Dave Smith: RFK Defends His Position On Israel | Part Of The Problem 1088 by Maniak in WayOfTheBern

[–]emorej 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

My takeaways from the interview:

  • Many of Smith's comments and clap-backs would probably be said by Max Blumenthal, who of course would sharpen them and would prioritize highlighting the pattern of ongoing Israeli expulsion pressure on Palestinians (Are my eyes deceiving me, or is our moment taking on ever broader "horse-shoe" coalition potential?);
  • Smith is impressive across the board, & both participants have good civility-preservation skills;
  • A substantive interview is always too short, resulting in much omitted follow-up, not least on RFK Jr.'s last-moment reference to Syria as "another vassal state" of Iran;
  • RFK Jr., despite being overly wedded to many historical assertions and (somewhat repetitive time-wasting) rhetorical devices (and a few evasions) of much Israeli propaganda, still comes across as much more impressive, in intellectual coherence, than Trump or Biden (even if they were each 30 years younger);

I suspect that this interview could encourage many Libertarians to see RFK Jr. as a lesser-evil candidate than Biden or Trump. That is obviously a higher priority for RFK Jr. at present than delivering similar encouragement to Max Blumenthal's viewer base. It remains unclear (probably not least in the mind of RFK Jr.) whether:

  • mentions of RFK Jr. seeking the Libertarian Party's ballot line serve mainly to flatter Libertarian-sympathetic voters; or
  • flattery of Libertarian-sympathetic voters serves mainly to enable RFK Jr. to seek the Libertarian Pary's ballot line.

Timing in the 2024 Democratic Presidential nominating process: Joe, Hunter, Bobby, Kamala, Gavin & you-know-who by emorej in WayOfTheBern

The DNC is in a bad spot...

... and all trends point towards it getting worse by the week.

If Biden leaves too soon, it could help RFKjr

I tend to think the opposite: that liabilities such as:

  • too old
  • too Ukraine-tainted (money-making and war-losing)
  • too Fauci-tainted

... would not be regarded, by persuadable voters, as applying to Gavin, JD, or even Hillary (or Michelle, if she could be induced to re-enter the shitshow).

Single Issue Voting by risi in WayOfTheBern

[–]emorej 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

All single issues are not created equal. High-ranking ones could include:

  1. Brandishing the threat of all-out nuclear war in order to avoid admitting the failure of financial shock and awe to win an otherwise unwinnable war that was purposefully sought for many years.

  2. Covering up outlawed research enabling production and leaking/testing of biological weapons, and then completing the transition of public health regulation into mainly a system for deadly and torturously harvesting of Big Pharma profits.

  3. Secretly institutionalizing the censorship (reinforced by blocking and seizing funding) of dissenting views and of inconvenient factual information on all politically sensitive issues.

Without diminishing my appreciation for your engagement on WOTB, my hopes have been greatly weakened (although I acknowledge that every first time Presidential candidate must climb a steep learning curve). Notable concerns [!] of mine include:

A. Peter:

  • Does Peter have any track record of lighting electoral fires anywhere outside Twitter?
  • Is Twitter the place where Cornel can building momentum in public polling?

B. Cornel: seemed to flash some fundamental weaknesses in the Jimmy Dore interview, notably:

  1. Minimizing the establishment’s Fascist Censorship, which has been mobilized on behalf of Joe Biden indeed (per Jimmy) ensures that reserving the “Fascist” label for Trump is perceived by Trump-sympathizers as labelling them as Fascist enablers – and/or as morons – at a time when reaction against those precise labels is a major reason for their overlooking, or even reveling in, Trump’s political vandalism.

  2. Dismissing “RICO” prosecutions as a politically neutral “tool”, in the face of Jimmy’s topical and devastating linkage of the two Georgia State “RICO” prosecutions, of (i) Lefty organizers against Atlanta’ Cop City, alongside (ii) Trump’s interventions in vote-counting, would have merited an “F” from Professor West in any class he taught on logic, rhetoric, or anything else.

  3. Taking a “utilitarian” attitude towards Black (and other) voters (not least by acknowledging how many of them are not on-board with simply and unconditionally adding of “precious trans” to a laundry list of analogously oppressed minorities) is precisely a key part of any strategy hoping to break out from the previously tiny vote counts of Green Party Presidential nominees – especially in the face of Jimmy displaying the Green Party “Black” Caucus’s public dissent from Fauci-Biden-Hawkins Covid policies.

  4. Taking offense at Jimmy’s mentions of “your advisors” not only ignored the fact that advisory panels are a core part of every serious Presidential campaign, but seemed to telegraph a lack of the self-confident joviality that has long been one of Cornel’s calling cards.

Looking forward to learning whether Cornel is willing and able to transition (in Jimmy's words):

  • from "Black radical activist" [although Cornel is much better described as "moral conscience/model and culture integrator"],
  • to "Presidential candidate" seriously trying to achieve major impact on electoral horse races and media coverage of them.

If you were the military, and decades ago you had “embarked on a program of secret research on biological weapons” (NY Times), why would you not work to influence, finance, and hide your connection to the development of deadly viruses? ...

Judge rejects Dems’ bid to keep No Labels Party off 2024 ballot by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

[–]emorej 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

To be fair:

  • in light of the Dem establishment's disgusting scorched earth opposition to Green Party ballot access,
  • I would hate the Dem establishment even more than I do,
  • if they did not also oppose ballot access of the Oligarch-friendly No Labels schemers.

But the Dem establishment can easily anticipate perspectives like mine, so this report from Arizona:

  • might be largely performative, and
  • does not fully allay my suspicions that a majority of the Dem establishment is much less hostile to the No Labels project than they are to the (USA) Greens and (e.g.) parties like Peace & Freedom and (perhaps) Working Family.

Who benefits from the US, Russia, and Zelensky getting all those Ukrainians killed? by JimAtEOI in WayOfTheBern

Contrary to the author's implication, nothing about this war is beneficial to the vast majority of Jews.

One relevant bit of background information is that Putin has generally sustained polite and presumably productive channels of communications with Netanyahu and presumably other influential Israelis.

Any analysis of "who benefits" must start from appreciation that the Biden Administration did not get the type of war they expected. They expected:

  • Russia's economy to be crushed by financial sanctions, and/or
  • Ukraine's military to fall back into guerilla resistance in Russian-occupied territory farther West and closer to NATO supply lines, rather than fighting along a long Eastern front mainly far from NATO supply lines.

Biden has, at many times in electoral calendars, found it convenient to position his profile as more moderate than Abrams. This is evidently not one of those times, due to some combination of ideological drift, senility, etc.

It's difficult to imagine any Biden action that could provide more fuel to RFK Jr's appeal (except, perhaps, full release of documents that vindicate or exceed the worst suspicions and allegations of Deep State villainy, in 1963 and thereafter).
