Tbh I think it’s because right now it’s kind of seen as bad to be straight, like you’re boring.

You can see that with people who say that their gender is fluid and use more than one pronoun.

Take someone who says they're non-binary, sometimes they identify as male and sometimes they identify as something else. Now, I've seen some people who identify this way that date men. Male + non-male = straight, right? Even if the non-binary person identifies as male sometimes (so male + male = gay), at least sometimes this person would be non-male, so at least sometimes this relationship would be straight.

Yet, not once I've seen a person in such a relationship or their partners identifying their relationship as straight. They always identify as gay. If they really identify as non-male sometimes, why do they consistently use a male-male label? If they believe in freedom of labels, why use these labels at all?

I've even seen this among creators, like people saying that they make gay art of gay couples and then saying that one of the members of the couple is non-binary... Again, why the double standard?

The truth is that, in one hand, they don't wanna identify as male because cis men are the bad. And I imagine that some of them simply don't feel comfortable following gender stereotypes, yet unfortunately they've been co-opted by the TQ+ to believe that not following stereotypes means not being male/female. On other hand, though, they also don't wanna say they're straight because they think it's also bad. So it becomes this contradictory narrative of both being non-male and using a male-male label.
