Strangely, sex workers don't seem too bothered by how the people who seek them out are never considered people, just perverts, incels, and what-not "taking advantage of them."

I love some of those demands the whores have on their sign. Beyond the ones that would make their jobs better than normal jobs, like demanding free mental health support, they also want flexible working hours. I didn't know the Belgian government were demanding whores work from 8am till 6pm, 6 days a week. I kinda thought whores either worked when they wanted or when their pimp told them to.

I also got a chuckle out of that one that was saying their pimps think of them as product to be sold... Yeah, kinda. I don't know if you noticed, but when you're trying to rent a woman for an hour, the woman is the product. Like if you're paying a handyman to fix your roller door, the handyman is the product - You're paying for him to do things. Their ads don't say: "Dave is a REAL human with REAL feelings, so you should respect him!". They say: "We can send a guy to fix anything in your house! All hours, no call out fee!!"

To some degree you have to do that yourself. You want to compare stats. This just sets the bar for running ads at a level where the average web administrator could no longer sell ads. At the end of the day it doesn't matter because the thing that matters more is conversion rate. So you run a test campaign with a platform and if you like the stats their traffic generates (not just total clicks) you keep buying, and if you don't you stop buying. That's on you the ad purchaser, and you have to go through that process no matter what because all traffic is going to be different for about 50 million different reasons beyond just the existence of bots.

According to the article the advertiser is suing because Reddit refused to provide IP address data to the advertiser. I should hope a site would not turn over IP addresses of their users to any advertiser who asks for it.

In internet advertising you typically use a neutral third party service (like Moat, which was used in this case) to verify clicks are real people. You don't give users' private data to advertisers.

Based on that I think this case is BS. I hate Reddit for their censorship so I'm not biased for them at all. I deleted my Reddit account a long time ago because fuck them.

A dangerous precedent here that I very much am against. This "No Fly" should only be used when a person is put on trial for charges and then found guilty but those same charges have to pertain to air travel. The idea that government could just arbitrarily place anyone they dislike on a No Fly list is a VERY dangerous idea for what's next? Have the ATF place that person on a Prohibited Possessor list? Cut them off from their rightful Medicaid or SSA payments? Kick them out of government sponsored housing? Send notice of cancel of a persons drivers license? Revoke professional licensees? Place a block on their bank accounts like Nation of Canada did of the "Truckers Protest" under ZERO lawful authority? Where does the governments power to punish end and to what limits? History has proven times without count that when government believes it can just do whatever it wants then cruel subjugation of its people comes next. Cattle cars to an internment camp at the pointy end of a rifle can come next if the government believes it can just do whatever it wants with no legal trial and convictions at all.

More from the article:

The Post added that with the Biden administration's new emissions rules requiring more electric and hybrid vehicles, the slow pace of charging infrastructure development could hinder the transition to electric cars. Twelve additional states have awarded contracts for charging station construction, while 17 states have yet to issue proposals.

The U.S. has nearly 10,000 fast charging stations, including over 2,000 reliable Tesla Superchargers, but non-Tesla chargers often suffer from poor performance.

The NEVI program aims to boost fast charging capacity by 50% to reduce "range anxiety," but states must first build the chargers.

“State transportation agencies are the recipients of the money. Nearly all of them had no experience deploying electric vehicle charging stations before this law was enacted,” Nick Nigro, founder of Atlas Public Policy added.

A bashful SaidItor sent me this link to post. Excerpt:

When people gripe about paying taxes and the government being a poor the absolute worst possible capital allocator, this is what they are talking about: $7.5 billion in investments for electric vehicles has - in two years - produced just 7 charging stations across four states.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, signed by Biden in November 2021, allocated $7.5 billion for EV charging, the Washington Post writes. Of this amount, $5 billion went to states as "formula funding" for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program to establish a network of fast chargers along major highways.

Today, there's seven chargers with a total of just 38 parking spots. And, come on: when the Post is calling it out, you know the results have been horrible.

Ukraine once again targeted a civilian building in Belgorod, Russia.

Missile strike hit entire entrance to a multi-storey building in Russia's Belgorod region.

Ukraine has apparently received the green light from NATO to escalate, and hit civilian targets in Russia with the long-range missiles it has received.

The question is how Putin will respond.

In response, will he flatten 10 of these in Kiev and Lviv, which he will not need to rebuild anyway, because those cities are outside the goals of Russia, or will he remain calm again until the Russian army takes Kharkiv.

Crypto's Eternal Winter by GB43 in cryptocurrency

[–]Brown055 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

In the world of cryptocurrencies, the notion of an "Eternal Winter" carries weighty connotations, evoking a prolonged period of downturn and uncertainty. It's a phrase that resonates deeply with those who have weathered the storms of the crypto market's volatile cycles. As highlighted in the insightful analysis from https://edumanias.com/crypto-and-finance/key-mistakes-of-crypto-exchange-trading/, the landscape of crypto exchange trading is fraught with potential pitfalls, often leading investors into treacherous waters where one wrong move can result in significant losses. The Eternal Winter represents not just a downturn in prices, but a broader malaise that encompasses regulatory challenges, security concerns, and the fickleness of investor sentiment. It serves as a stark reminder of the risks inherent in this nascent asset class, where fortunes can be made or lost in the blink of an eye. Yet, amidst the chill of uncertainty, there remains a glimmer of hope for those who possess the resilience and foresight to navigate these turbulent waters. For every winter eventually gives way to spring, and in the world of cryptocurrencies, opportunities for growth and innovation abound, waiting to be seized by those bold enough to embrace them.

The only way to know would be to have satellite surveillance with footage of the past year of every M1. Everything else is propaganda.

At least one M1 was captured by the Russians, so at least it's not some invincible wonder weapon. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-68934205

It is plausible that the M1 isn't a match for drones, because it wasn't designed for such a battle field.

The frontline moving is hard to fake for long periods of time; at some point journalists will report that it is dangerous in some place they could previously get near to and especially when doing that in concert with satellite footage. I am not sure what agreements there are regarding sharing operationally sensitive areas, but anything falling outside of such squares would also shift.

Yes.

And it's the media, but not just the media, of course.

It's control of all of what is sometimes termed 'The Commanding Heights'.

The situation that follows is a relationship, between certain industries (media, banks, etc.) and government, which looks like a kind of South/Central American situation:

A small group of greed-driven financial/business interests collude with a (sold-out/corrupt) government to help each other exploit the majority of citizens.

An alternative solution is that the government kills those average citizens. Unfortunately, they never choose such solutions.

"Anti-social content"? Pretty much all content on Twitter is "anti-social". It's an advertising platform, not some happy place. Instagram is a public display of narcissists, LinkedIn is a public display of available slaves and Reddit is a collection of basement dwellers entertained by depressed YouTubers.

Mechanical damage (due to eating more) with down regulated DNA repair genes would probably account for a lot, but without measuring it there's nothing useful to say about it.

Microplastics are already known to build up in the body, which by definition reduces efficiency of body processes. Whether those give you cancer, is irrelevant.

Russian authorities, meanwhile, are reported or rumored (as discussed in his broadcast today by Alexander Mercouris) to be issuing arrest warrants for senior Ukrainian politicians and officials, including Zelenskiy, for war crimes. If true this is possibly intended to reduce the perceived legitimacy of the Zelenskiy regime and provides further confirmation that Russia will not negotiate with the existing regime - which will very soon be completely illegal (it has been illegal since the US-instigated coup of 2014). Zelenskiy’s recent dismissal of Zaluzhniy from the Ukrainian armed forces (on the grounds of ill health), removing his entitlement to give orders, may suggest that Zaluzhniy may be involved, or is seen to be involved, in a coup attempt against Zelenskiy in the wake of the supposed uncovering of an assassination plot involving two Ukrainian colonels.

I think that it is obvious that the Russians are increasing the pressure on the Ukrainians.

Christ, I hope so!

I know a few of these "They/Them" types. Most of them women, and all those women very traditionally feminine in every way except maybe a hair cut or some hairy under arms. I often wonder if, when their boyfriend is folding their legs behind their head, pounding their cervix in the folding chair position as she whimpers and squeaks and screams: "Yeah, fuck this little pussy! Fuck me! Fuck me!" if, afterwards, they both look each other in the eye and share a silent moment of complete dissonance as they attempt to partition what just happened along with the idea that this woman doesn't feel enough like a woman to use "She/Her".

Baidu VP resigns amid backlash over controversial remarks

After viewing her videos, I feel that Baidu is a scary company. The point is that she even published these videos on her Douyin account herself. That means she was pretty sure and satisfied with what she used to say in Baidu. The only reason of her resignation was that she did made it public without Baidu's approval and she drew attention of public with it. If she wouldn't make this mistake, then she would still stay in company for sure. As Baidu's vice president, her remarks trully represent the company's image and values.

These things always backfire because they are either 1) performative box checking or 2) bad actors in positions of power within these companies who are more interested in jabbing their fingers in the eyes of people they don’t like. The problem is, those people are their paying customers.

Sure, people are afraid to openly speak their minds out of fear of being accused of one of the various “isms” and “phobias”….but you know what doesn’t get these people cancelled? Simply taking their business and their money elsewhere.

Once you take your customers for granted, they won’t be customers for much longer.

People used to quip that the government controlled the media. I think at this point, it’s the opposite. Media controls the government, and we know who controls the media.

If you asked someone to describe what would take place in a country where it was being controlled behind the scenes by hostile outsiders who hate its citizens, they would come up with something pretty close to what we are seeing today. Including criminalization of criticizing said hostile outsiders.
