I've read it and there's lots to address but I'm just about to head to bed so I will only touch upon the whole "echo chamber" thing right now. The echo chamber is not really a choice. They have us banned on every platform for saying biological sex is real and males cant be females and vice versa. I also think plenty of us have engaged with or debated TRAs at some point. Personally, sometimes, I just want a place to bitch about them. 😂

I'm also at a place where I'm done with debating with them and would rather focus energies on practical ways to halt their nonsense and prevent them from doing any more damage. I'm going to be honest, in recent years, I feel like the trans movement has absolutely became further and further detached from reality (thanks to their own echo chamber, no doubt). You can't debate people who are essentially delusional.

So, Drop The T might be an echo chamber but not really one of our own doing. TRAs however, do indeed have an echo chamber of their own doing -- think the silencing, the wee browser plug-ins they use to determine if an online space is "safe" or not, the fact that many have full on (reality) (collapses/meltdowns) when they have to interact with the outside world and it's not consistent with their online echo chamber. Also, the anime. I want to say the anime is part of it.

r/gaytransguys points out exactly why gay men don't trust "lesbians" by CaptainMoose in LGBDropTheT

[–]hellonumpty 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

In one of her previous posts on r/lifeafternarcissism, she details how her ex-girlfriend was "clingy" and it took about 4 times to break up. In one of her posts on r/bisexual, she documents how sex with women never really felt good. She also has a history of alcoholism and two of her "lesbian" exes are now with men permanently.

Haha, I read this description of her before I clicked through to the thread and had a feeling I knew who you were talking about. Yep! I recognise her username from spending some time on r/bisexual a few years ago. Now she's a trans man because....of course she is. She's not got a ducking clue who or what she is. As you say - Cluster B vibes!

I wonder if her boyfriend sensed any red flags. Like, saying you're a lesbian for a decade and then claiming you have absolutely no attraction to women is surely a bit of a red flag for getting into a relationship and gives a glimpse into what the future might be like with that person. Sure enough, she's dumped her boyfriend after 4 years because she's decided that she's actually a man now. I remember she used to post about how amazing her boyfriend was. If he really was that amazing, she's ruined a perfectly good relationship. Identity disturbances are a hell of a thing. Maybe she'll cycle all the way around to straight trans men next? 🤦🏻‍♀️

All that aside though, I find it kind of scary the way I hear 'gay' trans men come to the conclusion that they are indeed trans men. It's like: Oh, I liked playing as male video game characters and I write about and relate to gay male fictional characters. Well, that must mean one thing! Better get on the testosterone! 😬

It's all one big mass delusion. They lie to themselves and to others, and when they finally realise it's all been a lie they have a total reality collapse. It doesn't seem uncommon for a trans person lose their shit at some point (sometimes after they've had surgery too) because they realise that no, they'll never be able to attain their ~ideal~ looks, or actually be a real man or woman.

I’m the opposite kinda. Knowing I always liked men and felt like a gay man trapped in a “girls” body was kinda what made me realize I was actually trans and not just fetishizing gay men. I’ve always been drawn to gay men and their love stories since I was a teenager. I thought it was cringy tho until it all clicked. I’m having a harder time with the idea of being seen as a man eventually and “being one of them” than as the idea of being gay. God life is so complex and exhausting lol

😬 I'm not sure how she thought "I feel like a gay men trapped in a girls body" somehow wasn't part of fetishising gay men?

It's very much a "I'm not like other straight men" kind of vibe.

Also the distrustful part of me thinks it's all part of a potentially predatory tactic to get women to lower their guard and deflect from their own toxic and entitled behaviour by talking about just how awful (other) straight guys are.

So many women use that master doc along with "comp het" to justify why they were always lesbians all along, just like the woman in the post linked ^ is doing with justifying why she thinks she was always a gay man. I think the master doc is a beacon to women who have issues with men, straight men in particular. I guess the idea of being a lesbian but still being able to fancy unavailable men feels safe to a lot of these women.

I think the few women I've seen online speak about going from lesbian (but are actually bisexual or even straight) to gay trans man use both identities as shields from dealing with their issues around straight men. It's just that I guess over time they've figured that being a gay trans man allows them to openly fancy men and even act on those attractions when they are ready - act on it with ''safe'' men, of course - and that's better for them in the long run.

Obviously if you are attracted to men it's perfectly normal that you will, at some point, find yourself attracted to a gay man. Maybe even more than one. But this, "I always fancied gay men, I always wanted to be with gay men only," obsession is just fucking weird.

All I read from this is either, "my fetish for gay men has always been there" or, "my own assumptions about gay men being special and different from straight men has always been there"

These types of women are just so annoying. Instead of actually diving into these thoughts, and why they feel the way they do about gay men, they just jump to thinking that it must mean they were actually a gay man all along. Ffs. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

But then on the flipside you've got TRAs and other trans people claiming that the process of accessing trans healthcare is very difficult.

TBH when TRAs in the UK talk about this, it just comes across as if they're throwing tantrums about having to wait like everyone else does because they need to transition right.this.instant. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Kind of like a petulant child.

Edit: Just to add - they also complain about having ''segregated'' health care and by that I guess they mean having to specifically go to gender clinics. I'm not sure what's wrong with specialised health care but they just find ways to complain. I guess they want the least barriers with the least amount of questions asked. But that's stupid for making a big life changing decision like transitioning is.

It's the same when they also complain about having to jump through hoops to change their gender legally. They really do think that everyone should just believe that they are who they say they are. 🙄

Women are often encouraged to give someone a chance - usually a man she has no interest in, but he has an interest in her, often to the point of being creepy or inappropriate. All the shit trans people say about dating reminds me of this a lot. Plus saying no is much harder when 'no' is considered bigoted and on the same level as a hate crime.

The proof, other than countless people speaking out about it and actual evidence online of trans people saying this stuff, is in their ideology. The idea that you refuse to date trans people is rooted in 'cis-sexism' is what they say.

Edit: Forgot to add - same sex attraction is now being referred to as a dog whistle, so don't know what planet this lad is on but it's not earth.

I've encountered people like this, used to have a friend like this actually, and it's often a really narcissistic way of viewing the world and relationships. Basically, everything to them is transactional. If they did a nice thing for you, and you think it's out of the goodness of their heart, think again. It's so they can say that you owe them.

Whenever I've read straight women (FTMs) saying these things, it's because they read and relate to a lot of m/m pairings in fiction and read smutty fanfics about those characters. These fics are mostly written by women. So the attraction they're actually experiencing is simply through a lens of another (most likely) straight woman.

I think it's fetishisation but also a lot of these women seem to have issues with straight men and their femininity in relation to straight men, and so gay men feel 'safer' than straight men do. I also think there's certain straight women (FTMs included in this) who find themselves only attracted to gay men which I've assumed there's something going on with them mentally or emotionally to only be interested in men who are unavailable and will never, ever want you.

Even though I love living here. I think it's fine for gay and bi people. But I genuinely worry how this trans stuff will play out here.

why do some hyper-woke men think that they need to be a grotesque caricature of a woman to be a feminist?

It's more about the clout that anything else I think. So many male feminists are shady and have ulterior motives. And now 'Abi' calls himself the Princess Of TERF Island. It's nothing to do with being an ally and everything to do with his image, his reputation, his fame, his clout, and his oppression.

Coming out as a trans woman is like their form of asserting dominance. Trans women's word is gospel.

Oh yeah this is the prick that compared having access to abortions "which are permanent" to puberty blockers "which are reservable" in his coming out manifesto.

Honestly, a lot of the ''discrimination'' bi people face from lesbians and gay men is mostly a result of them just not reading the room. Most well known example I can think of is the bisexual woman who thought it was appropriate to write an article after Pulse that was essentially all about her struggle being a bisexual woman in a relationship with a man, wondering if she was allowed to be ''sad'' about what happened. The world really didn't need that article.

Bi women like her are the quintessential 'bi queer woman' so I appreciate how annoying that can be for lesbians and gay men.

Also, about the first tweet - it's really hard to believe everything the media tells us about trans people is a lie when most of the things in the media are what led me to no longer support the trans community years before the media even picked up on it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Their view of liberation just tickles me.

I think for people who've had to hide their sexuality and couldn't openly love their person, ''assimilation'' is indeed liberation. To be able to walk down the street while holding your person's hand? Build a life together. Have the option to marry them and start a family? Sure can be liberating.

But I understand how a straight woman whose never had any problems having these things would look at this as boring because she could do all these things all along. And this is a common pattern with self proclaimed ~radical~ queers.

She has to find other ways to be ~radical~ but the reality is same sex couples settling down in affluent neighbours with their white picket fences and boring but stable jobs are still more radical than blue haired girl-fags. 😬

(same sex couples settling down in affluent neighbours with white picket fences and boring but stable jobs is genuinely how they see people in same sex relationships if we aren't being obnoxious online 24/7)

[–]hellonumpty 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

My only contact with asexuals has been on MOGAI tumblr when they'd frequently be like: ''tee-hee, at least we won't get AIDS!!" and just generally being homophobes.

I also think this privilege wheel is something the average person doesn't care about, at least, in depth anyway. What I'm about to say is kind of UK-centric but, in the local elections, Hartlepool turned it's back on labour and went tory for the first time in something like 50+ years. Some are saying that labour has now become the party of the middle class uni students obsessed with identity politics and is out of touch with what the average person wants and needs. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know the issue is probably a bit more complex than just that, but I also think things like privilege wheels don't help when all people are trying to do is run food banks so people in their community are fed, you know?

I think this is either entirely made up or seriously exaggerated. If it did happen, at most, I'd believe the mother may have used pepper spray on him (maybe also a kick to the groin) so she could get her and her child the hell away from him. If anyone was using their ~feminine intuition~ here, it was the mother.

Also lol at him trying to make this about TERFs when she's just a mother trying to get her kid away from a creepy dude.

How do we feel about reclaiming slurs? by PatsyStone in LGBDropTheT

[–]hellonumpty 12 insightful - 2 fun12 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I was thinking about this not too long ago as someone I follow on social media was going on about how she's still queer even though she's only ever been in relationships with men.

I'm a bisexual woman of a similar age to this woman, I've really only had serious relationships with women, and queer has never been something used against me (at least to my face) so I'm very much doubtful that it's ever been used against her. An observation I've made is that a lot of the people 'reclaiming' queer do so because they've never been impacted by the slur. It's why they can be so flippant about it. To them it's nothing more than an edgy label to slap on.

So, I think the reclamation of slurs would much more impactful and meaningful when the ones reclaiming the slurs are the ones who’ve been most impacted or harmed by them. Where I live, queer is very much directed at gay and bi men in particular. Obviously it's not super clear cut but all that social justice sensitivity 101 seems to go out the window when it comes to people who've actually had queer flung at them as a slur. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know here in the UK, when Philosophy Tube came out he wrote out this whole statement about how hard done by trans people are in the UK. But what this seems to amount to is the fact that trans people need to wait for treatment on the NHS (like everyone does) so basically, it's about them not getting what they want instantly.
