If they ask who your attorney is, tell them it doesn't matter at this point since you're trying to get this resoled amicably without them. Let me explain what's happening. This guy doesn't own the business so he's not getting the profit from the "repair", so why is he trying to rip off the home owner? Because the trend in the trades is for bigger corporations to buy up companies across the country and turn the technicians into salesmen. They change the pay scale from a higher hourly rate to a lower hourly rate plus commission for extra that the technician can upsell to the customer. A guy like this has to make up for the lost hourly wage by talking (or tricking) the customer into paying for stuff they don't always need. Also, a guy who would do this scam has no problem making extra money instead of quitting and finding a job with a company with no upsell pressure.

In the U.S. Airbnb has become a side hustle for many who think they can overcharge and underdeliver. I used it 6 years ago without understanding what I was renting. I thought it was a bedroom suite addition from the homeowner, but it was one of 4 bedrooms he rented out without living there. It was a little scary, but since it was a resort town during a peak time, it was about the third of the price of a hotel room. Nowadays, with all of the "cleaning fees" plus the requirement for you to clean before you leave anyway, a hotel room will be a much better value, unless you are a larger group staying together. We rented a condo through Vrbo last year and got good value and a good responsive owner/manager.

I see the rise and fall of border crossings tied to the economy. When the economy is growing, people move to the U.S. to grab the jobs available. Now, with jobs in construction falling and inflation rising, it is not as desirable to make the journey. Two different types of events. Trump's referenced event was a rally. Harris' event was a visit to a community college. A sitting President will use "official" visits like this to justify using taxpayer money to fly them around for campaign rallies. Find a local school or business to visit for a few minutes and then run over to the campaign rally. Harris probably had a rally afterwards that had many more people in attendance.

In some States, and I think Florida, you can shoot through a closed door but only if the person is trying to break in. You have the right to believe they are breaking in to kill or rape you. But, this was not the case. You're right about the woman who was shot. The neighbors even said she was the problem and was harassing the shooter.
