung 19 percent - while it would be rather surprising if the actual election even swung 1.9 percent. 0.19 percent seems more plausible.

I think this is just more evidence that this is an unpollable race. The average American has become unreachable; they simply don't pick up phone calls from unknown numbers. And when you do reach them, too many people are just grumbling unhappily and saying "I don't like either candidate."

Comparing bears in the woods with ALL MURDERS in North America is a little like comparing, say, meteor deaths to people who have been killed in car accidents. You have to be in a CAR to be killed in a car accident. In the hypothetical, you have to be IN THE WOODS. ALONE. Most murders happen between people that are known to each other and are in urban settings.

The bottom line is, a woman has a chance against a man. She has no chance against a bear.

Nintendo Of America Appears To Turn 'Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door' Character Into Transgender by Nintendogirl2 in TumblrInAction

[–]Alienhunter [score hidden]  (0 children)

The article is the epitome of journalism as well.

However, as noted by YouTuber ShortFatOtaku

Riveting source.

the original Japanese version of the game describes the character as an otokonoko or a femboy,

Elementary Japanese mistake so rediculous it basically calls into question anything this person says.

Otokonoko. 男の子

男 man 子child

Proper translation "Boy".

Like go look it up in any dictionary.

Anyway I've known about this for awhile as the trans elements on Nintendo sides of the internet would never shut up about it. Basically, it looks like this character was referred to as a boy in Japanese version, and was changed to be a girl in international version likely because Nintendo didn't want to cause friction with the US market. Or perhaps they figured it was just easier to not bother with the "joke" that the cute feminine looking creature thing is actually a boy the whole time since Japanese is naturally vague with pronouns where English is not.

Can't find textual evidence the character is trans though. Just loads of internet types screaming about it. Might have changed that in the rerelease as it seems the script got a rewrite but it looks to me so far that they've written it slyly enough that it's not outright. Probably to try to avoid a daily wire piece.

Nintendo has been typically pretty good at trying to stay out of this sort of thing but you've seen I creep in a little bit with their recent titles trying to avoid gendered terminology and the like on character select screens.

Gone are the old pokemon (are you a boy or a girl) and replaced with a more neutral (choose your character) type prompt for example.

The "Man or Bear" thing is about which a woman would feel safer with. It's not statistics. It's perception of risk.

If their perception of risk is wildly inaccurate, then the conversation needs to shift to that. That would be like saying: "I don't eat fruit because it contains live bees. This isn't about if or not fruit actually contains live bees, it's about how I choose to live my life."... Really, you can frame your fruit issue however you want, but addressing the fact that fruit doesn't contain live bees should be priority number one.

Besides, I wasn't making a comment on the purpose of the discussion, I was just addressing the statistics you, yourself, raised. It's especially important to look at them logically if someone were about to base their choice on bumping into a bear vs bumping into a man on them, but believed that they showed an elevated risk per random man compared to per random bear.

But by the same token seeing a brown bear in the woods isn't a death sentence.

That's true, and that was also part of my point. It wouldn't be fair to say every contact with a bear is doomed to end in being eaten alive while on the phone with your mother over 3 hours or so. In fact, for every reported "Bear Interaction", I bet there's another, undocumented one where the person simply never tells anyone what happened, or they don't even see the near by bear.

I'll bet there's even a few where both parties, bear and person, are totally unaware, like some Warner Brothers cartoon skit where they both hear something move, lean up against the same tree, but peak around the opposite sides and totally miss each other.

With that said, you likely still pass more random men on a hiking trail than you do bears, let alone when you get back to the city, catch a bus, go to work and so on... Unless you work in a zoo, specifically caring for the bears, I guess? Then it might be a toss up.

I think we basically keep kids too clean and they don't get robust immune systems when young. Kid plays in the dirt when young they'll encounter all sorts of dirty nasties people didn't know about, we know about them now and they are "bad" but keeping the kids from them just causes the developed immune system to detect unknown hazard and freak out I think.

There is a stereotype for kids with peanut allergies being hyper sheltered for a reason. And I don't think the sheltering started after the allergy was known.

There was an investigation of that. Lost in part because, in the interests of transparency he let the Trump-era Hur run the investigation. In the report Hur dwells on Biden's photographic memory. at one point Hur tells Biden "you appear to have a photographic understanding and, and recall of the house.", but turns it into a political hack job, where he claims biden is old and senile. The report makes if very clear he was sharp and the charges weren't brought because he didn't try to keep the documents.

The case history is that if you notify the authorities and cooperate promptly you don't get charged.

Biden noticed the documents (in a locked cabinet), let NARA know that day, and they were retrieved the same day.

The prompted a consensual search of Biden's home, and the other documents were found and retrieved.

Trump has engaged in a huge campaign running for four years of lying, delaying, moving documents so that they would not be retrieved, and trying to cover up that deceit.

Hence the search warrant, and the charges.

Also the concern that he has been or is selling the secrets to Saudi Arabia, or others.

Choosing the bear over the man kind of represents that doesn't it?

Statistics fail. The game, as it usually posed, is that a woman meets a random man or a random bear in the forest. A random man is likely to be harmless, or even helpful. The man that some women actually select over all other men can be a violent thug.

Feminists are brainwashed not to see the vast majority of helpful men, and instead focus only on the men who are harmful. Classic selection bias.

In A Relationship: The Man or the Bear? by TonyDiGerolamo in Comics

[–]ActuallyNot 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

That's not really: "On the other hand", that's a bit of a misunderstanding of how those statistics would work.

The "Man or Bear" thing is about which a woman would feel safer with. It's not statistics. It's perception of risk.

As for bears being aggressive, I think that's as much case by case as the average man is.

Sure, the video is during the salmon run. But by the same token seeing a brown bear in the woods isn't a death sentence. Recommended behaviour involves the basic strategies of letting the bear know you're there, and relying on the fact that they don't generally attack if they know you're a human and don't perceive you as a threat.

And being eaten is relatively rare too. Playing dead is the recommended strategy if you're getting mauled, which only works if they're not eating you.

Sorry, when you can't give information to support your claims, your claims are wrong.

I don't shill for anything except reality. Hence why you're getting no respect for making shit up and expecting people to believe it.

If you actually cared about the issue or any issue there's plenty research available.

Oh, the irony.

Well, they don't let us have sex in the Senate hearing room anymore.

Surely that depends on who's in the security room.

You think we have a case for a discrimination lawsuit?

I don't know. You'll need information on how much het sex there is going on there.

How many men does a woman typically encounter during the day?

I don't know. How many?

Also, how many of those male offenders were known to the female victim, and actually selected by her?

Choosing the bear over the man kind of represents that doesn't it?

Possibly/probably

What do you suspect occurred?

Do you hide your sexuality at work?

But I don’t expect the state to step in and defend me because I’m not a little bitch.

Are laws against behaviour the state stepping in to defend people?

Are there differences in laws against say murder and discrimination in terms of whether they represent the state stepping in to defend people?

The US today is the opposite of what the USA was in 1999.

Americans used to support personal responsibility, morality, peace, freedom, and balanced budgets. Now Americans love dependency, immorality, war, tyranny, and debt.

[–]GuyWhite 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

True.

An exothermic reaction may need a heat of initiation. The reaction then requires no energy for it to continue.

Example, a spark is needed to initiate combustion in an engine. After combustion begins, no further energy input is need to sustain the combustion.

Why MSFT Copilot+ and AI PCs are the final nail in the coffin of open computing by PanzersGhost in technology

This is gonna be real fun to watch from the sanctity of my Linux desktop. Not only will it be thrashing solid state drives mercilessly (they have limited write cycles), but, storing this much data about the user and what they do, even locally, which I doubt, is straight-up irresponsible. Besides, even if they say the analysis is kept local, you know that your particular interests (few KB of data) will be uploaded, whether that be to target you with advertisements or to target you with a raid by the government.

News flash, companies are not developing these features and giving them away because they have your best interests at heart. Also news flash, we are talking about one of the most aggressive companies that forces people to link their PC to an online account, and refuses to take "no" for an answer and respect personal space.

It's not the death of open computing at all. Not like someone's gonna come take away my Linux environment, it's merely entertainment for me to sit back, watch, and say "I told you so", when all of the reasons that this is a horrifically bad idea, of which there are probably many more that I haven't even thought of, start to present themselves.

I am the original comment. I am on topic - the point is that it's difficult to legally punish false allegations simply based on "No proof" because that isn't evidence that the allegation is false and it discourages other possible, future allegations.

If you're trying to say that you want me to keep the examples relevant specifically to HR, then it kind of remains the same argument - If it requires evidence, then I can corner someone in a bathroom and threaten to murder them at work, because it's just them and me in the bathroom. That's what I mean by HR having their hands tied in this regard because they face backlash if there's a complaint that they didn't action, but they also face backlash if there's a complaint that they do action and it turns out to be false.

that sort of rules-lawyering is also how the trans activists dethroned the radfems: if wombxn really were completely abjected victims, the worst in human history, with all the legal standing of a discarded sex toy, how do they also have an iron grip on campus HR departments, divert sexual assault allegations to Title IX star chambers, veto a men's center with 1% the budget of its equivalent, get multimillion budgets for women's shelters, write the laws, advise the courts, write the mandatory training sessions for all the businesses as well as schools?

they also came up with the whole "my individual experience as a middle-class academic professional is the only universal standard," "everyone must to defer to my contradictory and self-serving whims," "we have to be in control of every institution," "you're a traitor to the gender for disagreeing with our niche theories/having any different politics," frankly it never ended: but to many this was an opportunity to be TAKEN

so everyone secretly agreed they were callous, vindictive, spiteful bullies always on the witch-hunt for "oppressors" to have the campus/HR punish (an inverse of Lord Acton's law): what sort of sick bastard(ess) thinks Phil Hartman had it coming or that street kids can go starve if they have a dongle? but unfortunately the ~2014 shift just meant a new busload of psychotic bullies were given full (if secondhand) authority over mainstream media companies, universities, grade schools, law (this was also the time when "you don't need dysphoria to be trans, but we'll unalive ourselves from dysphoria if you ever disagree with us uwu" teens flooded out the older trans)
