The whole movement runs on heavily curated, isolated spaces with a strict hierarchy. It crumbles completely if people are allowed to disagree with the bluebloods and reject their authority. That's why so many tenets of their faith straight out forbid the commoners from any sort of assertive behavior. Your feelings and needs are unimportant because it's merely your privilege or internalized bigotry speaking through you. You can't express a different opinion because it reinforces the norms of a bigoted society. You can't ask the other person to explain their poorly articulated thoughts; that's asking them for emotional labor. You can't question someone else's experiences; that's violence (but they can and will question yours).

It used to be hard to set up such a space because people naturally didn't want to be in them. Left-wing political organizations which did it would quickly splinter and turn into a bunch of people who could fit on one sofa. Identity politics thrived in universities because those already are quite hierarchical places where your career depends on someone else's whim. But it's the blogs and then the social media that were game-changers.

Facebook, Reddit, or Twitter are pretty much feudal kingdoms with a bunch of fiefs where the word of the ruler is absolute. Piss off the baron, and he'll banish you from his court. Piss off the king, and he'll take your county away and banish you from the kingdom. This is the perfect environment for identity politics to thrive.

Perhaps most remarkably, in 2020, the prestigious Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture published a list of characteristics which it attributed to ‘whiteness’ or ‘white culture’. These traits included ‘individualism’, the ‘scientific method’, ‘rational… thinking’, following Christianity and showing up on time for work. Traits which are clearly accessible to people of any colour.

It's one thing to just be woke. It's another one to be so woke that you start believing in stereotypes normally espoused by racial supremacists.

The way they treat each other and those they call chasers is both hilarious and tragic.

You get born with a perfectly healthy body. At some point, you get the idea that you're unhappy because of it; what would truly make you fulfilled would be becoming a member of the opposite sex. You preemptively cut off everyone who tries to persuade you against this because you don't want their negativity spoiling your metamorphosis. Even when you're choosing a therapist, you only consider those that fully subscribe to your delusion; otherwise, it's "conversion therapy."

Dressing up soon ceases to be enough, so you start taking pills. You risk many side effects (including seven times higher chance of dying from a stroke), but at least you look like you wanted. Of course, that's only if you wanted to look like a "Silence of the Lambs" reject, a plastic doll, or a 12-year-old boy (if you tried to become a man). Absolutely no one is fooled by this; even though people have to maintain you're beautiful/handsome not to get canceled, it's not enough to drag them to a date with you. So you get an operation that has a significant chance of leaving you incontinent and in constant pain, which changes absolutely nothing.

Straight or gay people don't want you, no matter how hard you try to convince them that you're as good as the real deal. You probably could date other trans people, but even though common people should be completely content with a transgender partner, you decide you deserve better than just some imitation. There is a small intersection of people who are what you seek and would willingly choose you – and you're disgusted by them, those repugnant chasers. If someone wants to be with you, they're shit, and you want nothing to do with them.

At this point it's like they tried to be as unhappy and unfulfilled as possible.

I don't think we'll see a lot of detransitioners in the future. It takes a very specific person to go all in with an irreversible surgery, then decide it's too much afterward. At this point, you have really no choice but to be happy about your decision. If you want to be a member of the opposite gender so much that you're willing to mutilate yourself and kinda look like one in a favorable light, if you couldn't stand being a healthy man (or a woman), why would you get back to be one, except disfigured?

[–]Caessium 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The important fact about identity politics movements is that they need to feel discriminated against to survive. If you have a group that has nothing in common but how they are persecuted, it will fall apart when there's no persecution to fight against. For that reason, if you wait long enough, the only groups and movements that aren't disbanded are those that found a way to stay persecuted forever.

Queer theory is pretty much a cult tactic turned into an actual science. It first draws people who already feel marginalized, promising them unconditional acceptance, then isolates them from society and keeps them inside. Look how those people hate you. Do you really want to get them to accept you? Look at those completely mundane behaviors; it's actually how they express their disdain. You can never trust them, even those good ones we let help us, because they're intrinsically opposed to us even if they don't know it. Oh, and if you want to be liked even more here, here are a bunch of behaviors, fashion choices, and rules that will make you differ from those outside even more.

It's fascinating because it's one of those cases where the whole is more than the sum of its parts. It would work even if no one were profiting from it because it's all about connecting people through their shared misery and letting them wallow in it until they can't even imagine getting out.

Imagine you're a person who's convinced that the only thing that can make their life whole is to become the other sex than you are. You start to wear clothes stereotypically associated with this sex and use opposite pronouns, but it doesn't help; even if some people agree to treat you as a man (or a woman), it's clear they're just being polite. At this moment, you could give up with barely any consequences, but instead, you shell out a fuckload of money on an irreversible surgery that everyone claims to be life-changing.

What are the chances you'll claim to be unhappy after making such a choice? You didn't want to be a man (or a woman) when it took zero effort from you, but now you have that figured out? Are you going to get another surgery that will, at best, undo 25% of the damage the previous one caused? Admit that you mutilated yourself for nothing? No, of course not. You're happy. You're delighted. The only thing that makes you unhappy at the moment are those people who won't recognize you as a true woman (or man), but it's their fault. As soon as you get rid of transphobia, everything will be all right.

Besides, you're so deep in the rabbit hole that if your "friends" ever catch a whiff of unhappiness, they'll do everything to convince you that you're wrong—because that puts their choices in a bad light and suggests they may have made a mistake, or helped others to make a mistake. To even get the chance to allow yourself to admit you're not happy, you'd have to ditch all those people who were your lifeline for years.

I'm usually skeptical about the whole "trans = narc" equation, but this is the most narcissistic thing I've seen for a long time. They hate themselves so much that the moment you show these people you accept them, they're no longer interested. [–]Caessium 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's the latter. A lot of people speaking for autistics don't have a diagnosis. They claim they don't need one because they did "extensive research" on the topic. The more insane ones claim that "it's not a disease, so medicine has nothing to do with it" or "no neurotypical specialist is competent to diagnose someone with autism." Others claim to have been misdiagnosed by incompetent doctors.

The least insane group is also the most insidious one. They claim that self-diagnosis should be valid because getting an actual diagnosis is expensive, and finding a specialist who does that is hard. Why do I consider them insidious? Because they frequently spread misinformation about the actual cost and availability of a professional diagnosis. The less actually diagnosed autistics, the more legitimacy a fake diagnosis gets.

This is what happens when an already narcissistic person gets a boost of confidence and decides their partner is no longer good enough for them. Granted, LGBT+ support groups are guilty of enabling such behavior, with their perpetual victim stance, seemingly unconditional acceptance as long as you're one of them, and unreasonable demands. But sane people don't gravitate towards such environments and certainly wouldn't trade a healthy relationship for a hollow imitation of a community. I bet 'Beth' was always an asshole, just couldn't really spread her narcissistic wings without a pretext to lord over her partner and dictate her behavior.

[–]Caessium 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Every minority-centered movement needs outside oppression to be cohesive. This is because they have nothing in common except that they feel abused by the rest of society in a particular way. The people who don't feel maltreated enough will never join the group, or leave it very quickly. If the identity becomes too accepted by society, the movement will dissolve.

For this reason, every successful minority-centered movement learns how to cultivate this feeling of alienation in its members. Once they lure an outcast by offering them unconditional acceptance, they mold him to never feel welcome outside. They teach him to act, dress and behave in a way that seems weird to the rest of society. They expand his definition of abuse to encompass perfectly normal interaction. They tell him to not trust his friends or family outside the movement and accept unconditionally other members of the group. They also bring him "allies".

"Allies" are pretty much the representation of the enemy, the oppressor. Aside from advertising the movement outside, their role is to be the emotional punching bag. They can't make any decisions about the movement and are expected to unquestioningly follow its every rule. They can't disagree with the full-fledged members of the movement and question their narrative. They are expected to tolerate rude behavior and never speak against it. Those that try to be assertive, are abused until they leave or get broken. The aggressive ones are chased out and used as further proof that the society outside hates the minorities. Only the servile ones can stay.

So the gender movement (as every other similar movement) really has two kinds of people: full-fledged members and "allies".

Full-fledged members:

  • Feel like outcasts, but don't do much to fit in. In fact, they do pretty much everything they can to alienate the 'normies'.
  • Have an extremely strong group identity. An attack on one of them is an attack on all of them.
  • The real or imagined abuse becomes central to their identity, which means a lot of repressed anger.
  • This anger frequently gets vented on their "allies", because they're forbidden from retaliating while still representing the enemy. This gives the activists an illusion of a hard-earned win.
  • They're always victims, never oppressors. This doesn't mean they always abuse someone, but if they do, it's very easy for them to rationalize it.
  • They usually want a quick win. This means a fellow activist or a former "ally" is a better target than the actual enemy because the former usually doesn't know how to defend themselves and can be easily punished by making them persona non grata.

"Allies":

  • They're rarely, if ever, assertive. The ones that respect themselves are usually weeded out by the movement.
  • In conflict situations, they're passive toward the members of the movement and aggressive toward their perceived enemies and transgressors.
  • Always ready to demonstrate their loyalty to the cause, which makes them sometimes more eager to punish the enemies of the movement than the full-fledged members. This makes them more willing to go against harder targets.

1.) All the ones I know are women, holy hell. I often find that men are a lot more willing to call this gender BS out for what it is. However, all of my friends are women so this probably skews that data point.

Straight men have less to gain from this. In fact, the movement usually makes a point to either alienate them (by telling them how they aren't welcome there) or break them into obedient vassals. It's like a left-wing counterpart of the Redpill movement – which mostly works by scaring away self-respecting women and leaving those already conditioned to accept abuse.

6.) One of them in particular was really good at being nasty behind a screen, but buckled into a little worm if you confronted her in person. Like a whole different person. These people derive their power from being permanently and perpetually online. It has stunted them.

Yeah. For all the bluster and revenge fantasies, they're usually the kind of people who are afraid to tell the waiter that they brought them the wrong dish.

That's because if you're a narcissistic or borderline woman, there's no better place for you than LGBT+ or the women's rights movement. Nowhere else their rudeness, mood swings, and outright abuse will get explained away as righteous anger. Nowhere else can they be infallible because disagreeing with them makes you automatically an oppressor. Nowhere else they'll get to act like petty tyrants to their "allies" and still be cheered on.
