[–]hyunnahh[S] 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And your sources?

I did some digging around yet I cannot find a single source saying that the "asexual spectrum" was coined in 1869, it was JUST the term "monosexual". This doesn't prove anything about the "ace spectrum" at all. You literally also said that "demisexual" was created in the early 2000s, which I found out was most likely in 2003 and even then it wasn't "demi" but "semisexuality". By this time the internet has already been invented, albeit not as efficient as it is now. The term, "demisexuality" was eventually coined on an online forum in 2006. Not tumblr but it's still an online forum, much like tumblr is now.

If you want to prove the existence and validity of demisexuality and the asexual spectrum then I suggest you try harder than giving one-liner replies and/or running away from discussions.

Because " Has anyone here identified as demisexual before? (I have lol)" I have a feeling my long paragraph may have hit home.

I identified as "demisexual" because I was just like almost everyone else, who preferred to get to know someone before experiencing genuine attraction towards them, but was swayed by "demisexual" as a label. Your long paragraphs has often digressed from the topic at hand, as has been similarly stated by other commentators on this sub, and has certainly not have influenced my sexual orientation at all. On a previous discussion about "demisexuality" you brought up genital preferences, which was completely missng the point.

Just because you were confused about your sexuality doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

This also does not make sense whatsoever. My personal experience with previously identifying with "demisexuality" does not indicate that it is real, it is indicative of how mogai-labels and labels made up by tumblr kids has harmed LGB people and our identity.

And once again you have not truly answered my questions?

Demisexual was differentiated from asexuality in the early 2000's simply to acknowledge there was some variance in the asexual spectrum.

You still have yet to fully explain what this "asexual spectrum" is and how it's real and not some made-up tumblr fad for special snowflakes.

Essentially people who were in between sexual and asexual... thus demisexual

And yet "demisexual" overlaps with all other sexualities (with the exception of asexuality) because not everyone is into hook-up culture and would much rather get to know someone beforehand. There is no reason why "demisexual" deserves a label, nor is it an indicative of who or what a person is sexually attracted to, which is what sexual orientation labels are supposed to do.

Just look at the other comments, pointing out the ridiculousness of "demisexuality" and the potential existence of an "asexual spectrum", in fact, feel free to debate them too. Kudos to you if you can finally justify the existence of "demisexuality".

Heterophobia/bias against straight people? by BiHorror in LGBDropTheT

[–]hyunnahh 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty prevalent in online communities, where heterophobia is deemed as "impossible" and played off as a joke. Stuff like, "straight people ew" or "straight people sucks!" without even any disclaimer, but if anyone gets offended, they will immediately say that it's a joke. It's not even just towards straight people but also towards "cis" people, and collectively, "straight and cis". The most targeted group is probably, "straight cis white males".

The amount of hypocrisy in all these jokes, and videos and what not reeks tbh, and imo mostly comes from the younger generation and is getting out of hand. This is also part of why "LGB(T+)" acceptance has gone down over the years.

[–]hyunnahh 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

no, the problem with the + side of the "LGBT+" is that they're mostly all bullshit labels made up by tumblr users that makes close to, if not, zero sense, demisexual being one of them.

the point of sexuality and sexual orientation labels is to bring across which sex you're attracted to, thereby distinguishing your dating pool. this is consistently seen with homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual and even asexual and the original definition of pansexual. whereas "demisexuality" is an outlier. there's nothing strange or unusual or "queer" about wanting an emotional bond, in fact it's quite natural. many non-demisexuals requires a strong emotional bond with someone before feeling sexual attraction as well. but they aren't demisexual, because demisexuality in and of itself, doesn't make sense and isn't even exclusive to the label.

And you have once again glossed over everything that i've said in response to you. A discussion won't work if you keep deflecting all my points.

respectful discussion from both parties on differing opinions simply doesn't resolve conflict, it's the dominant side that wins

No, it is the side that wins the audience that wins. In fact, being aggressive has only led to the TRAs' downfall, as evident by the number of people on the internet "peaking" and realising how much bullshit the whole gender ideology is. Back when they were only requesting so much, most of us didn't have a problem with them, namely the transsexuals. It is only because they started to get aggressive, labelling everything transphobic and yadah all that jazz that we are now starting to push back. The TRAs are a weak example.

assertive but respectful was such a successful strategy, we wouldn't be in the situation we're in now, would we?

The thing is, when the whole gender ideology started to spread, pretty sure no one was putting them down, and instead supporting their delusions. It was being completely silent and seemingly supportive that got us to this position in the first place, not "being assertive and respectful".

intention that it's meant to be a slur

and WHY would you want that? WHY blatantly create another slur that is BASED on another slur? What does that accomplish? Nothing but spreading hate and adding more fuel to the fire. I also never said it was equivalent to the N slur, but the fact remains that they are BOTH slurs and should not be used in any context, each with a unique and horrible history tied to it, something that you've willingly ignored in your replies.

it's a description for a group of people that can be used in a derogatory way

and again, I ask, WHY? And WHAT is the purpose? This just seems so counter-productive and downright hateful.

Respectful =/= nice, there is a difference, they aren't even synonyms.. I can be harsh and assertive and get my points across while STILL being respectful. There is, for the last freaking time, zero need to resort to TRA behaviour in an attempt to drive them back. If anything, it'll make the TRAs even more aggressive in response and accuse us of transphobia and in your case using that term, biphobia. You seem to be mistaken, I don't care about their feelings at all because they've hurt far too many of LGB and especially children. But stooping down to their level and creating and using slurs left and right is just stupid and doesn't contribute to anything, and most certainly not to our fight against the TQ+. You seem to have this idea that the only way forward is to fight fire with more fire, but that's just not it.

Also, really?

simply thinking because it's a slur

"bislut" literally has "slut" in it. It IS a slur and it IS derogatory, as explained by myself and the few other people that has bothered to reply to your offensive comment

rapist because it's a derogatory slur

since when has rapist been derogatory? now you're just making things up.

You, you do realise that we can get a point across without using any demeaning or derogatory language right? Simply stating that this woman is doing a disservice to our community and explaining how it's harmful is enough, there's zero need to use such a derogatory term. Using a slur and insulting the other party is EXACTLY the sort of behaviour that TRAs emulate, and YOU'RE stooping down to their level. I'm not playing "nice". I recognise the harm people, like this woman in this post here, are doing to our community. I'm not blind to all this, which is why I'm here in this sub in the first place. However, there is, as has been stated many times before by me, zero need to resort to foul language that has historically been used to justify sexual assault and harassment.

The point here isn't about being nice or mean, it's about basic respect and courtesy.

I don't get why you're attempting to lump me in with this woman as an attempt to attack me personally, when you don't actually know anything about me and my "love life". The fact that YOU are resorting to such a tactic instead of properly refuting me and other commentors speaks volumes about you.

Also, nothing will justify calling someone a slur and/or a derogatory term. We don't call a black person that has commited a crime a n*. We don't call a gay man or a lesbian who commited a crime, a faggot or a dyke. Why does this not apply to this lady in question? Stop being so hateful. Yes the woman is being pretty moronic in claiming that she's a lesbian but she does NOT deserve to be labelled such a derogatory term.

So a slur that has been historically used to degrade and justify sexual crimes is not at the very least close to the N word? Dude, we've explained multiple times why this term is not just degrading to bisexuals but women as well yet you refuse to back down. The only difference between this and "sluts" is the bi in front of it.

You sound exactly like a privileged man saying "I will continue to call her a slut anx if it upsets you them too bad, boo hoo, cry me a river" and frankly, it's concerning.

[–]hyunnahh 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

But why? "Sluts" is already a slur that has historically been used on women to justify sexual harrassment and assault, and is still very derogatory to this day. Why make up another derogatory term using a slur that has such a digusting history? No matter how moronic this women, who may not even be bisexual mind you, is, that doesn't justify any of this.

Why are you not realising your mistake? Instead continuing to use such a term and refusing to listen to ACTUAL bi people saying that this is wrong and equivalent to the use of other slurs such as the N word. Saying that "Not all (group of people) are (slur/derogatory term)" doesn't make it any better. Saying that not all gay men are faggots is still homophobic. Saying not all black people are n* is still racist. Saying not all bisexuals are "bisluts" is still, guess what, derogatory and dare I say, biphobic.

At least we can actively push and fight against the first one, but woque homophobia? Jeez everyone drank the kool-aid way too quick

There are still a lot of people on AskGayBros who have been brainwashed by the woke agenda. People are being downvoted for saying there are only two genders. by RedEyedWarrior in LGBDropTheT

it used to be interchangeable, but all of a sudden the meaning "gender" changed completely?? I still don't understand how this happened :/

It doesn't matter anyways, according to multiple TRAs now, pronouns =/= gender so you can "identify" as a woman but still use "he/him" pronouns. What a mindfuck, but whatever, it will most likely bite them in their ass one day, and hopefully soon.

How did you discover you were homo/bisexual? by indeepshadows in LGBDropTheT

Thought I was just a straight ally when I first found out about the different sexualities, until I met a few friends that weren't quite straight and started questioning myself. Went from straight to bisexual to asexual before finally realizing I'm a lesbian. It was during the "asexual-demisexual" phase that I realized I wasn't actually sex repulsed, I was just penis repulsed.
