You can't touch beer or football. Straight men don't fuck around. It's the same reason why trans women shame lesbians to date them but they don't dare to do the same with straight men.

Its not like I'm a fan of straight men culture, but I guess this shows where the real power in society is. It didn't change one bit

It's not any one reaction, but rather just a slow build-up of outrage and anger at this preposterous ideology being pushed everywhere you look. The push-back has been a long time coming, and it's going to keep rolling forward as more and more people dare to stand up and just ask: why? I still say that the media and progressives have not fully appreciated what this Drag Queen bullshit has woken up in what is STILL the Majority.

That said, Mulvaney himself is offensive because he is playing up this ridiculous caricature that SHOULD be making women of all shapes and colors red with rage....but for some reason people ( especially Hollyweird and "the left" ) are playing him up to be this hero of epic proportions. Drew Barrymore, past her prime as she is, actually KNELT in front of the weirdo. And the biggest takeaway for me is that he's an actor. I just can't shake the feeling that this is all some manufactured role for him to play to push this trans bullshit, and Epstein's clients are all clamoring to reaffirm him.

I don't think it peaked them, but they were getting tired of the gender theology being forced on them in the culture. Suddenly something that is marketed to them has gender ideology on it, "woke" ideology on it, which left them feeling encroached upon. If there was a product marketed and used mainly by progressives, and then they put the head of the NRA on it, the left would have a problem with it.

What made it worse was the head of marketing was caught in a viral video saying how the brand was too heavy on frat culture, basically making fun of the people who were the majority of Bud Light drinkers. She was trying to appeal to a new market of people who would never buy Bud Light.

So basically you have this buffoon (Dylan) who they think is mocking women as well as spreading gender ideology splashed across their beer, and they decided to teach Bud a lesson.

The ironic part is that the woke LGBTQ++ decided that Bud should have supported trans instead of scrambling to cut their losses, so now LGBTQ community and bars, etc. are also boycotting Bud. So they are in a no win situation lol.

I heard about that, makes me laugh too

I think there are several things, but ultimately, conservatives finally felt this was a culture war outrage they could stand up against and win.

Not that beer, or Bud Light in particular, is representative of conservatives. But there is a specific class of people (working class, lower income, etc) who tend to drink Bud Light. In the US at least, that class is often conservative or moderate with traditional values, so it struck a nerve. They saw right through the propaganda and wanted to make their feelings about it known.

If Bud Light had gone with a softer approach to inclusiveness - maybe a gay male spokesman who lives a more traditional lifestyle with his husband and raising children - I don't think the reaction would have been anything like this. Instead an uber-woke marketing woman decided to completely ignore the audience of people who are receptive to Bud Light. She brought in not only an offensive caricature of women, but also one who is not a "good gay".

Mulvaney's personality is the campy/dramatic type that bullies perceive as weak, and he was likely beat up and called all sorts of names for being gay growing up. And now this "queer" (slur, not alphabet-soup letter) is the face of a brand that is practically synonymous with their lifestyle. There is an undercurrent of homophobia in the dislike and contempt, for sure.

i dont even know why they thought this was a good idea in the first place. did they forget who their customers are?

They wanted to change customer base so pretty much decided they didn't care about their current customers. It's been happening all along. It was easy for companies catering to lesbians to cater to transbians as they outnumber lesbians. It was even relatively easy for companies catering to women to forcefully market to transwomen as plenty of real women go along with trans ideology and the amount of women who will boycott was relatively low. Then even when the scales shifted, ESG money made up for lost business.

But Bud Lite was a perfect storm. One, they pushed too far. Most of their customer base are straight men and a hell of a lot more straight men are willing to push back. Two, Musk's Twitter allows this to be discussed in a way that would have been impossible a year before. Three, ESG money is less available as Vanguard is backing off it's programmes. And probably even Four, the increases in cost of living means people have less discretionary income. Meaning if you are buying luxury items you want to feel really good about it. Switching brands simply felt better to a lot of people at a time when they need to feel more control about how they spend money.

That face on the beer can is just so cringe to look at, I'm sure that didn't help.

Personally I think an element of homophobia and sexism... good ole beer drinkers not wanting to be associated with either a gay man or a (psuedo) woman. And an element of not liking Dylan at all. Imo, be interesting if any market research ever emerges

I'm wondering if most of the Bud Light boycotters don't care about Dylan Mulvaney per se, but they don't want to be made fun of by other Bud Light drinkers in social situations, and it's pretty easy to just by Coors Light instead, so they take the safer route.

Pandering to the woke leftists and everyone knows it. They are giving Dylan who has NPD (narcisscistic personality disorder all actors/actresses have it) the fame and attention he wants.

I remember being a lot younger and gay/LGB bars did not stock, sell, or have cans, bottles, or kegs on tap of Coors light.

Younger generations of gays prefer weed anyway.
