Russia has been frustrated that the United States and Europe have largely remained united on continued military and economic support for Ukraine, American officials said.

LOL.

Moscow is also likely to try to boost pro-Russian candidates in Europe, seeing potential fertile ground with recent results. A pro-Russian candidate won Slovakia’s parliamentary elections on Sunday. In addition to national elections, Russia could seek to influence the European parliamentary vote next year, officials said.

Is Russia, in reality, "The Borg"? by jerryk in WayOfTheBern

[–]unagisongs 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

its colonization with Russian citizens

If you think this is the case then you've missed the point of this war from the Russian perspective. Russia could have swallowed Ukraine already had they intended to colonize the nation state. This is exactly what the west wants to happen. A colonized Ukraine means the west's intel goons can fill up the place with insurgencies to fuck up the country and destabilize Putin's political base. The Russian goal is and has always been to have a defensive perimeter to stop NATO from parking missiles on their door step and threatening to use them if they keep demanding fair market value for their oil and gas. Russia was content to leave the Ukrainian US run puppet government in power as long as they never officially join NATO. Since it's clear at this point the US intends to spend every drop of Ukrainian blood in order to break up and balkanize a defeated Russia. The Russians instead retreated to fortified positions to rope-a-dope the west into throwing every solider, arms and weapon system into battle to force them to exhaust the Western government's ability to wage war. Russia is effectively disarming the west by bleeding them white. Ukraine is losing ground as they can no longer field armies to fight off the ever present Russian forces. They are exhausted prey getting walked down by a patient and practiced predator. All the pressure is on the west to salvage the situation. Russia will continue to push the Ukrainian government to implode and put the country back together as they see fit without any great occupation the west is so fond of. The west will have no say in how Russia reforms Ukraine as they been systematically defanged and they don't have the forces needed to oppose the Russia in any real capacity. I expect great anguish and rage from the Ukraine's remaining soldiers redirected at the west in a series of terrorist attacks that we pretend we didn't see coming.

The message is quite clear -- "We are the Russians, resistance is futile."

The West is the Borg in this analogy. It's Russia that isn't following the west's hive mind of authoritarianism. The west has been trying to grind Russia into dust since the outbreak of the Great War in 1914. They came close to totally destroying Russia in the mid-90s, but they got greedy and forgot to break up the country when they had the chance. They are decades late to do anything to stop Russia from setting it's own political, economic and social agenda.

I guess Vladimir Putin was a big fan of "Star Trek : The Next Generation", back in the 1980's when he was an up and coming KGB agent in the Soviet Union. And, the concept of "The Borg" made quite an impression on him.

Do you have a source for this? It was a significant endeavor to just to get western media in Soviet Union. If the people in the Soviet Union wanted to listen to banned western music they'd have to get bootleg copies recorded on discarded x-rays. Where would Putin have even gotten the technology to even watch ST:TNG without getting caught with banned materials and video equipment? In the 90s I could see it happening perhaps.

Now, it's quite common, I've noticed, to compare the Russians to the "Orcs", from Lord of the Rings, these days, in the Western media.

Everything new is well-forgotten old. - Russian proverb

And, indeed, I'm by no means sure that J.R.R. Tolkien did not indeed have Stalin in mind with Sauron, and that Mordor was not the Soviet Union, in the mind of the creator of the Lord of the Rings.

The Lord of the Rings is Tolkien coping with his experiences in the Great War. The orcs are a representation of what happens to soldiers on the western front twisted by their leaders to commit atrocities great and small for nearly a half a decade.

They are not evil, but, actually, highly functional. It is a perfectly legitimate conception of society, although it sublimates the individual to the greater whole -- a conception that is anathema to the Western mindset. Of course, Westerners will submit to higher authority, if need be, for a time. However, they do so reluctantly.

This is straight delusional fart sniffing. The west has little to no real opposition to the oligarchy that has total control over the "free thinking" western dipshits. They have not done a damn thing to stop them from grinding the Ukrainian people into meat paste for the last ten years for "freedom". Westerners have ensured the Ukrainian people's slavery for generations and don't even know it. Eastern Ukraine has already been "sold" to Black Rock and nobody cares that every resource in eastern Ukraine will be drained into Black Rock's coffers. If the west wins in eastern Ukraine the citizens will become impoverished and powerless neo-serfs in their own land. If Russia wins loyal Ukrainians will be exiled from their homes if they have not already been churned up in the slaughter. The west has severe brain rot from repeating the same self indulgent narcissistic propaganda.

In contrast, in traditional China, in the Mongol Empire, and, in Russia, which learned so much from the Mongols, the conception of the hive mind is much more familiar, and much more acceptable. We really should bear this in mind, don't you think?

I don't think you read enough or listen enough to have a basic grasp history, politics, literature, or culture. Resorting to pop culture references that miss the mark entirely didn't work. Authoritarianism is bad. Wow. How profound. Another person lost in the weeds.

Russia isn't invading or conquering Ukraine. Russia is devouring and absorbing Ukraine. by jerryk in WayOfTheBern

[–]unagisongs 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Russia has settled down to the process of systematically absorbing all the best parts of Ukraine, and, they may get around to the rest of the country, as well.

This is foolish western hubris believing occupying is country is feasible or rational. The west's intelligence organizations would love to fund an insurgency to make Russia miserable. Russians are a lot more caution after the Afghanistan debacle. Occupying the totality of Ukraine is fundamentally a trap.

Sure, Russian soldiers are dying in Ukraine. But, so are a lot of Ukrainians,

More importantly Russia is disarming Europe. It's hard to have any kind of occupying force to try and invade Russia with nothing left in the tank. Nor will Europe have bodies willing to try invading. Any European solider with a functioning brain does not wants to be sent to invade Russia. The Ukrainians that are willing to invade Russia are getting eradicated. The same people that would be joining an insurgency if Russia was to occupy the entire country or voting against Russia in the future are losing more their lives, but their total political opposition to Russian interests.

What NATO still doesn't quite get, is that all they're doing by "helping" Ukraine, is hurting the Ukrainian people, and hurting themselves, and their own economies.

The current goal of NATO is to strip Ukraine for parts and literally sell it off to Black Rock and it's subsidiaries. Every war is a resource war. There is no "helping". War is about people "helping themselves" to other people's wealth and resources. Especially weak countries like Ukraine are too fragile to stop the US from forming a shadow government and forcing them into a war with the Russians. Ukraine won't be a state by the time the war is over. It will have collapsed into stateless buffer zone between Russia and rest of Europe. West Ukraine with no formal government structure benefits the Russia security state by letting them have carte blanche to shape West Ukraine as they see fit without occupying the area directly. I expect West Ukraine will be heavily dependent on Russian humanitarian aid once the West slips out the back door.

NATO is trying to teach Russia a lesson,

NATO is fighting Russia due to their interference with the US coup in Syria. This prevented the Saudi/UAE pipeline from running oil and gas pipe lines through the middle east to the balkens to directly compete with Russian oil and gas production. Effectively putting Russia in the dog house by by having the Saudis and UAE temporarily drive European oil and gas prices into the ground. This benefits the Saudis and the UAE by putting a global competitor in the oil business under their thumb. Europe benefits by ensuring an abundant oil and gas supply from cheap suppliers whether the Saudis or the new balkanized Russia they had intended to create. Naturally the Russians did not want to stay Europe's whipping boy and decided to protect their interests. However many Russian oligarchs that would very much like to see Putin put down so they may rise again as petty lords. They paid US politicians handsomely to do their bidding and pursue a regime change war through the Ukrainian puppetry. This has lead to some Russians learning how fly the hard way. All that pain and suffering for what? A little bit more money and power.

‘Trump scooped us’: Dems sound alarm on Biden’s handling of the auto worker strike ¦ Donald Trump’s decision to head to Detroit for a speech next week is setting off alarms among some Joe Biden allies. by RandomCollection in WayOfTheBern

The articles make a big show of the Democrats shuffling their card and then the Deocrats go right back to what they were doing. These articles are designed to make the reader believe that are doing something behind the scenes to get back on track. It's just another facade to provide cover to keep the grift going.

A union adviser, speaking on condition of anonymity in order to offer a blunt evaluation, said Trump “is still himself and will say and do crazy shit.” But, the person added, “he actually has people who know what they’re doing. He boxed Biden in. It was kinda genius.”

Inside the White House and Biden campaign, operatives scoffed at such an assessment.

LOL

Biden’s team has privately weighed whether to dispatch a top lieutenant to the picket line to stand alongside the UAW workers, according to two people familiar with those discussions. The exact details of who might go or where they could travel are unclear.

LOL

Yet even as they considered sending a public-facing official to the site of the strike, the White House was pulling back on some behind-the-scenes engagement. On Tuesday, the administration scrapped its plan to have two Biden aides head to Detroit this week to help both sides after union officials complained about it.

LOL

Last week, during a speech on the UAW strike, Biden announced that he was sending White House senior adviser Gene Sperling and acting Labor Secretary Julie Su to Detroit. Their goal was to help the union and auto companies reach a contract, but they would not intervene, the Biden administration said.

LOL

While some of Biden’s allies are concerned by Trump’s visit to Detroit, other Democrats predicted it would flop.

“I think it backfires,” said. Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.). “Autoworkers, they know their interests and they know who stands with them.”

Empty pantomime.

I honestly doubt Biden Jr. is the culprit in this instance as funny as it would be if they traced it back to him. Leaving their cocaine in the White house library makes me think staff working late hours and forgetting their gear. If Biden Jr. was constantly bopping to the library to take a bump. White house security would notice him constantly skittering over to the library when he had no business being in there. Jittery White House staff going to the library for a "study break" every hour wouldn't draw suspicions and doubt they get thoroughly searched all the time. I'd look for the one staff member sweating profusely and looking around nervously at their colleagues from under a pile of books at their desk.

WHELP! Time to piss test the White house staff. Quick! Cocaine gets metabolized fast.

Whitebread Warren is a perfect example of the Democratic Party. Boring and plain on the outside. Rotting on the inside. Ever step of her churn toward fame, power and riches has been from exploiting systems and people to her advantage. A shewed thinker with no conscience at all. Banality of evil personified.

The joys of circular logic. The orange never would have been a threat if the Democrats had not protected, supported and bolstered him for nearly forty years. Don't shit where you eat and you won't have to eat shit. Democrats can keep eating shit as far as I'm concerned.

Patience is undervalued. Sometimes the only way to move forward is to wait to see how things unfold. Why should we give anything to reddit if they aren't willing give anything in return? Our power is in what we can take from Reddit. Reddit won't repeal their authoritarian over reach. Spez says we are just, "noise". Spez will find out silence is far worse. Reddit slowly going silent will make driving traffic to the site more and more difficult. Conde Nast will shut down Reddit if they don't make a profit. I watched Dig die when they didn't listen to their users. I'll watch Reddit die just the same. Embrace Reddit's authoritarianism choices with equal unyielding resoluteness.

@SocDoneLeft: "Voting is just political power. It's not a moral reflection on your soul. In every competitive election, leftists should vote for the leftmost viable option. This is the Clinton political triangulation to excuse embracing the neoliberal criminal element. If you don't vote for a conservative then the left will lose! How does the left win by voting for a conservative? Take the placebo and the shut the fuck up. We've already decided your fate. You just need to get onboard. How well has political triangulation worked out for leftists in the last thirty years? The result has been clear. The neoliberal shuffle always moves to the right.
