Of course you can sell a politician’s brand to the media that you got all captured and censored and controlled like hell, and to your own goddarn proprietary owned and doctored voting 🗳️ machines, but you’re still gonna have problems, cause these machines won’t be able to go out and buy your beer brand.

Since 2020 we are hearing Trump won. It seems Bud Light has now proven it.

Both hogwarts legacy boycott failing epically and bud light's boycott working will show to the rainbows what normal people really think of trans people.

As someone who enjoys a good beer on the weekends, Bud Light was always the champion of garbage beers. It's sad that it took a cultural issue to bring it down as opposed to the quality of the product itself. By that measure it should've been losing more money a long time ago.

I've found Milwaukee's Best to be a fine beer... for killing slugs. You leave some out in a shallow dish, the slugs are attracted, and they drown blissfully.

Thankfully they don't seem to be around where I live although they used to years ago. Salt usually does the trick from what I remember.

You know...

I'm sitting here pondering how The Onion stays in business...

More and more stories come out with headlines I could swear I saw there first.

Can reality stop plagiarizing please?

What astonishes me is how useless all their new ads are.

Men grunting. People walking through screen doors. Watermelon in windstorms. What?

    Hot.

    Chicks.

    In.

    Bikinis.

    This isn't rocket science.

I actually think they realized they can't get the conservative people anymore and are fully embracing rainbow folk now in the hopes those people embrace their product.

You know, the <3%. <15% if we count queer.

How about an ad that offers me a rational, factual reason that their product is worth buying?

    [–]CaelianPost No Toasties 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Good products don't need adverts. Personal recommendations are enough. Marketing 101 teaches you that the worse the product, the more you have to spend marketing it. There's a terrific 1965 movie that also teaches this, but I have not been able to find it on DVD. The ad industry probably bought the rights for a few pounds Sterling so they could suppress it. I won't name it, since the fact that it's really about marketing is a spoiler.

Edit: SaidIt doesn't seem to like Reddit's spoiler tags.

Dave Barry has some excellent columns on the subject of beer commercials:

Shake Hands and Come Out Drinking (1986)

    THE BEER FACTS (1992)

I particularly like the Miller Time description in "Shake Hands":

I do know that in one beer commercial -- I think this is for Miller (although it could be for Budweiser, which is also a very patriotic beer) -- the burly men build a house. You see them all getting together and pushing up a brand-new wall. Me, I worry some, about a house built by men drinking beer. In my experience, you run into trouble when you ask a group of beer-drinking men to perform any task more complex than remembering not to light the filter ends of cigarettes.

For example: In my younger days, whenever anybody in my circle of friends wanted to move, he'd get the rest of us to help, and, as an inducement, he'd buy a couple of cases of beer. This almost always produced unfortunate results, such as the time that we were trying to move Dick (The Wretch) Curry from a horrible fourth-floor walk-up apartment in Manhattan's Lower East Side to another horrible fourth-floor walk-up apartment in Manhattan's Lower East Side, and we hit upon the labor-saving concept of, instead of carrying The Wretch's possessions manually down the stairs, simply dropping them out the window, down onto the street, where The Wretch was racing around, gathering up the broken pieces of his life and shrieking at us to stop helping him move, his emotions reaching a fever pitch when his bed, which had been swinging wildly from a rope, entered the apartment two floors below his through what had seconds earlier been a window.

This is the kind of thinking you get with beer. So I figure what happens, in the beer commercial where the burly men are building the house, is they push the wall up so it's vertical, and then, after the camera stops filming them, they just keep pushing, and the wall crashes down on the other side, possibly onto somebody's pickup truck. And then they all shake hands.

The other column has the hot chicks in bikinis :-)

Modelo is distributed, not owned by Anheuser-Busch's.

This will incentivize more people to get local beers however.

    Good point.

This threat that USAmericans are hurting workers by boycotting is bullshit though, they're a multibillion dollar company, they can afford to keep paying their workers, or transfer them to their other brands that are performing better than Bud Light.

We'll see when they announce earnings, how much of a real hit they take. Considering that BUD is carrying 80 billion dollars in debt, they can't take much of a hit without being in danger of going BK. They took out that debt when rates were near 0% and new debt is pushing 7%. It remains to be seen if CRE blows up first or one of these conglomerates that borrowed cheap to buy out everything they could.

Peet's coffee is good IMO. The company was started by a Nederlandisher who couldn't stand American coffee. Seattle's Best is also good IMO, and less expensive than Peet's.

The coffee in those cans at the grocery store is referred to in the trade as "dirt in a can" :-)

You can mail-order Peet's. They send it UPS Ground :-)

The funny bit is that Alissa Heinerscheid was right when she said it's a fratty beer. And that video, where she wants to re-brand to attract who? Anyone who likes beer for any reason other than a cheap buzz, is drinking far better stuff. And even the local craft beers are not so expensive any more. Hell the local grocer carries them now. This will go down in history as the greatest marketing blunder ever.

    [–]captainramen🇺🇸🛠️ MAGA Communist 🛠️🇺🇸 6 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

It's not a fratty beer, it's primarily a working class beer. After all, the people who come out of the Greek system grow up to be libtard midwits for the most part.

No matter what happens the working class will not become beer snobs.

    [–]Maniak🥃😾 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (3 children)

Can you even get a buzz from this?

    It's a fratty something, that's for sure.

Goes to show that the whole population getting dumber thing isn't limited to the peasantry. The owner class is getting dumber by the minute as well (and the wannabe-owner-class even more so... *cough* spez *cough*)

Killing your own brand just to make a point, and that point is... er... something that nobody even knows or cares about?

Ex Bud Light drinker here. Yes you can get a buzz. The brilliance of Bud Light is that a) it's remarkably consistent, like fast food and b) you don't need to drink water with it to avoid the hangover the next day.

They can go work for Coors or Miller.

As long as the company fails to acknowledge or address the concerns, it is anticipated that the boycotts will persist.

I don't think that will even work. BUD burned that bridge. I doubt anyone is going back now. Now, it's about sending a message to all the other companies embracing DEI. Cross the line and lose 30% of your market to a competitor. With the debt load these companies are carrying, they can go BK.

Yeah, people don't care if you stay within the 30% or so in the middle; no sane person wants to think about a corporation's politics. Start veering into the 35% on either side and you'd better be absolutely certain that's where you want to go, and stay, forever.

I heard going the opposite side does get you some doug.

The issue is less of taking one side, but your product was clearly one side and now you try to switch to the other.

I think switching to the other side if the other side isn't rainbow does get you more sales though. Numerically speaking.
