When you hear the Ukraine exchange there, it's like the whole opening of a Tucker Carlson show. He's not there anymore, but that is what it is. These are hardworking people. There are too many Democrats who want to say they're deplorable or why talk to these people? But there are millions of them. This is a family that's an economic anchor in the community. The business started in a basement and employs 80 people, a new collar company employs 15 people, in a part of a country that's been devastated and challenged economically the last 25 years. They're good people. They raise money for the girl scouts. They go to church, but they believe things that would break a fact-check machine.

And they don't trust us. They think we're part of the problem.

It's funny, because CNN thinks that Iowans are the ones in a bubble.

I don't see this as a bad thing per se, as it seems that the culture of existing members of Saidit seems to be edgelords throwing around slurs and insults with reckless abandon a la 4chan and calling it free speech. Perhaps this is a good enough solution as WotB is more for mature informed discourse and Sadit is less... grown up.

This lets s/WayoftheBern to continue to be a refuge from Reddit without offending the peculiar "free speech" sensibilities of the regulars of Saidit. Reading /rising just now, the entire tone of Reddit has taken a hit. It comes across to me as extra spammy. Almost Digg-like. Without the Mods and users, Reddit is screwed, IMHO. Why remove mods when Reddit could just start their own subreddit on any given topic and appoint their own mods? Clearly Reddit needs the existing communities. The IPO must be on thin ice.

With 12% of Bernie Primary voters switching to Trump in 2016, bumping those rookie numbers up, would be helpful to MAGA. Conversely, what does MAGA offer the populist left? I would argue that some kind of accord on policy could be reached. But only if MAGA stops falling for "Communism" and the populist left falling for "Nazi."

For example, even Bernie was at one time for secure borders and gun rights. And I doubt he'd be hostile to protectionist trade policy. If MAGA would get more on board with MJ legalization and ending private prisons, we're half way there.
