Blindly being pro-regulations is just as stupid though. I’m in favor of good regulations that promote health and safety. I want my drugs tested, and I’d rather planes not fall from the sky. At the same time there are thousands of ridiculous regulations requiring lots of compliance paperwork that add nothing to the public good and end up preventing useful inventions or efficiency gains.

Remember callus economic exploitation is the essence of capitalist innovation...unless the victims are wealthy then it's a horribly tragedy no one could have foreseen.

I get this is a joke, but let's think this one over.

The only difference is that when Silicon Valley does that, someone's phone app crashes. When things are broken deep under the ocean, preventable fatalities occur.

Truth be told, for mission critical systems, even Silicon Valley should be cautious. You can see what's happening with all of those Tesla self driving crashes.

Caution is for suckers that can't pay off senators.

Darwin seems to have claimed the Ocean Gate submersible. If anything, it highlights why libertarians are horrendously wrong.

I saw someone try to blame it on the government and socialism.

They're right in a way. Wasting time and resources trying to rescue these unfortunate souls when we already knew they were dead is a result of a bloated government trying to fulfill the social need of keeping the people distracted from Hunter Biden's legal troubles.

They should bill the company for the rescue attempt costs.
