3000 troops is the number I've seen floating around. Seems more like a weakling trying puff its chest out kind of move. Russia has at least half a million troops mobilized with more waiting in the wings if needed. The neocons are running out of options it seems so they do these moves for optics.

The US military engagement in Viet Nam started as a trickle too.

I'm still of the opinion that Joey B and his advisors don't want US troops in a conflict in an election year. Troops coming home in body bags is bad optics.

This is not good folks. These people are genuinely stupid and insane. Bad combination. Smoke em if you got ‘em.

If Biden is pulling a Desert Storm, shit is about to get real. I have doubts. But the clown show that is the Biden admin is not beyond insanity in the face of losing Ukraine, badly.

This has Viet Nam vibes to me. The sunk cost fallacy continues to grow exponentially.

The emergency is that the military can't meet their recruitment goals so they need to call up reserves for critical jobs.

Compare the US and Russian recruitment ads. One is some annoying girl prattling on about her two moms and working on an air defense system that doesn't work, and the other talks about pain and sacrifice and employs a dialectic.

Incidentally enough, Russia doesn't seem to have a problem finding volunteers, in the middle of a war.

Russia have not even deployed their military yet in significant numbers. It's all been penal units and mercenaries taking the brunt. Yevgeny Prigozhin was supposedly upset that Putin was holding back and not just finishing the job. It seems like the Russians have accurately assessed this is a war of attrition and the best strategy was to fall back into strong defensive positions to let NATO punch itself out. If your greatest fear is a NATO invasion letting them waste their surplus hardware early and often on amateur soldiers makes that much harder to supply professional soldiers later on. It's classic World War I demilitarization meat grinder. The longer Putin holds back Russia's professional soldiers the better their position gets.

Maybe we should turn this fact into a metaphorical club and use it to rake ukraine supporters metaphorically over metaphorical coals

I would suggest instead that we request they volunteer for front line service. It's easy to cheer for a war from an arm chair. It's another to get in the trenches and face hell full on.

The first faces I want to see in the trenches are those of Vicky Nuland and Antony Blinken.

Absolutely. They're Ukrainians, they should be with their own people. Send that NAZI hag Freeland and that fat loser Vindman over there too.

You want our illustrious elite to tolerate the proximity of working-class white male heterosexual Christian Southerners like these?

You monster.

I bet Russia gets volunteers every time NATO/Ukraine bombs civilians in the Donbass or Russia. The best way to recruit is to be at war with a hated rival, so recruits can look forward to killing them. Nobody joins the military so they can scrape paint and clean grease traps.

the military can't meet their recruitment goals

I think you have hit the nail on the head. Not to mention all those "released" for not getting the jab.

Cant even not hose our own military when vaccine profits are on the line

Not to mention all those "released" for not getting the jab.

And all those "released" for getting it then becoming unable to serve, because of completely unrelated and unexplainable coincidences.

Incidentally enough, Russia doesn't seem to have a problem finding volunteers, in the middle of a war.

And yet, Russia has apparently been on the verge of losing the war for more than a year now, and has been conscripting left and right because nobody wants to fight.

Or so the TV says.

Meanwhile... the US who is supposedly not directly involved (because yeah, that's been credible since day 1) is doing this.

But I guess this is just the democratic party standing up for freedom or something.

Operation Atlantic Resolve

What kind of horseshit is this?

The only thing they do is war.

[–]penelopepnortneyBecome ungovernable 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

According to Larry Johnson:

Operation Atlantic Resolve is the name for the U.S. military response to Russia's Special Military Operation. While the number of troops being activated and deployed is not large, is Biden making a direct threat to Russia that is likely to elicit a very unpleasant response from Putin.

I wonder how long it took the DNC's highly paid consultants (who in many cases are themselves members of the Democratic National Committee) to focus-group that spiffy name.

I think they must be like that Twitter (former, hopefully) employee who posted the video about her day, which mostly seemed to be comprised of coffee breaks and lunch. She got massacred in the comments.

But they're very resolute in waging it in the Atlantic. And by Atlantic they mean anything that appears on a map with the word Atlantic on it.

I hereby determine that it is necessary to augment the active Armed Forces of the United States for the effective conduct of Operation Atlantic Resolve in and around the United States European Command’s area of responsibility.

...

United States European Command

Mmh... Sorry, the US what command's area of what now?

Ok, I had missed the memo in which the US had already named the various parts of the world that are to be considered US military stations.

Maybe somebody should tell them that the part of the map containing the words "U.S. NORTHERN" is pretty much the only area in which the US military has any fucking business to be and do anything, unless being explicitly asked for assistance. And who the fuck would be asking for assistance from the US nowadays.

The "US central command" goes from Palestine to Afghanistan? Mmh... Well they've certainly been very focused on fucking their whole "central command" area over the past decades.

The silver lining of this whole thing (by which I mean human civilization, if you can even call it that) is that we won't be getting the opportunity to fuck up more of the universe than our tiny worthless negligible speck of stardust.
