Reducing chances of getting the virus and reducing the effects of the virus were the goals, which were met in many countries. But there's the problem- you seem to think this is a bad thing to them. It's not, it's EXACTLY what these modern activists want.

Modern activists are the ones who saw acceptance of their minority and came to the realization that if their group is accepted in society, then the gravy train is over. They have to quit protesting and fighting and go get real jobs and be completely normal, boring, ordinary adults...and that makes them sick.

So, the only thing for them is to keep pushing the line further and further back, ESPECIALLY if it sets their group back 100 years, so that they can continue to fight and strive for equality and they'll never have to grow up and can continue crying and grifting people because of how they're so oppressed so they need handouts from people- not for their group, but to them, personally.
