The biggest proof that "Push him left" doesn't work is seeing how far the "Dem" voters have been pushed "Right" over the years.

He who gazes into the abyss and all that...

When this tired ass line of voting for a 3rd party is a vote for Trump gets bandied about , it tells me to vote 3rd party. Also I'm spiteful when it comes to this.

Democrat noise in. Democrat noise out. They need us. We don't need them.

If you think votes reported reflect votes cast, they need us. Otherwise....

Democrats can't have it both ways.

They claim that a vote for the candidate of a newer party is a vote for the Republican nominee. So, no vote has been suppressed!

Also, isn't it amusing that the Party that takes the most votes from Democrats is not the struggling Green Party, but the thriving Republican Party. So, why focus on the Greens, who've been getting fewer and fewer Presidential votes?

And here's a totally radical thought--How about politicians doing their job and representing most Americans, instead of only those who have (generous) lobbyists?

Here's an excellent WotB discussion from September 2020: Voting in 2020 be like

I particularly like this comment by u/PirateGirl-JWB:

Two party system, in a nutshell:

At this table, we offer you a choice of two glasses of poison — this red one will kill you quickly, and this blue one will kill you very, very slowly. Oh, and ignore the guy at the next table from the GP. Those glasses of water, milk or V8 juice will never quench your thirst.

Here is my favorite essay on this subject. It's from 2016 at /r/jillstein: How I feel as a former Bernie supporter right now:

I feel like I'm in a very large, very crowded room right now, filled with people who are all about to vote on whether we will all go blind, or all go deaf. Oh, and there are also other options on the table that nobody seems to be discussing. Conversations between these people and myself go like this:

"You can't possibly be willing to vote to go blind, can you? Just imagine how terrible that would be!"

"I agree, that sounds awful! Going deaf also seems like an awful choice, I'm going to vote to eat cupcakes."

"Pfft, you're just throwing your vote away. Look around here, nobody is going to vote for that! You might not like it but we're either all going deaf or all going blind and you might as well choose the better of those two options."

"I don't want either of those options. I'd rather eat cupcakes."

"Well I would too, but nobody is going to vote that way. We have a two-choice system set up and we have to pick between two crappy options."

Read the whole thing. It's not long and very well said.

This is one of many really stupid ways in which Republicans are trying to appeal to the dumbest voters in order to split the Democrat vote. --bootylicious

Do you really think Democrats need help alienating voters who once believed the "party of working people" talk and finally started comparing it to the walk?

It is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don't want and get it. --Eugene V. Debs

I mean, it's not like you're in the habit of answering questions, even when asked of you directly.

The funny part is I've often felt disappointed in Brie post-election, since she seems to be devolving into more and more of a conventional Dem. There are occasional hints of what she used to be: whip-smart, fearless, and principled, by far the best part of Bernie's second campaign, but they're much too rare.

Seeing her get the "evil purist" treatment is really an eye-opener. I only hope it will be for her as well.

Her most recent The Hill bits, have been extra disappointing, as she solidifies towards the DNC.

She’s been getting this treatment since before 2020. She voted Green 2 cycles. She will vote for Cornel this time around. She supported force the vote. She has never been a conventional Dem.

Yeah, which is why I said "seems to be devolving into," rather than "is."

I've just found her to be more inclined to range into idpol territory, on Rising and her own show, than she was during the campaign. Back then she seemed as contemptuous of it as any WotBer.

In 2016 I voted for Jill Stein. To Democrats, that was a vote for Trump. To Republicans, it was a vote for Hillary. So I got to vote three times! All perfectly legal, of course 🦊

Taking that comment to the serious realm:

If we were powerful, would we be scorned and ridiculed with sticks rather than courted with policiy and action carrots?

Guess it's just more shaming in the public square to coerce the desired behavior.
