Hi all, we're removing all the other threads about this subject. We don't need new posts each time some drama pops off on Reddit about what their admins and mods are/are not doing.

This is the chosen one.

Streisand effect in full bloom on Reddit, with multiple threads on Challenor popping left and right, one in r/subredditdrama with over 11.2 k upvotes.Cat is out of the bag, let's see how this plays out.

The thread has reached r/all. Let's see Reddit admins try to bury this.

And Aimee Challenor is apparently partners with another transwoman, nekosune, who is a moderator for r/lgbt, r/ainbow, and r/actuallesbians. That explains a lot.

[–]hellonumpty 33 insightful - 5 fun33 insightful - 4 fun34 insightful - 5 fun -  (0 children)

r/actuallesbians.

of course.

YEP. The connection between r/actuallesbians and Aimee Challenor has been known for a while now, but has been censored even though Aimee and Nekosune have put that information out there voluntarily, multiple times.

I got my account suspended for linking someone that article by Graham Linehan that talks about how they're pedophiles. It makes me sick, I can't ever go back to Reddit. I would bet money they're grooming kids in online forums.

Let’s just say suspending users for mentioning your name, nuking entire threads and holding subreddits hostage, doesn’t exactly scream “I have nothing to hide.”

Copypasta from the other discussion.

Read the wiki article about him. This man and is family are a trainwreck. I don’t know how he’s allowed to be involved in politics. Or allowed to move to the United States - scratch that, it doesn’t surprise me now that I think about it when they’ve let Amos Yee in. Of course Reddit protects this Ashton Knight fella. Reddit admins defend paedophiles all the time. Remember: r/AgainstHateSubreddits routinely posts CP on subreddits that they target. So the mods of AHS possess CP. And have gotten away with it so far.

That's what happens when you give people the ability to block other people on social media. It can certainly be useful in some cases - no one deserves to be stalked and harassed on social media, and having the ability to block people that are actually harassing you (not just disagreeing with you) can be nice (although honestly if I was being stalked and harassed on social media I would probably just disconnect from the internet for a while since I can still live a full and happy life without Reddit or Twitter, but I get that some people make social media their entire life).

However, having the ability to just "disappear" any dissenting opinions with the click of a button makes these people think that, yes, those people will just stop existing if they go around using their banhammer, and results in shitty echo chambers and purity spirals that make shitty people even shittier. Luckily, there's no "block" button in real life (unless, I suppose, you go around just straight up murdering people that hurt your feelings, but there are real consequences for that kind of thing), so the deeper these people fall into their echo chambers, the less capable they are of being out in the real world, which means that if I go outside I don't actually have to interact with these people.

I hope that this further enrages people. I honestly hope that Reddit doubles down on this awful shit they're doing, because it's peaking a lot of people and freeing them of their apathy or brainwashing. I just hope it doesn't progress to the point that a child actually ends up getting hurt by the reddit admins

Holy shit, have you seen the r/Europe article? 3 thousand upvotes, they removed every single comment in the thread. I'm actually terrified now, with the guy who was arrested for speaking about his trans daughter, and now full censorship of trans-related topics, this feels like I'm living in China.

This is what an r/europe mod had to say about the entire comment section being deleted on a post about Chancellor

You are probably noticing a few strange things about this thread, not the least being that every comment was removed and that it's locked. A couple days ago, an moderator of r/UKPolitics was suspended permanently for, allegedly, posting this Spectator article about a former politician, Aimee Challenor. After turning the subreddit private for almost a full day, the moderators of r/UKPolitics then made an announcement you can read here that alleges that any mention of Ms. Challenor and any link to the article can lead to a permanent suspension of the user from the whole of reddit by the admins. The stated reason for that is that Ms. Challenor is, allegedly, currently a reddit employee and reddit is trying to protect her from harassment. While The Spectator article is a not very good one, there are several other sources on the controversy. BBC article 'Green Party suspends member over father's child rape conviction' Guardian article 'Green party failed to properly investigate child abuser – report' As you might understand, this is a rather sensitive situation. When posting these threads and responding to them, there is a real chance your account might be suspended. We don't wish for users to be 'baited' into losing their accounts however, thus the thread's comments have been removed and the thread locked. Furthermore, any more posts about it have to be cleared with us through the modmail before being approved for both your and our safety. We hope you understand. r/Europe's mod team

I like that r/europe is basically daring the admins to ban them. They're far too large of a sub to just get nuked.

[–]reluctant_commenter 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I dunno, there's a lot of censorship going on...

[–]reluctant_commenter 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I tried posting about it and got my account banned.

edit: Apparently Reddit is editing people's comments, according to a moderator on r/Europe: https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/mbd6q1/comment/grxxbzx (archive link: https://archive.is/PbZ88)

Use archive.is to save a page if you want to be able to see it later!! Just go to archive.is, and then copy/paste the URL of the page you want to save into the red box and press go. Takes 30-60 seconds.

[–]NutterButterFlutterStill waving into the void 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

If you're on desktop and use Firefox, use the Archive plugin! Then all you have to do is click an icon and it will do all the archiving work for you.

Apparently Reddit is editing people's comments

Not surprised at all. Even the CEO of Reddit had been caught editing the comments of users. It was so bad that the infamous former CEO Ellen Pao criticized him for it. Reddit is run by immature Finks.

Challenor has been fired.

https://www.reddit.com/r/announcements/comments/mcisdf/an_update_on_the_recent_issues_surrounding_a/

We would like to give you all an update on the recent issues that have transpired concerning a specific Reddit employee, as well as provide you with context into actions that we took to prevent doxxing and harassment.

As of today, the employee in question is no longer employed by Reddit. We built a relationship with her first as a mod and then through her contractor work on RPAN. We did not adequately vet her background before formally hiring her.

We’ve put significant effort into improving how we handle doxxing and harassment, and this employee was the subject of both. In this case, we over-indexed on protection, which had serious consequences in terms of enforcement actions.

On March 9th, we added extra protections for this employee, including actioning content that mentioned the employee’s name or shared personal information on third-party sites, which we reserve for serious cases of harassment and doxxing. On March 22nd, a news article about this employee was posted by a mod of r/ukpolitics. The article was removed and the submitter banned by the aforementioned rules. When contacted by the moderators of r/ukpolitics, we reviewed the actions, and reversed the ban on the moderator, and we informed the r/ukpolitics moderation team that we had restored the mod. We updated our rules to flag potential harassment for human review. Debate and criticism have always been and always will be central to conversation on Reddit—including discussion about public figures and Reddit itself—as long as they are not used as vehicles for harassment. Mentioning a public figure’s name should not get you banned.

We care deeply for Reddit and appreciate that you do too. We understand the anger and confusion about these issues and their bigger implications. The employee is no longer with Reddit, and we’ll be evolving a number of relevant internal policies.

We did not operate to our own standards here. We will do our best to do better for you.

This just reads as if they checked all the boxes to avoid true accountability, and to cover their asses. Everyone will celebrate that the bad pedophile is gone, then they will move on. I'm glad they got fired, but the fact they ever got hired in the first place is representative of a bigger problem that I doubt will be addressed.

[–]Happy_Blueberry3910[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

One of the comments:

Wait, so you knew about all this shit on the 9th and did nothing?

and another:

Stop calling it doxxing when the person in question was literally a political candidate, making them a public figure. You guys are so full of shit honestly.

one more:

Reddit was perfectly willing to let /r/jailbait continue to exist until the news got wind of it. Sounds like you were operating perfectly to your own standards.

+1:

She's not Voldemort, just say her fucking name, you cowards.

and the last one:

Bring back the subs for women you banned, such as PCOS, and the sub for ovarian cancer, because apparently, talking about an ovary is hate speech. The lesbian sub. Bring back all the women centered subs, that we know, YOU removed, because this person was actively involved in their removal.

Talking about cervical cancer is not an attack or phobic on anyone.Talking about menstrual cycles is not an attack, or phobic, or hate speech. It should not result in people getting banned, doxxed, and canceled.

Being a lesbian is not phobic. Being a straight woman is not phobic. Being a bisexual woman is not phobic.

Yeah, that's quite infuriating. And the way they say it is like, "You gotta accept that this terrible person is a member of your very own Community! Don't run away from the Truth! Take responsibility and claim this rancid piece of crap human for the good of all Women.". Screw that. You don't need to claim shit. I don't consider him a part of my bro "community" or whatever, but that Male Dude is a Man, and a member of my sex at least.

1: I hate this clownworld timeline where people bend over backwards to use this dude's "preferred pronouns", because they'll fear being banned or to be "polite". This dude is not a woman and his behavior screams "man with a fetish". This is a deluded, predatory man. And this insistence of politeness, constant tiptoeing is why these TW keep getting shielded and coddled for their behavior.

2: I hope I'm wrong, but if Reddit does acknowledge the controversy and releases a public statement they will feign total ignorance to protect the clique in their org. There's no way that a person with this type of history could be hired in total ignorance, and it strains credulity that NO ONE did any background checks at any step of the hiring process. Even a laywoman like me, with no access to databases, in another country, can do a Google search and find out this dude's history. Even those Google results could not be scrubbed because it was such a scandal, major news organizations were publishing articles about it. This dude was so radioactive that multiple political parties dropped him and disavowed his involvement. There's no way they didn't know. If Reddit do drop him (and I'm cynical that they will because they're bending over backwards to scrub even mentions of his name), then it'll only be to protect the rest of their clique. The rot must be deep at Reddit.

Apparently his dad the convicted pedophile is also a transvestite, and coincidentally both him and his brother just happen to be "transwomen". Seriously, nobody is going to point out that this guy is most likely seriously mentally ill and was groomed by his father to become transgender.

Even the most pro trans rights people have to scratch their heads in situations like this.
