Update from Joe Biden Hates Black People:

Just had a powerful conversation with @CornelWest about many things including the convo with Jimmy Dore. He makes himself more clear and he opened himself up to listen to my rendition of Jimmy’s perspective... I’ll be talking to Jimmy as well to better understand his perspective and both interviews will drop on Tuesday.

Now that I listened to the interview Jimmy Dore had with Cornel West, I’ve come to the conclusion the Green Party picked the wrong West. They picked the clueless, obtuse and incorrigible one. They should have run with Kanye. His First Lady game is stronger too.

Says the PP guy. Whew. PP guy goes on to try to draw attention to PP things Cornel+Greens haven't addressed or have not (yet) emphasized. OK, fair enough. Fair criticism I suppose, and indeed several items I care about. But I trust Dr. West, certainly to run the presidential campaign the way he wants, and to a lesser extent I trust the Greens. My PP guy, please don't chase clout by throwing unwarranted shade on Dr. West or the Greens.

The Green Party has represented the independent left for decades and has barely broken 1% of the vote in the last 20 years. It is a terminally woke and dysfunctional catastrophe.

I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 and Jill Stein in 2016. Then and now I'm kind of proud of it. Dr. Stein was proclaimed to be a Russian asset, a Putin Puppet. I guess that's not being on the side of the American media/government Russiagaters, is it? It's not even 20 years ago, huh? Oh yeah. American politics now or 10, 20, 40 years ago, is mainly brow-beating the voters with fear. That's the Dems and the Republicans. They get help from the media. But I want to vote against the interests of Raytheon, Exxon-Mobile, Citibank, Goldman-Sachs, Moderna, etc., if I can. And if that's not possible I will not vote. You can fucking vote if you're scared into it. Be adult, "responsible" about being bullied, cajoled by MicroSoftNBC and the others about it though. Sure, someone else has done the thinking, done the marketing, to convince you and to scare you. It's for you, on your behalf. Sure.

Terminally woke? Have you seen Dem-related media in the past 10 years? Or terminally online social justice warrioring? If the Greens come up with the "Green New Deal", should we assume it's got to be woke and a catastrophe? Any expectations of politics, from anyone, in the next one, five, or ten years, being anything more than scolding and virtue signalling from either the "left" or the right? Shouldn't anything beyond left or right woke mania and zero be encouraged, praised? Well PP guy? What would the ruling class, investor class types have to say, in comment, response, reaction?

I voted for Ralph Nader in 2020

You probably mean 2000, when I voted for Ralph Nader too. Same typo at Reddit :-)

@realnikohouse

Just had a powerful conversation with @CornelWest about many things including the convo with Jimmy Dore. He makes himself more clear and he opened himself up to listen to my rendition of Jimmy’s perspective while also stressing the importance of his perspective as well. Some of the truths will be uncomfortable for some to hear, but are truths nonetheless. The desire to fight for national and international class consciousness in its entirety was a consistent theme. And the conversation became real on a personal level many may not have expected but hopefully will appreciate. Hoping that those who listen to this interview truly listen.

I’ll be talking to Jimmy as well to better understand his perspective and both interviews will drop on Tuesday.

Looking forward to learning whether Cornel is willing and able to transition (in Jimmy's words):

  • from "Black radical activist" [although Cornel is much better described as "moral conscience/model and culture integrator"],
  • to "Presidential candidate" seriously trying to achieve major impact on electoral horse races and media coverage of them.

[–]SusanJ 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

With Peter Daou's hire as his new campaign manager, I think you will see a fire lit under Cornel West that we all hoped for. I'm very pleased about this new development!

[–]emorej 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

Without diminishing my appreciation for your engagement on WOTB, my hopes have been greatly weakened (although I acknowledge that every first time Presidential candidate must climb a steep learning curve). Notable concerns [!] of mine include:

A. Peter:

  • Does Peter have any track record of lighting electoral fires anywhere outside Twitter?
  • Is Twitter the place where Cornel can building momentum in public polling?

B. Cornel: seemed to flash some fundamental weaknesses in the Jimmy Dore interview, notably:

  1. Minimizing the establishment’s Fascist Censorship, which has been mobilized on behalf of Joe Biden indeed (per Jimmy) ensures that reserving the “Fascist” label for Trump is perceived by Trump-sympathizers as labelling them as Fascist enablers – and/or as morons – at a time when reaction against those precise labels is a major reason for their overlooking, or even reveling in, Trump’s political vandalism.

  2. Dismissing “RICO” prosecutions as a politically neutral “tool”, in the face of Jimmy’s topical and devastating linkage of the two Georgia State “RICO” prosecutions, of (i) Lefty organizers against Atlanta’ Cop City, alongside (ii) Trump’s interventions in vote-counting, would have merited an “F” from Professor West in any class he taught on logic, rhetoric, or anything else.

  3. Taking a “utilitarian” attitude towards Black (and other) voters (not least by acknowledging how many of them are not on-board with simply and unconditionally adding of “precious trans” to a laundry list of analogously oppressed minorities) is precisely a key part of any strategy hoping to break out from the previously tiny vote counts of Green Party Presidential nominees – especially in the face of Jimmy displaying the Green Party “Black” Caucus’s public dissent from Fauci-Biden-Hawkins Covid policies.

  4. Taking offense at Jimmy’s mentions of “your advisors” not only ignored the fact that advisory panels are a core part of every serious Presidential campaign, but seemed to telegraph a lack of the self-confident joviality that has long been one of Cornel’s calling cards.

In 2019, Daou became an advisor to the progressive congressional campaigns of Lindsey Boylan (NY-10),

Lauren Ashcraft (NY-12),

Lost

Rebecca Parson (WA-06),

and Melanie D'Arrigo (NY-03).

aaaaand lost.

In April 2023, Daou announced that he was joining the presidential campaign of Marianne Williamson as her campaign manager. He said he joined her campaign "because I've known her for years and deeply appreciate her lifelong dedication to helping people."

Nick Brana is still pissed off that Cornel West ditched his fake party. MPP has zero ballot access even though they've been around since 2016.

Meanwhile, the Green Party is going to be on the ballot in Oklahoma - not even Ralph Nader was able to do that!

For the record, Cornel West dumped the People's Party because Nick Brana created an online donation form that was going to get Cornel into serious trouble with the FEC. Some of us volunteers spotted it and that's when Chris Hedges stepped in and got Cornel to switch.

PP is also posting straight out lies about the Green Party. As someone said in the replies, "it's jealous ex-boyfriend energy."

On the issues, the campaign is still working on a platform, so that's one of Nick's lies.

On the issues, the campaign is still working on a platform, so that's one of Nick's lies.

The fact that it's been months since he switched and they simply didn't copy and paste this platform

  • Restore free speech
  • Curb Inflation
  • Hand-counted paper ballots
  • End mass surveillance
  • Restore press freedoms
  • Restore net neutrality
  • Break up Big Tech
  • Support veterans
  • Stop CBDCs
  • Regulate AI
  • Fix infrastructure
  • Term limits in Congress
  • Ban corporate lobbying

tells me that his campaign is going nowhere.

RBN has said that Dr. Cornel West's campaign officially started at the beginning of the month. This month.

[–]captainramen🇺🇸🛠️ MAGA Communist 🛠️🇺🇸[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So what? He announced it in June. You would think that the 2 and a half month gap between announcing and officially running would be more than enough time to copy and paste a platform popular with broad swaths of the American people. OTOH he took the time to put saVinG tHe pLaneT on his platform, an issue that Americans do not give a fuck about.

[–]rundown9 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I don't work for the campaign, so I can't actually speak to that. I do know they have some great people working on ballot access (including people who are out in the field, training people and gathering signatures themselves).

I jumped to conclusions about both Cornel West and the Green Party long time ago, when they made it clear they had no scruples to support the course and the cause and the prescripts of Fauci and Gates and Pfizer and DARPA and the CIA.

This post only confirms I made the right jump.

Is there a People’s Party expert active on this sub? Was this tweet likely conceived mainly by Nick Brana? Powerful reckoning.

No need for hopium that the same grassroots that had themselves fooled and abused before, will turn out to be able to roll back and reverse what the leadership they voted in themselves has apparently schemed, concocted and cemented already. Would be a remarkable first, if they can pull that off, but I’m not seeing it happen. According to Whitney Webb the intelligence agency world had 6 million people on the payroll at the turn of the century already. Not too difficult to dispatch a portion (or “squad”) of those as active Green Party members. Buh bye effective opposition.

Welp.

That infiltrate and destroy from within shit works really well, doesn't it?

The only REAL question left to ask is this: WHY would CW agree to this and change his speech to match?

There is, I suspect, where the final blackpill on politics and voting in the US awaits those promoting his campaign...

Next? We done been tryin to TELL Y'ALL for years now: walk away entirely and create local systems outside the govt

[–]Maniak🥃😾 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Next? We done been tryin to TELL Y'ALL for years now: walk away entirely and create local systems outside the govt

And stop bothering with this entirely manipulated and controlled "electoral" system in which voters have no say...

Between Bernie, RFK and this now, it should be clear to anybody willing to see that none of the approaches based on US elections has ever had any chance of working. It's all controlled, all manufactured hope to keep the people tied to a system designed to bring them down then kick them until they stop generating value for the owner class, at which point they can just fuck off and die.

You can't take over the democratic party from within, you can't even take over the fucking green party from within. And the republican party is obviously not any better. Every single person who tried ended up, more or less quickly, being manipulated into obedience serving the owners they were there to fight against.

Stop

Voting

For

Democrats

Republicans

Or anybody propping any of them up, which is sadly what West is doing now.

WHY would CW agree to this and change his speech to match?

Because he's an old man and this is a vanity campaign for him. See, he was never going to win. That's OK. The point was that he would leverage his celebrity to help build a party of the working class that would become decisive in future elections.

[–]kingsmegLiberté, égalité, fraternité 8 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 0 fun9 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Because he's an old man and this is a vanity campaign for him.

He's trading his platform for ballot access. He doesn't have the resources to mount an entire campaign from scratch, and ballot access is an onerous procedure thanks to the machinations of the 2 parties. Signing on with the Greens gives him that access, at the price of abandoning any talk of anything meaningful.

Because the Greens are controlled opposition, same as all the others. If they weren't, they would be destroyed by the FBI and their COINTELPRO basket of tricks.

[–]sdl5 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (29 children)

It's like watching an accelerated version of what would have happened with Bernie if he had run as a third-party candidate.

Nope, wouldn't have worked either, he'd also have rolled over just like West is doing.

At least West was nice enough to show it very clearly, and very early on. It's still more than a year before the election and the only two anti-establishment candidates have already Bernied out...

[–]kingsmegLiberté, égalité, fraternité 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (26 children)

Nope, wouldn't have worked either, he'd also have rolled over just like West is doing.

It is instructive to consider the example of those who don't roll over when told. RFK's father, for instance. Trump, now facing +200 years in prison unless he wins, which is impossible in a rigged system. And Trump actually did roll over 2017-21, but not enough. He bent over and took it up the ass for them, but he didn't say thank you and ask for seconds.

[–]Maniak🥃😾 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (25 children)

He dared to tweet, by himself, rather than let other corrupt lying cunts more PR-oriented do it for him.

That was the issue. The same Trump presidency without the tweets, democrats would have been happy to campaign for him in 2024. On principle at least. Because of the color (not the orange, the other), they'd still have been obligated to pretend that they don't actually love everything he's done, because he's basically just been an Orange Obama.

Cornel began the campaign by talking about how he was a populist, how he was going to go to Trump country and reach out to the white working class. He and Laura Ingraham talked about how much they have in common, and about uniting left and right populists on Fox. All of that went out the window when the Green Party took over.

Yup, he's now shitting all over Trump supporters just like any regular democrat, as if that was a winning strategy...

Where has the class war gone exactly? The joining of forces along economic lines? Did a rainbow flag cover that part of the campaign message and nobody has been willing to look under it?

[–]SusanJ 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (9 children)

He's not shitting over Trump supporters though. He very clearly distinguishes things he doesn't like about Trump from Trump's supporters.

This is another one of Nick's lies. Cornel is absolutely going to talk to Trump supporters. As he said, many of them voted for Bernie. The Green Party is absolutely not opposed to winning over these voters.

Cornel absolutely talks about class. It's always part of his talk. He's not going to stop talking about white supremacy though and he really shouldn't. It comes from his Christian background, which he lives better than most Christians. I'm an atheist btw, so I don't tend to quote The Bible, but this seems to be the passage that Cornel is modeling. It's the way he will connect with Trump voters and religious people, even as he says that Trans people should have rights.

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

The point that was made to him on RBN, and that he keeps ignoring/dismissing, is that Trump supporters take him shitting all over Trump as his calling them fucktards for supporting him, especially when what he's (rightly) accusing Trump of also applies to Biden whom he refuses to call out for what he is.

He's not saying "hey you, if you're a Trump voter you're a fucking moron". He's saying, not in those words obviously, "Trump is SO dangerous and evil that you'd need to be a fucking moron to support him". Or more accurately, what he's saying is heard this way, and it's an absolutely appropriate and sensible way to understand his words. I'm no Trump supporter and that's what even I hear when he talks about Trump. What boggles my mind is why he doesn't seem to compute this even though he's orders of magnitude smarter than I am. Major disconnect.

To be clear, I'm fine with him shitting on Trump. Trump is a big sack of shit just like all the others. I'm not fine with him pretending that Biden and the democrats are in any way better when they've been the ones causing the hurt and pain ever since they got back 'in control', way beyond what Trump could have ever dreamed (dreamt?) of doing, since they got back in power.

There's a major disconnect, a major partisan disconnect that's running defense for the democratic party, and it's no wonder that it's being heard in the way that it is. Whomever is advising him to follow this line of campaigning is either incompetent or ill-intentioned, and that's me trying very hard to be kind to West by assuming that he's been getting extremely bad advice.

He does talk about class yes, then he talks about how those class issues are actually not bigger than the identity issues he also talks about. That's bullshit and it's a messaging choice. As to his devout religious side, that's not a strength, it's a vulnerability, as it always is. He's not ever going to connect with Trump voters and red-oriented religious people by shitting on their prophet while running cover for the equivalent evil on the other side.

He's not one of the psychopathic religious leaders. He's one of the good ones. He uses his religious side to reinforce his innate goodness and I've never once heard him try to use it to push anything onto others. He could be using it as the tool it is to control and manipulate others, but that's not him, and this is absolutely to his credit. It also means that he won't gain anything from it. Trump supporters are not going to listen to him while they see him going on about how Trump is Evil™️ while Biden is a GoodPerson™️, religion or not.

His campaign messaging as of right now is a democrat-lite messaging. That's not going to work.

Yeah, the endless parade of people who should fucking know better but end up endorsing, doing and enforcing absolutely horrendous things doesn't seem to be ending...

Conditioning works on all types of people and to your point, conditioned smart people may be the worst ones because of what they're able to do with it, especially when compared to what they would be able to do about it if they weren't conditioned to just... follow that particular flow.

Still a fucking shame to see.

[–]SusanJ 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I guess I disagree about the democrat-lite thing. I don't think I've ever heard him say that Biden is a good person. As Cornel said in the interview, "some people will listen and some won't." He's reaching out anyway.

[–]Maniak🥃😾 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's a perception thing. He's shitting on Trump, which is absolutely fair, but he's at the same time refusing to call out Biden in the same way even when presented with facts about how Biden has been even worse than Trump. Hell, Biden has been worse than Trump his entire public life. If Trump is a fascist, what is Biden exactly? Why is it so hard to say it? Because it could piss off democrats? Then why is it so easy to do it to republicans?

West has been making the point that the democratic party is better than its red self, which is an issue in and of itself, but the imbalance between his criticism of the red part of the duopoly while actively refusing to apply the same... let's call them 'values' to the blue side is a major messaging error. That's not me doing whataboutism because both sides are the same thing. That's me pointing out that both sides are part of the same whole. You're either against the whole thing or you're just part of the theater. West is entirely fucking up that part.

People's partisanship has already been wound up to the max. If he wants to go after Trump, he'd better be ready to hold the blue team to the same standards if he wants to reach the red voters.

That's not at all what he's doing. Even ignoring all his dismissals of major issues that have been affecting regular people all over, caused by the blue team, the blatant imbalance between how he treats both parties is enough to guarantee that he's not going to reach the people he says he wants to reach.

Either he takes a stand against the entire duopoly or he plays pattycake with both sides. But going hardcore anti-red while playing pattycake with the blue side... that's running a democrat-lite campaign. It's infuriating to the red-minded people and it's disheartening to the anti-establishment people.

This messaging is horrendously misguided, not to mention tone-deaf. It keeps being pointed out to him, RBN did it, Sabby did it, Jimmy tried to do it, and yet it somehow doesn't seem to get through even just a little.

He's basically doing an RFK impression right now, and I'm fucking disheartened to see it.

The Hammer

Shitlibs have discovered and clipped a years old video where I emotionally opened up about losing my child and marriage because of my work in activism.

This was one of the many massive blows I have taken to my life for the work I have put in.

There still seems to be a lot of confusion on the Left as to what the working class actually is, why they are vitally important, and why building a mass movement around them is the only way out of the mess we're in.

As soon as he joined the green party I knew where this was headed. You cannot produce wealth without transforming the environment in some way. Which is what the working class does. Therefore any party centered around protecting the environment from this transformation is going to be anti working class.

If I thought the Greens were in any way interested in protecting the environment, I might still support them. But they aren't. At all. See: Germany. Any place the Greens have ever held power of any sort, in fact.

I don't think it's confusion so much as visceral distaste. Whenever supposedly "real" leftists pop up they quickly demonstrate they're completely in hock to the PMC party that is today's Democrats; they love workers only in the abstract, not real people who may be gauche enough to actually perspire outside a hot yoga studio.

The working class is supposed to be the left. Or at least the main if not only focus of the entire thing.

But words don't mean anything anymore in any domain nowadays so... yeah, might as well start calling leftists right-winger corporate whores, like democrats are, since it's all that anybody seems to be willing to do.

They're not left or right, they're bottom feeders.

They threw out half of the populist platform that we had created when he switched to the Green Party, especially policies with left-right support like

Restore free speech

Curb Inflation

Hand-counted paper ballots

End mass surveillance

Restore press freedoms

Restore net neutrality

Break up Big Tech

Support veterans

Stop CBDCs

Regulate AI

Fix infrastructure

Term limits in Congress

Ban corporate lobbying

Why would you remove these policies from your platform? Will any of the podcasts supporting Cornel West admit and confront this?

Don't take Nick's word for anything. The campaign is still refining the platform. This is what they have so far, I think it's pretty good. Starting with demilitarization.

Policies

Dismantling the Empire

Vastly cutting back on military spending, dissolving non-defensive security alliances, including NATO and AUKUS, dismantling the global network of over 800 military bases and severing the link between U.S. foreign policy and corporate profits to respect national sovereignty and the principle of self-determination for people. The USA should be a decent and dignified nation among nations rather than an imperial power dominating every corner of the globe. Withdrawing foreign aid to Egypt, Israel, and any other countries violating the human rights of subjugated peoples. Increasing humanitarian aid to poor and vulnerable peoples around the world. Enabling international peace by highlighting ecological sustainability, abolishing nuclear weapons, and promoting diplomatic processes.

Unleashing Democracy

Massive investments in satisfying the social needs of everyday people. Medicare for all including humane mental healthcare, decriminalization of drugs, and creation of humane rehabilitation sites. Decent housing for all, quality education for all, free college tuition for all, and jobs with living wages for all. Abolishing poverty and houselessness. Targeting the vicious legacy of white supremacy by ending mass incarceration, demilitarizing policing (abolishing Cop-Cities), and promoting reparations for past unjust treatment of Black people. Prioritizing the empowerment of indigenous peoples. Protecting the reproductive rights of women and ending all forms of patriarchy. Securing the rights of LGBTQ+ and Trans-Peoples. Treating every migrant and asylum seeker with dignity and implementing fundamental changes in immigration policies. Public financing of elections with ranked-choice voting, eliminating the Electoral College and a national holiday for voting. Democratizing unaccountable monopolies and oligopolies with workers' control.

Saving The Planet

Fighting back against the escalating ecological catastrophe by targeting the corporate greed of fossil fuel companies and resurrecting the Green New Deal. Shifting from extraction and emission to regenerative and renewable energy. Eliminating the environmental racism that disproportionately damages the life chances of poor people, especially poor people of color here and abroad. The future of life on this planet depends on this fundamental shift!

I'm glad you chimed in. I and others consider you the resident Green Party expert and were hoping you'd give us your take on this. My regard for Dr. West has always been high, and my first take-away from this piece was disappointment.

I'm also glad you commented on this post at the other WotB site.

Thanks for you kind words:) I do wish a few more Greens would join our subs. Just to keep everyone in the know. There's a lot of stuff on Twitter and Facebook (gah!).

I do think that Dr. West needs to work on getting his actual message out a little better. But that's always the problem with third parties - we get very little media. He's going on as many shows as possible. I think the MSNBC apperance yesterday was good, it was clear to me that he's no fan of the Democrats.

Here's the short (10 minutes) interview with Ari Melber:

What's most disappointing is that everyone knows he's brilliant, and completely intractable when he wants to be. It can't be dismissed as an error or a lack of foresight or weakness.

These are things he doesn't want to run on.

I've had so much respect for him for so long. The hopium-filled balloon takes another pin.
