Who gets to stay and who has to go has been the sick little game we’ve all been playing, like we’re trapped in an episode of the Twilight Zone and are one wrong opinion away from being wished into the cornfield. [that episode scared the sh*t out of me as a kid]

The unholy alliance of screeching, infantile, overly sensitive cry bullies on social media and the major institutions that bowed to them has been spreading like a toxic fungus on college campuses and throughout American culture for far too long.

But guess what, kids? The worm finally turned, and now, all of that power you held in the palms of your hands can be used against you.

I agree with the author up to this point, but then:

It comes down to judgment, critical thinking, and a commitment to the truth. Everyone must be able to say that there is no justification for what Hamas did on October 7. Stop there.

After that, then the conversation can begin about what Israel should do about it and whether or not the US should involve itself in what looks like a world war.

You don't have to and shouldn't argue that Hamas was justified, but the conversation can't even begin until the well-documented atrocities perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinians over decades are given equal attention and weight. While it's unquestionably convenient to treat October 7th as the start of history (we've seen this movie before), it's also glaringly dishonest and the rest of the world ain't buying it.

This is an argument I might not agree with, ultimately, but I'd be willing to listen to it. What I am completely unwilling to listen to is not merely the justification but the celebration of butchery.

I'm not even particularly pro-Israel, but when people I often listened to, and even personally liked, say things like this, my first thought is: I should buy more bullets. I already knew that this is what "decolonization" looks like; I just didn't know so many Americans would support it in practice. And I'm not the only one who noticed. Attacking America as an "illegitimate colonial empire" is hardly an unknown talking point on the left, and now we can clearly see what leftists think should be done to "colonizers." At least we have the 2nd Amendment, unlike the dead Israelis.

October 7th isn't the start of history, but it may be the end of any trust that had been building between the MAGA movement and the "actual left."

I don't think there should be any celebration of butchery, regardless of the perpetrators and victims. The extremists on the left praising what Hamas did are no better than the extremists on the right saying Israel should lay waste to Palestine and everyone in it. Are either of those majority opinions? I would guess that as usual it's the loudmouths in the minority screaming their unending hatred for the other side and that most people just want to see an end to the killing and a solution that meets the needs of both sides.

I don’t think students should have been doxxed. I don’t think they should be banned off of social media or that they should face any legal trouble for their views, not in this country, that’s for sure.

Both are wrong, to be sure.

I would be fine with mutual disarmament, but I'm not fine with letting only these people off the hook when they show absolutely no signs of understanding or repentance. They just want to be the exception to the censorship and financial and social penalties they still want to impose on everyone else. That's the part that's unacceptable.

Be careful what you wish for, because YOU might just get it.

Yep. Poor Glenn's been shouting himself hoarse for years. No one listened.
