As a bi male, this is repugnant. Imagine telling lesbians they have to accept penises, or they're inherently bigoted and bad people.

Why would I be jealous of their inability to grow as a person? They have no modicum of self-doubt or introspection, which you could argue in some ways is a positive for them in accomplishing goals, but throw them against an equally ignorant person on the other side of the debate, and they strain each other, driving themselves to insanity whilst more sensible people on the left and right distance themselves from these two.

Not to mention, these people through creating division in the citizenry create the Warren Buffets of the world and allow them to prosper.

I'm starting to think the problem is less to do with left and right and more to do with those cocksure in their own virtue and self-righteousness to the point of self-stagnation.

Sadly this leads to the issue that those who are cocksure often tend to get their visions realised far more than those who are reserved and dominate the landscape.

I remember they got Steve Blum back to do the voice for Toonami Tom to decry that saying "All Lives Matter" was inherently a racist sentiment. This is a mass astroturfing campaign under the veneer of progressivism and tolerance to manufacture a loyal and dependable audience.

Needless to say, this is horrifying.

Tulsi is one of the few people involved in politics generally, let alone politicians, that gives me hope. While I think her previous views on homosexuality were wrong and harmful, I have hope she's sincere about her realignment. Other than that, I think she's right on the money on various issues.

This Chase Strangio person is a piece of work. He wants to ban the book because it makes them feel uncomfortable.

Guess what? It's OK to feel uncomfortable. In some ways, it can actually build character. I should know, based on the discomfort I've had dealing with the woke movement. But these people are children in adult bodies. Because they don't like it, they want to take it away from everyone else. They want complete control of the social world to tailor it to their exact standards. It's morbidly authoritarian.

I don't think radfems are ultimately our enemy. They might be misguided on their perspective toward men, but the LGB Alliance shares a common goal in highlighting the fundamental discrepancies between LGB and T+. The LGB alliance is not inherently a feminist movement.

I think they, or at least some portion of the population, do sincerely believe these things though. That's one of the reasons they're so militant about it, they're convinced they're right.

The issue I find is that it's a kafkatrap for people who generally intend to be civil to others, such as myself, and that makes me very uncomfortable.

I don't like conflict or hurting others, but I also don't like being wrong. So if I were to tell a trans person that I think their perceptions of themselves are not based in ontological truth and are ultimately delusional, I'm worried I'll be branded a horrible person or I'll hurt them enough to make them self-harm. It's impossible to agree to disagree on this issue because it's a fundamental part of how they view themselves. And the militant mindset TRA's have encouraged each other to adopt makes it even worse.

So for the sake of avoiding needless arguments or being outcast from groups, I ultimately do identify trans people by their pronouns. I totally agree that enabling the warped perception of self is only hurting them in the long run, but I'd like to avoid getting into arguments about this in apolitical contexts, particularly in public. I've got to look out for myself rather than break myself trying to convince every trans person that they're wrong about themselves.

Admit it, you're mired in the same copium Hillary supporters were in 2016. Get over it, Trump is not as popular as he once was. If you sincerely think the Democrats are the only party participating in foul play, and the GOP are saints, you might just be deluded by your own bias.

40% of people under 25 in Scotland think it should be made a criminal offence to say a man cannot become a woman by jet199 in GenderCritical

[–]HarlanRogers 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So let's accept, for the sake of argument, that a man can become a woman. I don't believe that, but again, sake of argument, let's say what they're saying is a fact.

40% of 16-24 year olds think you should be arrested for being wrong, in their eyes. That's like saying you should be arrested for saying the sky is green, and there's FAR more ontological evidence to suggest the sky isn't green than if a man can become a woman. There's a reason there's a public debate going on over whether a man can become a woman.

So essentially, 40% of 16-24 year olds think you should be arrested for disagreeing with an opinion that is open for public debate. That is absolutely terrifying.
