That's bullshit. A minimum wage is instituted to benefit the government not the citizen. To the government, each and every one of us is an atm and a minimum wage guarantees it.

We are only required to have a minimum income so that there can at least be a minimum tax generated. Take the taxes out of the equation, or at least most of them, and people will be able to afford most of the things they require.

So then you go to the grocery store to buy cocoa pops for your kids before they play in that park the government gave you but wait! Last week cocoa pops were only $2.99, now they're $3.99. Well shit, you can't afford that at your minimum wage job so you write your congressmen and say "hey! I only make minimum wage I can't afford cocoa pops for ma keeedz! but I'll vote for you if you get it raised."

Congressvermin X then hits the house floor and proposes a wage for minimum wage, it runs through the senatescum and then the president dickhead signs it into law.

Now the grocery store has to pay it's employees, all 120 of them $1 more an hour so it has to again raise the prices to pay it's employees AND make a profit. Now cocoa pops are $4.99.

And in the end the idiot exploited now makes more money which the feral government can now tax more and collect more from the average american moron.

This more or less sums it up for me sort of. I find a reliable source and pin point it's bias, who sponsors it and use that to form my opinion.

A good example would be the Tax Foundation.

They ask people to sponsor them- "As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we depend on the generosity of individuals like you. Help us continue our work by making a tax-deductible gift today."

Their agenda is fairly straightforward- "For over 80 years, our goal has remained the same: to improve lives through tax policies that lead to greater economic growth and opportunity."

While I sort of scoff at their claim of "non profit" I scoff at every corporation, charity or organization that claims to be. Somebody is profiting. There are thousands of employees, expense accounts, paid trips, health insurance and everything else that goes with employment. They profit or else no one would show up for work.

So with the Tax Foundation I know that there bias is to reduce or eliminate taxes and while it is a bias it is one that only people who want to increase taxes will disagree with. The thing about taxes is that if you don't feel you pay enough you can always donate to whatever it is you feel needs more money but people that want to increase taxation NEVER want that money to come from their bank accounts, they want others to do it. And that's just filthy. Those people are trash that steal from others while claiming to be decent human beings.

Rarely over time does any maintained house decrease in value. There are exceptions but most of these you should know to look out for before you buy it.

If you buy a little crap shack you can always rent it out. I know I know, it's a hassle but in the end you own it and it is an asset. Buy two crap shacks, rent them both and pay for your apartment wherever you want to rent. When you're done renting, sell the two crap shacks and use the money for a down payment.

In the late 70's and early 80's the auto plants used tons of labor but as labor and benefit costs increased they moved toward automation and importation.

Each engine was more or less hand built, every door was lifted and bolted on and each car was hand painted. All of those jobs were automated. ALL OF THEM.

So what they do now is a two tier pay system. One at the old wage and one at a sort of minimum wage.

That's right folks, there is a number above your head that equates to how much bullshit your worth. No matter if you're a factory worker or a desk jockey. Eventually when you cost more than another option they go with the cheaper more reliable version.

This question isn't really fair to people in general. That and you probably aren't being honest with us or yourself.

The reason many don't completely read a post and reply to it half assed are doing so because there really is no reward it. The person posting the question doesn't really want an accurate answer, just a validation of his own opinion. Sometimes the answer is too complicated for the person asking it and the person answering knows that and or doesn't feel like explaining an entire concept.

Often when people ask good questions and get a good answer the person answering would appreciate a continued discussion on the subject or at minimum a thank you. It rarely happens.

It's the problem with our current society. We seek quick satisfaction by gaining easy rewards.
