Lets dispel with this fiction that Dublin Pride doesn't know what they're doing. They know exactly what they're doing.

More continued hand-wringing and conflation of LGB with TQ+.

The 2023 state legislative session was the worst year on record for anti-LGBTQ+ legislation:
* More than 525 bills were introduced in 41 states.
* Over 220 of these bills explicitly targeted transgender people.
* Over 76 bills have been signed into law as of June 5, 2023 — more than any year on record, and more than double over last year.

The backlash is real.

Hmmm, what's this all about:

Transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming youth in particular have been directly impacted

I read their "guidebook for action". Page 3 is especially telling. The mental gymnastics is great:

LGBTQ+ Erasure Law. Laws adopting a discriminatory definition of sex that, in reducing people to their reproductive abilities, eliminates a broad array of protections for LGBTQ+ people and women embedded throughout state law.

I also did a control-F for these words:

  • lesbian: 0
  • gay: 0
  • bisexual: 0
  • sexual (to include homosexual, sexuality, and sexual orientation): 9
  • trans: 38
  • gender: 72

Let the propoganda and fear-mongering flow:

a lot of the people pushing the “drop the T” rhetoric are conservatives specifically trying to drive the community apart.

The LGB / drop the T movement is not a queer movement, it's astro turfed by bigoted hetero weirdos.

most people spouting this "Drop the T" BS are TERFs who fetishize the idea of lesbians

If gay people are going against transgender people. They dont know their history and need to get educated on the people who fought the law and won.

Never forget Marsha P Johnson, the mother of pride and one of the first to throw a brick at the Stonewall riots was a black trans woman. We literally wouldn’t be here if not for a trans woman.

There is a TERF hate-movement called LGB-Alliance. They are quite iffy with the B too from what I've seen.

If us trans people are eliminated, there's ALWAYS a boogie man. YOU ARE NEXT. You will always BE next. They hate you. You aren't IN with them.

Fortunately Pride organisers aren’t buying it. I saw so many signs supporting trans people at my recent one

Thank god the billion dollar corporations are risking everything to represent us. Where would we be without them.

And OMG, can they PLEASE STOP making comparisons to the Holocaust, it's disgusting:

This comment either got removed or is in their modqueue, but you can see it in her profile:

My wife has been taking E for less than a month. You wouldn't believe how big the difference is. She may not "pass" but this lesbian is turned on by her.

Her using a feminine name and pronouns and wearing women's clothes has done wonders for my attraction. Also her smell has changed and her penis smells just like a cis woman's vagina. Believe me, trans women are attractive to anyone who likes women. Internalized transphobia will make people uncomfortable but when all is said and done they're terrified of their own attraction to you.

Welcome everyone!

we leave a pinned post pointing to this Sadit alternative.

Take it a step further, and have AutoMod leave a pinned comment on every new post advertising that you've moved over here. That's what my sub did, and it really helped with our migration before we were banned. The problem with only using a sticky post is that Reddit changed how they're seen for mobile users some time back, and those users may miss it since it will collapse after they've been to the sub a few times.

I would recommend re-opening the sub in some limited manner, if only to get your message out. Another lovely feature of Reddit for mobile users is that they won't see your full private sub message with the redirect. I just pulled it up on my phone (browser, not app) and this is all I see: https://imgur.com/a/WWtahwb

What do you think of the Budweiser/Dylan Mulvaney situation? by JulienMayfair in LGBDropTheT

[–]NutterButterFlutter 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I think there are several things, but ultimately, conservatives finally felt this was a culture war outrage they could stand up against and win.

Not that beer, or Bud Light in particular, is representative of conservatives. But there is a specific class of people (working class, lower income, etc) who tend to drink Bud Light. In the US at least, that class is often conservative or moderate with traditional values, so it struck a nerve. They saw right through the propaganda and wanted to make their feelings about it known.

If Bud Light had gone with a softer approach to inclusiveness - maybe a gay male spokesman who lives a more traditional lifestyle with his husband and raising children - I don't think the reaction would have been anything like this. Instead an uber-woke marketing woman decided to completely ignore the audience of people who are receptive to Bud Light. She brought in not only an offensive caricature of women, but also one who is not a "good gay".

Mulvaney's personality is the campy/dramatic type that bullies perceive as weak, and he was likely beat up and called all sorts of names for being gay growing up. And now this "queer" (slur, not alphabet-soup letter) is the face of a brand that is practically synonymous with their lifestyle. There is an undercurrent of homophobia in the dislike and contempt, for sure.

What does everything think about what's going on over at Reddit? Is this the death knell, are we seeing Digg 2.0 in real time? Or will social media addiction overcome all resistance?

For those out of the loop, Reddit announced changes to their API access 1-2 months back, which were to become effective June 19th. Rate limitations, costs to utilize, and limiting NSFW content are the major changes.

In May, they killed Pushshift API access, which is what drives sites like Unddit, Reveddit, and more. Pushshift may or may not be coming back with new terms, we'll see.

Most recently, the largest 3rd party developer app (Apollo, for iOS) had a conversation with Reddit about what their costs would be. It comes with a price tag of $20,000,000 USD per year. That is not a typo, it's 20 million. Reddit assured developers that the costs would be reasonable, and instead, went down the Twitter path.

Since all 3rd party apps use the API and will have ridiculously inflated costs, they are shutting their apps down as of July 1st, the hard cutoff date. I've been feeding my drama-llama for the past few days, and the concerns are:

  • Most users are willing to give money to app developers to continue, but very few are "whales". Even if they weren't offended by Reddit's behavior towards developers, they simply can't afford $10-$20 per month to support the ridiculous $20M price tag.

  • Limiting NSFW content in the API means no porn, and we know Redditors can't just NOT consume porn. The horror! I joke, but in their defense, it IS limiting half (if not more) of the content available on Reddit.

  • Many many MANY mods use 3rd party apps to work on their phone. It's been a long time since I used the Reddit app, but when our sub was still there, the mod tools were laughable and ineffective, and the app was filled with ads and suggested/promoted content instead of my home page. It was terrible, and I can only imagine it's gotten worse. If mods can't mod on their phones, then they're chained to their desktop/laptop PCs to function properly. That introduces delays in timely management, and some mods don't even have a desktop/laptop to fall back on.

Mods are now coordinating a sitewide sub blackout in protest. The protest will begin on June 12th. Regular users of 3rd party apps are all threatening to leave Reddit entirely on July 1st, and are already signing up at other sites like Lemmy, Tildes, etc.

It's pedos drawing on current western activism and media narratives to try to establish a foothold and become accepted. They twist and reframe the arguments against themselves into half-truths or no truth at all - then they fall back on activism narratives to keep people riled up so they will ignore the implications of what the pedos are promoting.

Briefly, ignore the dog-whistles about race and class. Ignore the trigger words about innocence or religion. Even ignore the LGB/queer/hetero/cis/gender stuff.

Remember, those are all activism narratives being used, so take those completely unrelated topics out of the conversation. What remains?

The 'T' in my time (80s/90s/00s) stood for "transsexual". There were two possible meanings:

1) AGP, which were shunned outside of Rocky Horror Picture Show type of fan-girling
2) HSTS, which were shunned by heteros

"Gender" was just a synonym for "sex". It was a substitute word, not a personal descriptive.

Radfem ideology was starting to become a little more prevalent during those decades, and we started to learn about gender *roles* ... but there was never a "gender" of the psyche that erased sex/biology.

Gender dysphoria was recognized as a medical and mental health condition to be treated. AGPs didn't have it, they were fetishists. HSTS had it, and needed help.

I really hope Reddit dies as a result of this, especially since its so close to them becoming public, but I think the protest has lost the way now and won't be effective. The 3rd party apps have removed themselves from the equation, so now the mods just have to stand against the Reddit Admins in favor of ... ???

2) Mods not getting enough censoring/banning tools in a timely manner

I'm looking forward to the mess Reddit becomes because of this though.

[–]NutterButterFlutter 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The top commenter (slashcleverusername) seems to have gotten it spot on:

topping and bottoming are terms from homosexual sex. It’s lovely that straight people have been so inspired but it’s really nothing to do with them, historically.

You may be confusing this with terms from bdsm, which is not strictly about position, but people who also get some kind of sexy thrill from playing around with roles about who is more assertive and who lets it happen or follows the other person’s lead.

If you go to a gay man's group, of course they'll say topping/bottoming is theirs. If you go to a BDSM group, they'll say it's theirs. It's about context.

I am so TIRED of always having to advocate for myself, for educating cis dumbasses and for not having the right to be mad. I am so frustrated that nobody understands.

Disregard this "cis" and "trans" aspect of what went on in this particular experience.

What happened to her in the past, and what she's experiencing in the present, is just guy things and patriarchy in action. She believes that gay men are not like straight men, they are soft and feminine and uWu (homophobia) so they won't do the same things.

But this actually has nothing to do with sexuality at all. Its culture and gender roles and all of that. Like what Radfems/GC talk about. Its the very clear difference in how men and women behave with each other.

I am scared that I will not be angry and assertive enough when I'll see him, because I feel like if I'm not sweet he will go away and I'll be alone forever.

At the end of it all, it has nothing to do with how he responds. He will act how he does because of how he learned and grew up in his particular society and community. The problem is her, and her perception, and her needs trying to be shoved onto someone else.

TL,DR: Started to fall in love with a cis guy, we had sex. He wrote a text about my body and how feminine he saw me.

THAT'S BECAUSE HE IS GAY AND YOU ARE A WOMAN.

Post has now been removed, and for anyone who can't see the archive:

  • Post is in r/gaytransguys
  • Post title: Sometimes I feel like I truly will be alone forever

It's only occasional. Like sometimes I go into depressive spirals or I hear ab my friends' relationships and it kinda just. Hits me. The feeling not a realization or anything, I'm not completely convinced I'll die alone and unloved. I'm an optimist.

But I think ab myself as I am. My identity, my standards (low), and where I live. Like I'm an asexual gay trans guy and I live in a rural ass area in Michigan. Not a lot of progressive ppl at least in my sense. I know a lot of gay guy culture is sex based - like hookup culture n shit. I.. do not like sex. I'm very sex positive, sure, but also sex adverse. I don't like sex, rather not have it, and that's a huge deal breaker for the general population, nevermind the general gay population. So I guess I'm kinda scared my small ass dating pool is basically non-existent cause I'm ace and knowing my luck all of the gay guys around me aren't emotionally mature enough for an actual relationship and only have the capacity for under the table hookups. And then there's the issue of my being trans that just adds a whole other layer I think is pretty obvious.

I guess what I'm rambling for is; there's a reality where I'm not alone forever, right? Someone will like me for all that I am and on purpose? There's hope for ppl like me?

I hate articles that force you to look at pictures and tags and ads, and click through just to read what could have been summed up in a single paragraph. Too much of a forced narrative/direction, especially with stock photos designed to appeal to certain emotions. It feels click-baity and purposeful to dumb down readers.

For everyone else who hates it too, here's the text on the slides:

“Queerness” Should Be Taught in Pre-School, Not Teaching Sexuality Is Seen as a “Very White, Middle Class” Thing to Do
Story by S.Salmaan

1) “Queerness” Should Be Taught in Pre-School, Not Teaching Sexuality Is Seen as a “Very White, Middle Class” Thing to Do: A preschool teacher in California was slammed after challenging the notion of “childhood innocence” and advocating for discussing typically sensitive topics with young children. Here’s the full story.

2) The Controversial Argument: William “Willy” Villalpando, the center of this controversy, has argued that certain subjects considered “inappropriate,” including queerness and gender identity, can be appropriately introduced to pre-K age children.

3) His View On “Childhood Innocence”: Villalpando, an educator associated with Trapp Preschool in the Rialto Unified School District, says that the concept of “childhood innocence” is a myth that does not align with the reality of children’s experiences.

4) Not Effective: In a society where information is easily accessible and children are exposed to diverse perspectives, he argues that shielding them from certain topics may not be as effective as fostering open dialogues that address their natural curiosity.

5) Children Are Experiencing These Topics Already: He said, “There is a common mythology that children live in this world of pure innocence, and that introducing or exposing them to real-world adults is somehow shattering this illusion for them. Therefore, there is a banning of topics and issues that children should not be exposed to, as if they are not experiencing them already.”

6) It’s Vital: Central to Villalpando’s beliefs is his advocacy for introducing discussions about gender and sexuality to preschool children. He said, “Children experience gender and race every day. They need (and deserve) [to see] themselves to feel seen, and them to see others not like them.”

7) Educators’ Responsibility: Villalpando emphasized that children should see themselves in the classroom, and educators have a responsibility to ensure that children’s identities and experiences are acknowledged.

8) Not Exposing Children to Sexuality Is Very White: He argued that the idea of children not being exposed to “sexuality,” is “a view that is very white, Christian, upper-class, cis-gendered, and hetero-centric.”

9) Critics Slammed Him: However, his viewpoints have stirred up considerable controversy. Critics slammed him saying that exposing young children to topics like queerness and sexuality could potentially lead to confusion or premature awareness of concepts beyond their developmental understanding.

10) It’s Inappropriate: Opponents argue that his approach disregards the importance of preserving the innocence of childhood and that sensitive topics should be addressed at an age-appropriate stage.

11) Parents Kno w What to Do: Critics say that while children may naturally encounter these topics, it is the role of caregivers and parents to guide them through understanding in a way that aligns with their family values.

12) Social Media Users Shared Their Views: Several social media users expressed their thoughts on the incident. One Twitter user wrote, “Spoken as one who probably had their innocence taken from them as a child. I weep for these people and the cycle of abuse they perpetuate.”

13) He Should Not Be a Preschool Teacher: Another User wrote, “Whole intentions are suspect with this man…..if he doesn’t understand the age-inappropriate nature of gender identity ideology with little kids he should not be a preschool teacher and all preschool teachers should be required to sign a written agreement to not expose kids.”

You heard it here, everyone. Don't remove spam, CP, or porn. That's subjective, and removing them is a slippery slope to banning everything else.

For the record, I agree with you on the biased censorship path Reddit went down. I agree with the progression you're sharing. However, I think they did it because they were degenerate sick assholes all along, and so were thousands of users. They were protecting themselves, not free expression.

Reddit and their CP-addicted fucks manipulated the site into the "slippery slope", while pretending it didn't exist and encouraging normies to hide their intentions. Reddit doesn't care about copyrights, they have lawyers. They don't care about "misinformation", they tell people what is factual because of the mockingbird journalists in media. They don't care about right-wing, they have manipulated the users into believing far-left-wing is real.

Ignoring the first things in your list appearing on SaidIt - spam, CP, and general porn - guarantees this site becomes the same. THAT is the slippery slope. Porn and spam is NOT subjective, and anyone who believes otherwise is a grifting astroturfer.

Be cautious, and don't block - report, call it out, and rid us of it.

[–]NutterButterFlutter 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, no. But the current mod team isn't 100% on the side of homosexuality/same-sex.

I seem to remember there being concerns about BarefootJacob when he first was added to the team, although I can't remember exactly why. I know the current top mod, surprisedropbears, is sympathetic to trans - I've heard he tries to mod in the old style of Valkyerie though, and not let his personal opinions come in the way of the sub.

South Carolina Trans Teen Killed; Man He (no, SHE) Met for Date Charged With Murder by Chunkeeguy in LGBDropTheT

[–]NutterButterFlutter[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This media source is reporting on a woman who met up with a man who killed her. The woman was allegedly trans (FTM), and we do not know about the alleged perpetrator.

While that sounds like it has literally nothing to do with us, technically, it can be shared because it's *The Advocate* virtue signaling for T. The Advocate was a primarily LGB publication in the past. There is nothing to suggest either the victim or perpetrator are victims of hate crimes for being LGB, so at this point, it's colonization of our resources and erasure.

I don't know if that was the intention of the post since the majority of users don't add flair to demonstrate their reason for sharing. Having been around a while, I guess it probably wasn't. Our mod team is willing to look past the individual though, so we all can see and understand the cause-and-effect.

PS: if you locate original journalistic sources or more details for the information shared here, please do let us know. TTTT-media is not reliable, it's just demonstrative.

Just a reminder ... please head on over to s/LGB for your non-T conversations. It's finally opened!

Although at the moment, only select users can create posts. The goal is to open it up to everyone as time goes on, so please do what you can to encourage the community and help LGB gain members!

If only they would. Our sub and movement could shut down then.

They would rather attach themselves to us and ride on the goodwill our LGB brothers and sisters of the past fought to get for us ... not realizing they are the ones causing the whole ship to sink.

I was watching that happen in real time and just refreshing to see the mess. It really was a dumpster fire. Roughly 20 Admin replies against 16000+ user comments. They answered very select early questions, and that was it.

To be fair, most top-level requests had multiple questions, which doesn't work for an AMA. It should be one at a time. But it was very telling how only specific questions were answered, and with copy-paste template responses.

I cant wait to see the shitshow the site becomes on June 12th, Reddit blackouts have always been good for a laugh. The front page of r/all will be a ghost town with subs either going private, or locked down/restricted to only mod updates.

Here's the list of subs that will be participating: https://old.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/duplicates/1401qw5/incomplete_and_growing_list_of_participating

My prediction:

I think Reddit won't budge on charging for high-tier access to APIs, but they may consider a slight price reduction as waving a white flag to get all the powermods to calm down. Pushshift will come back and pay the costs because they have institutions and funding behind them as support. App developers will still have to shut down since they can't afford it.

Powermods won't be able to resist coming back to Reddit though, THIS IS THEIR LIFE, and they'll continue to mod and complain about how terrible Reddit is. But they'll be less effective at what they do as all their tools stop working and Reddit doesn't rebuild them natively in the app or on New Reddit. Old Reddit will die, and with it, Toolbox and RES. Spam and astroturfing and general low-quality shit will creep into subs more and more, and make it unbearable for mods and old users who remember the good old days.

New users will have no idea of any of this going on because they're already on the Reddit app and New Reddit - these are users who just scroll and consume, as Reddit sinks into garbage quality content and reposts. These users will be none the wiser that the good days are behind them because they never knew they existed. They will not be loyal to Reddit though, not in the same way the old users and mods are/were. Once Reddit gets boring, they will easily download another app and go to the next hot thing.

In short, I think we're watching a gigantic fire-y turd coming out of Reddit headquarters as they (again) prepare to go public, and it will lead to their demise. It won't be quick though, it will be slow and painful and their executives will keep scratching their heads wondering what went wrong and why they're bleeding users for a few years. By that time, several of the alternatives will have built up enough of a stable presence that people will start dividing their time between those sites instead.

Reddit as an aggregator and discussion forum really had something special, and they had it for a long time. This is not how they keep it that way though, and I don't think they really want to anymore. They're no longer this cool indie trailblazer taking the web in a new direction. They're a gigantic tech presence now, and power-hungry and corrupt. Most companies get there in the end, and then they fade away as something new and innovative comes along.

Not sure. I just read their rules, and best I can figure is maybe the mods want her to flair it NSFW since it talks about sex, or maybe put a TW flair since she says she thinks she'll die alone and unloved?

I love AGB, bros there just get right to the point and give no shits.

Bisexual erasure is a real thing, but it sounds like this guy got caught up in it because of low self-esteem. Didn't believe in himself or that any woman would find him worthy, so he defaulted to "gay" without doing any real introspection.

LGB people aren't a huge presence on the site, and SaidIt as a whole is pretty small as it is. Combine that with the 90-9-1 rule for social media, and we end up with LGB subs that are just kinda floating along with very small pockets of activity.

This sub was also closed for a long time, so I'm sure that didn't help things either.

Shadowban the bots instead of perma-banning.

Let them post into the void/oblivion and not realize they are invisible.

If or when SaidIt gets better tools to investigate and deal with bots, then perma-bans can be a thing.

I kind of feel bad for her. She's been so fucked up by TRAs and queer theory that she's never been able to accept herself for who she is. And with the internet being such a powerful force of propaganda, she's still very deep in looking for outside validation.

She might be straight, she might be bi, but with all the constant drama being thrown at her, it will take her a long time to figure it out.

I know its a while away (and also US-specific), but I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving. I like to cook, but I don't always have a reason to make something long and involved, or that feeds a bunch of people.

I save recipes as I find them, and Thanksgiving is the perfect time for me to try them out because it's a 4 day weekend where I can get together with people and we all just stuff our faces with food, lol

Last year I did cheesy stuffed bell peppers, which I havent had since I was a kid. And the year before, I did completely homemade green bean casserole (all fresh ingredients, nothing canned or frozen). Not sure what Im going to try this year yet.

The layman's way of understanding APIs is: every bit of information on a site goes into a database. APIs are a tool that allows 3rd parties to access the database from outside the company, and make something with all that data.

Some people make apps for your phone, some make new websites, some use it for personal fun, some use it for data hoarding, etc.
