I still cannot comprehend how you can say the term bislut is equivalent to N, and the fact these people think it is, makes their opinion not worth considering.

I will continue to use the term, and if that upsets you or anyone else well that's simply too bad, I can send you over some $ for a tissue box.

So a slur that has been historically used to degrade and justify sexual crimes is not at the very least close to the N word? Dude, we've explained multiple times why this term is not just degrading to bisexuals but women as well yet you refuse to back down. The only difference between this and "sluts" is the bi in front of it.

You sound exactly like a privileged man saying "I will continue to call her a slut anx if it upsets you them too bad, boo hoo, cry me a river" and frankly, it's concerning.

Great, ignoring all other parts of my reply and jumping straight to degrading the woman again. Also, that quote alone proves nothing about this "bislut", stop nitpicking. Just because she has three different partners, doesn't mean she's a slut in any way. And yeah what she's doing is harmful to lesbians, but does that justify you calling her a derogatory term? no. grow up

I tried pointing that out to her too, good luck lol. And, I completely agree-- just because TRAs are ridiculous doesn't we should lower our standards of decency.

    [–]hyunnahh 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Exactly! We've always been called TERFs and other slurs by the homophobic crowd but that doesn't mean that we should do the same to them :/ We don't fight fire with more fire.

No but the fact she has 3 different male partners while calling herself a lesbian is the problem and of course it justifies calling her a derogatory term, the fact you clearly see yourself in her which is why you’re so upset doesn’t negate the fact

    [–]hyunnahh 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

I don't get why you're attempting to lump me in with this woman as an attempt to attack me personally, when you don't actually know anything about me and my "love life". The fact that YOU are resorting to such a tactic instead of properly refuting me and other commentors speaks volumes about you.

Also, nothing will justify calling someone a slur and/or a derogatory term. We don't call a black person that has commited a crime a n*. We don't call a gay man or a lesbian who commited a crime, a faggot or a dyke. Why does this not apply to this lady in question? Stop being so hateful. Yes the woman is being pretty moronic in claiming that she's a lesbian but she does NOT deserve to be labelled such a derogatory term.

Because you aren't listening to any refutes, simply thinking because it's a slur it's somehow comparable to N and therefore shouldn't be used. You sound exactly like a TRA stating that excluding black women from bathrooms is the same as excluding transwomen. Should a person who rapes not be called a rapist because it's a derogatory slur?

We're partially in this situation because people like you care too much about the feelings of people actively harming the community. You can play nice all you wish, not using any derogatory language because it might upset someone's feels, while you sit in the corner crying because someone who cares more about asserting their boundaries as to what they deem acceptable within their own community than upsetting feelings, has pushed you there (as we've seen with this entire TRA fiasco).

But hey, at least we weren't mean, right?

simply thinking because it's a slur

"bislut" literally has "slut" in it. It IS a slur and it IS derogatory, as explained by myself and the few other people that has bothered to reply to your offensive comment

rapist because it's a derogatory slur

since when has rapist been derogatory? now you're just making things up.

You, you do realise that we can get a point across without using any demeaning or derogatory language right? Simply stating that this woman is doing a disservice to our community and explaining how it's harmful is enough, there's zero need to use such a derogatory term. Using a slur and insulting the other party is EXACTLY the sort of behaviour that TRAs emulate, and YOU'RE stooping down to their level. I'm not playing "nice". I recognise the harm people, like this woman in this post here, are doing to our community. I'm not blind to all this, which is why I'm here in this sub in the first place. However, there is, as has been stated many times before by me, zero need to resort to foul language that has historically been used to justify sexual assault and harassment.

The point here isn't about being nice or mean, it's about basic respect and courtesy.

It IS a slur and it IS derogatory

I'm not sure if you've missed the statement of the intention that it's meant to be a slur, doesn't mean it's equivalent to the N slur

since when has rapist been derogatory?

The same way TERF is considered a slur, it's a description for a group of people that can be used in a derogatory way. Although I'll admit rapist perhaps wasn't the best example here, consider moron, junkie or idiot.

You, you do realise that we can get a point across without using any demeaning or derogatory language right?

And how has being nice, courteous, respectful of those who haven't shown a modicum of consideration for us worked out so far? Do you honestly believe the way forward is to be respectful and considerate of these people? lol, no wonder we're where we are at.

But hey, you can sit in the corner with your tissues, knowing that at least you showed them the respect they wouldn't dream of showing you.

    [–]hyunnahh 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

intention that it's meant to be a slur

and WHY would you want that? WHY blatantly create another slur that is BASED on another slur? What does that accomplish? Nothing but spreading hate and adding more fuel to the fire. I also never said it was equivalent to the N slur, but the fact remains that they are BOTH slurs and should not be used in any context, each with a unique and horrible history tied to it, something that you've willingly ignored in your replies.

it's a description for a group of people that can be used in a derogatory way

and again, I ask, WHY? And WHAT is the purpose? This just seems so counter-productive and downright hateful.

Respectful =/= nice, there is a difference, they aren't even synonyms.. I can be harsh and assertive and get my points across while STILL being respectful. There is, for the last freaking time, zero need to resort to TRA behaviour in an attempt to drive them back. If anything, it'll make the TRAs even more aggressive in response and accuse us of transphobia and in your case using that term, biphobia. You seem to be mistaken, I don't care about their feelings at all because they've hurt far too many of LGB and especially children. But stooping down to their level and creating and using slurs left and right is just stupid and doesn't contribute to anything, and most certainly not to our fight against the TQ+. You seem to have this idea that the only way forward is to fight fire with more fire, but that's just not it.

    Also, really?

sit in the corner with your tissues

Stop with the weak personal attacks and jabs, it doesn't reflect well on you.
