Any religion, culture or tradition that practises infant or adolescent genital mutilation is barbaric. Whether some indigenous African tribe, Judaism, Islam or the American culture of circumcision built around John Harvey Kellogg's anti-masturbation nonsense--it's all barbaric and should be treated as such.

It's baffling that there are those in some parts of the Western world that quietly condone mutilating the genitals of their males while screaming barbarity at cultures who mutilate the genitals of their females, as though there's even the slightest difference in terms of violating someone's bodily integrity for batshit and utterly spurious reasons without their consent.

to be fair, there's a huge difference between female genital mutilation and circumcision

the equivalent of circumcision on a female would be trimming the skin at the tip of the clitoris and maybe the labia. Instead they remove the clitoris and labia altogether. That's the equivalent of cutting off the entire head of the penis but leaving the rest of the shaft intact (if such a thing were possible)

FGM also leads to lifelong complications and pain and usually doesn't allow for regular sex without surgical 'reopening'. Then sex is its own nightmarish painful physical trauma since the new opening is much smaller after healing

FGM cuts off a lot more than circumcision, so no, it's not amazing to me that they're viewed differently. That's like saying losing a finger is comparable to losing an arm. Neither is great, but there's a difference in magnitude.

    Because at the time when she was retconning the H.P. universe, it was mostly about gay issues and people, including her, didn't realize that young children were being pushed into medical transitions that left permanent damage.

    You can be in favor of something without it being incredibly important to you. Remember that she wrote the books in the mid-90s. There was no harm in her retroactively making Dumbledore gay.

    Agreed. To me it looks like she went along with the woke nonsense and simply hit her limit at some point. If she decided to say "fuck it" after the fact, since she already saw the cancel mob coming for her, is another thing I'm unsure about. She might have just done what was politically convenient all along and now she is placing her bets on the transgender trend being one of the first pillars to fall. She might also be smart enough to realize that, among all the woke factions, the transgender crowd is the hardest to please, the most unreasonable, to the point that she might not even try, as it's futile to apologize to those people in particular.

    How did this happen

    A couple things:

    • As gays started gaining mainstream acceptance, and particularly in the last few years when they've gained widespread support and legal protections, the focus of lobbying efforts started to shift to the T, because these established orgs needed to be "doing activism" to keep bringing in the donations and keep their jobs.
    • A lot of people realized that in hindsight gay people should have had these rights all along, so people didn't speak up earlier because they were afraid of being seen as hateful in the way we see homophobes now.

    So the result was you had this modern trans activism pushing for self-id as a legal standard, and "affirmation only" approaches to adolescent gender dysphoria cases. Also they started telling kids that GNC behavior meant you were trans, and again you didn't have people shutting that down because they were afraid of being called bigots.

    You can see it now even in 2020. Rowling has done nothing but explain her reservations about men who haven't really transitioned, and GNC and autistic girls being pushed into transitioning despite basically every study that exists showing the vast majority will eventually grow out of it, and she is still getting called a bigot that wants trans people to die because of it. She's too rich and established to be cancelled, but other more vulnerable people are probably afraid to speak out still for this reason.

    My second cousin is gay-married and they adopted to black boys (men now). I can't say what happens in their home but one thing I'm certain of - they seem very normal and everyone is very well loved. I haven't seen them since my other cousin, his brother, died 7 years ago.

    People can become tolerant or accepting of gayness, maybe even open to being bi if that's their nature, but I'm pretty certain folks are born as they are on the Kinsey scale with their genetically determined preferences.

    I'd say authentic feminism is good but the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Waves are far more harmful to society than gay marriage. Also bad: Gay Pride parades that are all about the sex, rather than the caring.

    I am straight, or so that's how I identify. I was bi for a while when I was young and horny and willing to do anything that was interested in me. I learned that was how you get trapped in relationships, so I swore off dudes and fat/ugly girls and raised my bar high. I finally found my dream girl (until I got poisoned by Big Pharma - if it ain't broke...)

    However, to be honest with myself, while now being straight and single, on the Kinsey scale of 0-6 I would still be a 1 and always have been. Presently I have bigger issues than sexuality - it's my self image and my high bar. I used to look like this and now I look like that, AND have aged, so finding my dream girl/woman is now even closer to impossible. I've accepted that I'll likely be voluntarily celibate from here on. I had more than most (not counting married people) when I was active.

    The influence you speak of would not affect a 0 or 6. And anyone who was actually influenced had that inherent ability/tendency anyway - otherwise they wouldn't have been influenced. They're not "defective", just different, like someone with freckles or glasses. It's not a binary good/bad thing. No one is "normal" and average in all things.

    Sigh. I didn't say they weren't powerful and COULD NEVER screw somebody up. The example given was women allegedly "killing themselves using anabolic steroids" which, if you know what you are doing, DOES NOT HAPPEN.

    And in the numerous cases where the person receives ill advice or doesn't know what they're doing, this is usually accompanied by a "victory at any cost whatsoever" mentality that ties in perfectly with other high risk behaviors.

    I know this very personally, as I have been an athlete, around athletes, and coaching athletes for 20 years in total. That book isn't wrong, and I too, strongly oppose big pharma. But you have to realize that while a huge portion of what big pharma does is purely destructive, some things aren't terrible.

    Take human growth hormone prescribed to aging patients that can afford the > $1,000 / month cost of this powerful rejuvenator: ask them if they would live without it. Ask Stallone how many movies he would have made past the age of 60 if he'd been forced to do without.

    My point is, most of big pharma is evil, but anabolics aren't a huge problem if you know what you are doing. If you don't, or you are a total idiot, then yes you can fuck yourself up with them. Hell, you can commit suicide by drinking water if you are stupid or determined enough.

    Stallone is an awesome actor but this topic has nothing to do with that. These people we're talking about here are not taking these drugs for endurance but for misguided and often delusional vanity reasons. Others are taking them because estrogen is considered the new "chemsex" drug. The latter category are outright drug addicts plain and simple, but even they are validated and enabled by the online trans community.

    What you don't seem to understand is that modern medicine has to anticipate the fact that "total idiots" are going to take their drugs, and have to build safeguards against that. There are no safgeguards anymore because people are transitioning under an informed consent model. They are literally self-diagnosing and ordering drugs on their own from sketchy darkweb sites, and this destructive and dangerous practice is openly encouraged and promoted by the online trans community. This form of self-diagnosis and self-medication is in no way comparable to professional athletes that have to undergo medical check-ups and doping-tests to even be allowed to compete.

    Just because you read the word "steroid", don't assume it's about you and what you do. It's not.

        Lobotomies are more of the Orwellian Newspeak / neurolinguistic programming type nowadays. For example, you co-opt a word (such as "socialism" which the communists have successfully achieved) and tweak its meaning by using massive psyops. Then when nobody can think about the things that the word USED TO mean because there is no word for these things, you've achieved the same goal as a selective, precise "lobotomy" while preserving the individual's capacity as a good slave. It is much more efficient: it can be applied to whole populations, no need for expensive an labor-intensive surgery, etc.

        Maybe. Sadly. There are some limitations to this, but I am no lawyer. For example, informed consent or not, you cannot sign yourself into slavery. Many contracts, AFAIK, are also void if you are deceived into signing them, but again I don't know if this is comparable in the legal world. That's an extreme and obvious case, of course, but I really have no idea how judges would rule in the future, given enough damage and given enough backlash. Could some of these people even give informed consent due to age or their mental conditions? You're a rape victim nowadays if you had a glass of wine and your enthusiastic consent from the night prior is null and naught, but if you are given a false bill of goods and get a frankenpenis or a dickgina, you have no basis to sue. It just doesn't seem consistent. Maybe true legally speaking, sadly, but not consistent.

        Calling something "informed consent" doesn't necessarily make it so. If the doctors withheld vital information regarding the efficacy of transition or the side effects in order to gain consent to the procedures, then there was no informed consent and the doctors could be held liable.

        I know what you are saying, but the trans thing is a completely different beast. It's a sexual fetish with a ton of legal liability for parents and the healthcare industry. And obviously just a social trend, instead of a biological deviation, like gays and lesbians.
