So not a "suspect" but a "perpetrator." We all know he did it and there's plenty of evidence. I get it, he has to have his day in court, but we don't have to pretend there's even the slightest doubt he's guilty.

This is an example of a case that should be fast-tracked to death row. There's video and eye-witness evidence so his trial is really a formality record all the evidence and determine a sentence. IMO, that sentence should be death in all cases like this, and that penalty should have a reasonable time frame for appeals based on the heinous nature. I don't care about his mental state or his upbringing. I don't care he doesn't like cops. This is a mad dog situation and we need to dispose of people like this, not coddle them for life sentences or drag out court cases for years.

Social Media is absolutely left leaning. We're here because of that fact.

And yes, after 2016, the divisiveness in this country amped up to 11. "RED or BLUE! You must choose." I was always left of center until then. Woke up one day and found myself at the very least right of center, which, according to most lefties (or at least the ones who hadn't been called out), was "right wing." I've rarely had a conversation since with any friends or family who drank the blue kool-aid, that didn't end with them basically calling me a Nazi. It's a stereotype for a reason. In contrast, I've yet to be called a libtard by a Trump supporter, even though I didn't vote for him and likely won't this election either.

From my perspective, it wasn't Conservatives who won RvW, it was Democrats who lost it. They are supposedly the party of women, yet they have failed to codify RvW for 30 years. Even when they had a supermajority and even with a black, woman VP who was a fucking lawyer herself. Nothing. They failed. I disagree with overturning of RvW (which is really about medical privacy and less about abortion), but I also disagree with women who think it should be on-demand or joke about it like it's nothing. It's a last resort and they could easily take it out of the hands of the state by using sensible birth control (or getting on the fast-track for a male, oral solution for birth control).

Nobody wants a dictatorship, but nobody wants this ride or die partisanship either. I'm sick of the two-party system period, and I can't tell who fights that more, red or blue, but we need a third option.

Marxist language itself is used to curry favour, even if it contains no actual Marxism.

Well that's a good point and it's similar to what liberals do with leftist language in general. like people like Pelosi or Clinton legitimately believe they are "on the left" because they talk about invading and occupying Afghanistan in the context of putting girls in school.

At the same time you get people enforcing a gender hierarchy like "that girl is a boy because she likes to fix cars." While calling that leftist or using Marxist language as you say. No that shit is extremely hierarchical and therefore right wing.

It doesn't help that they all constantly self identify as leftist Marxist etc so everyone who sees this just points at them and says "see the left is like this."

For some reason i don't see this inverted self labelling happen on the right except recently in the context of populism. Populists are now claiming to be "right wing" and are being labeled as such by the media but populism is by definition left wing. It also happens a bit with libertarians who sort of horse shoe around to almost advocating for communism but with property rights.

Richard Medhurst: Dear American Students... by Maniak in WayOfTheBern

[–]Maniak[S,M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

I want to directly address all the students who are protesting for Gaza and have set up encampments from Columbia to the Sorbonne.

Right now, we have an opportunity to define history; to be remembered as a generation of resistance.

The eyes of the whole world are upon you.

Your protests have ignited a fire that has spread to Canada, to France, to Britain and beyond. These are the largest student protests in American history since the Vietnam War, the most politically charged in France since 1968.

We, as a generation, are saying to the world that Israel, Britain and America are wrong and we will not be part of their genocide against Arabs and Palestinians.

We demand that these universities, many of which are complicit, divest immediately and unconditionally.

And they will try to tell you that the protests are "insensitive". They will claim that "you don't understand the issue." Zionists will accuse you of being racist and that of which they are guilty. For we all know, every Zionist accusation is a confession.

You see, colonizers will come up with one million and one reasons to defend their racist occupation, and why they think that the land they stole belongs to them.

Right now, they are scared out of their wits because in order for Zionism and American imperialism to work, they need soft power. They require a good public image. And right now, we are interrupting their brunch by drawing attention to their crimes.

And no, it's not going to be business as usual.

These protests are effective, they are morally justified and they are necessary. They are truly democratic in their nature. And that is precisely why the police are attacking you.

The same military industrial complex that bombs Gaza arms the police that attacks students on campus; the same police that beat up students on campus, train with Israeli forces. The same knee that was on Khairi Hannoun's neck was on George Floyd's neck, and is now pressed upon Gaza's neck.

Understand that we are engaging in resistance against imperialism, against Zionism and against white supremacy.

While the Israelis incur losses on the battlefield, this is another theatre of war where they must be confronted and defeated: in the media, in civil society, in academia, in people's hearts and minds.

Zionism must be exposed and we must all do our bit. People in Palestine are counting on you. Their very lives depend upon it.

Unchecked, the imperialists plan to roll into Rafah, and they're already building a pier in Gaza under the pretext of "humanitarian aid" to establish a military foothold and steal resources.

Every second that goes by, someone is buried under the rubble alive in Gaza, gasping for air, or in pain being starved to death. This is precisely why we must never give in.

People across the entire Arab world all see what you're doing and they are proud of you.

This is a solidarity that transcends race, religion and politics. It is humanity at its best, in its purest and most vibrant form.

Remember to always stay focused on the crimes of the occupation. Always, no matter what! Never give in to agitators, never allow racists among your ranks. Remember the FBI will try to infiltrate you as they did to other movements and cause infighting or try to make you look bad.

The more you continue, the more people you inspire to do the same across other campuses around the world.

Occupy the lawns, occupy the classrooms, occupy the administrative buildings, the courtyards, occupy the entire damn university!

How dare they tell you that this is wrong while they occupy Palestine and Syria and butcher its people.

You're bringing drums to the protest? Drum harder! You're screaming at the protest? Scream harder! You brought a friend with you today? Bring 10 tomorrow!

You're now on the front lines.

None of us are free until Palestine is free.

When I was a youngin the penalties were significant. I knew a lot of people fucked over with drug charges. You'd lose your job, apartment, and if you had enough weight (and I don't even mean anything crazy) the cops would try for civil forfeiture of your stuff.

It was a bit nerve wracking, especially for something that advertises its users far and wide with the smell.

Now a days even in illegal states it doesn't even really matter.

It's better for it to be legal and to use the black market anyways.

[–]weavilsatemyface 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

the Bradley ... is superior to anything else on the battlefield in Ukraine

I'm not saying this to downplay the bravery and skill of the two Bradley teams that took on and defeated the T90M, but they were only able to do so because they caught the tank at close range in a village where their maneuverability and the available cover prevented the tank from hitting them. Had the tank caught them in an open field at longer range, the T90M's main gun would have destroyed the pair of them in two shots. The Bradley is a good Infantry Fighting Vehicle, but they don't have a main battle tank's armour and a T90M would have eaten them for breakfast out in the open.

According to people who compare these sorts of things, the Russian BM-3 IFV is "clearly better" than the Bradley -- lower profile, lighter, faster, more maneuverable, with better weapons. Perhaps the only reason we haven't seen more of them is that with slightly less armour than the Bradley they are more vulnerable to drones. In a one-on-one shootout between a BMP-3 and the Bradley, most people expect the BMP-3 to win.

The Bradley comes with two TOW missiles, but because they are wire-guided it has to come to an almost full stop to fire them, not what you want to do if the tank you are firing at has you in its sights. The BMP-3 has only a single ATGM pre-loaded but it can fire it from full speed and reload from inside the vehicle for a second shot.

The U.S. has told Ukraine to keep the Abrams off the front lines, too.

Why on earth have Abrams then, if you can't actually fight a war with them? Are they for show, like the British Challenger? Only good for slaughtering Iraqi insurgents armed with AK-47s and Afghani goat herders armed with sticks?

The Ukrainian soldiers have been suicidally brave, Russia has been casualty-adverse. If Putin was Stalin, he would have declared a war, not just a special military operation, and sent in two million conscripts and Kiev would have fallen in six months. But Putin started the SMO with career soldiers, not conscripts, and they were outnumbered at least two to one, and still Russia has won every major fight with the NATO-armed, NATO-trained, NATO-supported second biggest army in Europe.

As far as adapting, there have been countermeasures, and then counter-counter-measures

Right. But Russia is adapting faster, and better, while NATO weapons and tactics have been failing badly.

Russia has taken about a fifth or more of Ukraine, not including Crimea, with relatively low casualties considering the nature of high-intensity combat in the 21st century. They have smashed something like the first three, or four, mobilized Ukrainian armies, while only needing to rotate their own once so far. They have gained full air superiority. Ukraine has been unable recapture any significant territory, they have only taken back territory Russia voluntarily withdrew from (Russia withdraw from the Kiev region as a good faith gesture for the peace talks in Turkey; they withdrew from Kherson when it became clear they were over-extended (captured too much ground too quickly).

This withdrawal so surprised Ukraine that they thought it was a trap. Zelensky said “It’s important to understand: no one leaves any place just like that” but the Russians did exactly that. The Ukrainians went against a light screening force of national guardsmen and LNR militia, walked into Kherson almost unopposed, and failed to inflict heavy losses on either Russian men or matériel.

Compared to the Ukrainian Army of 2014, which fled Mariupol without a fight when challenged by the half-trained Donbas militia, and only took the city back when Putin pressured the militia to withdraw from the city -- a strategic blunder which many people in the Donbas still consider to be a betrayal -- the modern Ukrainian forces have been brave and tough but even with a two-to-one advantage at the start of the war they never stood a chance.

Communist college protests have achieved praise of North Korea levels by xoenix in TumblrInAction

Communism eliminates private property ownership in an attempt to eliminate greed. Greed isn't great, but it is understandable. I can understand the motivation of someone who wants to haggle a better price out of something. If greed isn't driving someone, then power and narcissism will. I cannot fathom another person's narcissism. Nobody will be able to trust anybody about anything.

People who support communism need to support communism. One gets more than enough criticism of "capitalism" from the communist manifesto. But if you want to sell me on the idea of no property ownership, then you need to tell me what the positives are of communism and how it could work. Endless demagoguery about globalist corporatism isn't an argument.

Yeah, tons of national remodeling, roofing and siding, highway work, bridge builders, and the like come from Texas.

I never heard that term before, but I was thinking it must be nice for all the workers to spend a significant amount of their time just traveling to get anywhere in such pretty country. We stayed in one of the nicest hotels I've ever been in and a significant portion of the vehicles there were company trucks presumably traveling to job sites.

And they'll continue to lie about trying to minimize harm to civilians while outright slaughtering them and their Western apologists will continue to perpetuate the lie. It really is an astounding display, they've all gotten away with this sort of straight-up propaganda for a long time because it was outside the view of the general public, but this time it's all playing out on everyone's social media and all they can say is 'don't believe your lying eyes'.

Well, the fact remains that modern gay identity appeared at around the same time as modern industrial capitalism and urbanization, in contrast to a more rural, agrarian way of life. And it was the same transformation of work and family that allowed women to live independently, as opposed to being bound to the family by childbearing and child-rearing responsibilities.

And, of course, capitalism created the smartphones that, in turn, created (or warped) the minds of Gen Z. I don't see too many of them wanting to go live off-grid in the wilderness. That would be too scary.

You've raises thought-provoking points about the intersection of spirituality, ethics, and societal values. While spirituality often encourages individuals to seek subjective truth, it's essential for religion to instill the understanding that ethics aren't solely subjective; there are objective standards of good and evil. This forms the foundation of a cohesive society. The contrast between libertarianism and authoritarianism in promoting societal values is intriguing, highlighting the significance of organic religious communities in shaping a nation's moral fabric. https://app.roll20.net/users/12766856/payflclerk-com , https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/payflclerk.com.portal/vizzes

As such, genderwoo will be connected because trans people truly believe the second communism is installed the transformation will be fully complete and they will become a literal anime girl- but then, the incel believes communism will give them a girlfriend, the bigot believes the group they hate will be exterminated, etc.

Stories like these really get at me. It's like those Dateline episodes when the woman is a massively disordered whore, but gets painted in the light of this mysterious, god-fearing, loving mother by her fat box wine drinking friends. The ex-dude just wants to be left alone but gets dragged into a lengthy trial because he texted her to go hang herself 8 years ago after being cheated on for the third time that year and lost his cool. Goes to jail on nothing but circumstantial evidence, because there is no law against keeping a feeling based retard from throwing your life away. Sure, this could be reversed gender wise, but I can't relate, and it's the women that act this way more often than not, like it or not.

Can you imagine how fucking helpless and pissed you'd be?

I hope this guy never gets tried again. This is good news.
