Honestly, I’m quite surprised that they didn’t get the ban hammer in the small ban wave of the super sexuality subs. The trans posts on there have far more comments than others and the comments themselves would make a TRA clutch their pearls and feign horror. I’m pretty sure the only reason it has survived for so long is because it’s a huge sub. If AHS and Bardfinn tried some shit in there, it would definitely come back to bite them in the ass. Sadly, with the amount of sanity in TIA, it won’t last much longer. If another movement critical of TRAs comes around on Reddit with a large amount of support (like superstraight) and it gets banned, TIA is done for too.

What I think is so hilarious is that they believe that our small community with at most 25 active users at a time are capable of swaying the general consensus regarding trans issues on a sub as large as r/askgaybros. I would say that they do the TERF work for us, most of the guys in there do not tolerate the constant brigading and already have negative opinions of TRAs that will not budge. TRAs lack awareness is astounding

Slap on the wrist and damage control

I can't find the link, but an admin made a post saying that they fired Challenor and they said something along the line of not vetting properly. People in the comments were congratulating and patting reddit on the back for "doing the right thing"

Unfortunately, no. Even now, any user who tries to draw a parallel is being called a transphobe. People aren't willing to listen yet.

I've seen people get downvoted to oblivion for misgendering him. Again, I can't find the link to the post, but someone said that even pedophiles don't deserve to be misgendered. I was actually dumbfounded.

I expect more soon since social media and Twitter are blowing up about it. Even people who have been living under a rock and ask "WTF is Reddit and why do I care" are learning about what's going on. That will attract the attention of bigger and bigger names, and the news articles will follow soon after.

The glory of the Streisand effect. But since Reddit "resolved" the problem already, I doubt the story will go much further. In fact, I could see some diehard twitter dwelling TRA who is misinformed or acting with malicious intent to twist this around to say that Reddit users wanted Challenor gone for transphobic reasons and gloss over the pedophilia.

I do think it might sway some public opinion of T, but not a ton, no. If anything, it reinforces already-held negative opinions, and many of those people have been cancelled already. LGB is hardly even a whisper in anyone's mind at this point. What this really does is sway opinion of Reddit on a massive scale, it's peaking people about what we've all known for years about Admin behavior.

I was afraid that some opportunistic (classical religious) homophobes would use this as justification that all alphabet people are disgusting pedophiles just waiting to prey on children. But when lesbians and gay men started to share their horror stories on the superstraight sub, I knew that it would plant the seed that would lead to a site wide peaking. I just hope the great peakening happens sooner so younger LGB's won't have to experience woke homophobia.

What is Gender Dysphoria exactly and how is it different from internalized homophobia? by [deleted] in LGBDropTheT

[–]Butterlogs 11 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 0 fun12 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

GD is “ psychological distress that results from an incongruence between one’s sex assigned at birth and one’s gender identity”, but IMO, it’s a subtype of body dysmorphia. A significant percentage of women experience GD because of the stress of puberty e.g. being sexualized by men, traumatic periods, etc or a traumatic sexual experience/history. Men are more likely to experience GD as a result of not conforming to outdated stereotypes pertaining to masculinity. Anyone of any sexuality can experience GD.

Internalized homophobia is when LGB individuals, “are subjected to these beliefs so often and for so long that they begin to believe that any sexual orientation other than “straight” or heterosexual is wrong, evil, or immoral”. IH may cause an individual to seek ways to deny or suppress their sexuality, which may include transitioning. IH also causes self loathing and hatred directed toward sexual minorities. Only LGB people can experience IH.

Edit: added some info for clarity

This is what an r/europe mod had to say about the entire comment section being deleted on a post about Chancellor

You are probably noticing a few strange things about this thread, not the least being that every comment was removed and that it's locked. A couple days ago, an moderator of r/UKPolitics was suspended permanently for, allegedly, posting this Spectator article about a former politician, Aimee Challenor. After turning the subreddit private for almost a full day, the moderators of r/UKPolitics then made an announcement you can read here that alleges that any mention of Ms. Challenor and any link to the article can lead to a permanent suspension of the user from the whole of reddit by the admins. The stated reason for that is that Ms. Challenor is, allegedly, currently a reddit employee and reddit is trying to protect her from harassment. While The Spectator article is a not very good one, there are several other sources on the controversy. BBC article 'Green Party suspends member over father's child rape conviction' Guardian article 'Green party failed to properly investigate child abuser – report' As you might understand, this is a rather sensitive situation. When posting these threads and responding to them, there is a real chance your account might be suspended. We don't wish for users to be 'baited' into losing their accounts however, thus the thread's comments have been removed and the thread locked. Furthermore, any more posts about it have to be cleared with us through the modmail before being approved for both your and our safety. We hope you understand. r/Europe's mod team

Found this comment on the second linked post:

Homosexuality is degeneracy encouraged by anti-human forces bent on destroying the human race. These degenerates think they are just normal people but no, they are already subhuman. They should be segregated into full apartheid so that their degenerating influence could be curtailed. But no, these anti-humans are hard at work destroying mankind.

I think it’s best to ignore them. It’s unfortunate that the conservative nut jobs feel emboldened to shit on us. Most LGB people who parrot TWAW are young and still have so much to learn before they can truly form an opinion on the matter. They lack the critical thinking skills to do so because their brains’ haven’t fully developed the ability yet. Also, I think it has to do with the stereotype that inhabitants of alphabet city are extremely liberal and want to be on ““““the right side of history””””. IMO, of all the stereotypes about the LGBT2QBIGMAC+ community, this is the most harmful and is what feeds into emboldening the TRAs

American conservatives have been speaking on this for quite some time. The censorship of the S+ community has made me realize just how influential big tech is in controlling public opinion. I never ID’d as trans, but I have OCD that basically convinced me that I was a trans man in denial. Our experiences aren’t the same but I think that there is some general overlap.

The best thing for you to do now is to simply get off the internet for a while and take some time to think and clear your head. As for the imposter syndrome thoughts, it will linger for a while and even though it may be hard, accept them. It the only way for your mind to realize that it’s being irrational and they will eventually cease.

I wasn’t out for long before I had my trans horror story, so I didn’t really have a sense of belong among the lesbian community. But seeing as I am too ‘straight passing’ and my opinions on the trans ideology, I don’t think they would like me very much. It’s totally okay to not feel like you belong, despite it feeling isolated. There are other guys out there who are in the same boat as you and just knowing that might bring you some solace. I hope you can figure this all out and come out stronger

Seeing as how the T damn near ruined my life, I am a combination of angry and depressed. I was almost a victim of child transing, which I detailed on a post here a few days ago. However, what makes me the most upset about TQ+ rhetoric is the blatant homophobia against those with trauma. I’ve been told that although it’s unfortunate that I was abused as a child, that doesn’t excuse the fact that my aversion penis is inherently transphobic. Of course being new to the community, I believed they were right and tried to envision myself with a transwoman and was completely repulsed, both with myself and with the thought of being intimate with someone who has a dick. It’s crazy to me that they don’t realize just how rapey the whole, “sleep with me or you’re a TERF” thing sounds. I’m tired of how much I’m told “try it, you might like it”. I’ve dealt with it from my own parents and religious homophobes, and now from the people I’m supposed to have a sense of community with.

[–]Butterlogs 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Coming out was/is a shitshow for me. When I came out to my mom, I was having an anxiety attack (unrelated to coming out) and she kinda forced it out of me and made me feel like shit for being gay. Just like you, I don’t ‘look gay’ so everyone just assumes I’m straight and are surprised when I say I’m a lesbian. It really annoying to have to come out all the time. As for celebrities, I’m sort of jealous of them. God forbid I speak to a male friend, now I am suddenly straight or a liar. But unlike the average person, their coming out no matter how vague or low effort, automatically admits them to the rainbow social club. It is far more easy to remember that Sarah Paulson is a raging lesbo than Becky down the street. Additionally, I think that they use the lack of labels to not be pressed on an issue that may or may not be for attention, so they are free to do whatever they please (sexually and romantically) and have the ‘queer’ safety net.
